Chapter 363: The Anticipated Dark Arts Class
Chapter 363: The Anticipated Dark Arts Class
Changing the trajectory of the Summoning Charm was far more challenging than Kyle had anticipated. By the end of the class, he could only manage to keep the quill hovering half a meter in front of him.
During the second period of History of Magic, he continued to practice relentlessly.
Professor Binns, a ghost with centuries of teaching experience, consistently held the title of Hogwarts' most popular professor.
Usually, he wouldn't interfere with what students did in class unless their snoring disturbed his reading.
"In 1612, goblins used a small tavern in Hogsmeade as their headquarters and launched a rebellion against male and female wizards..."
As always, he read aloud from the history of the goblin rebellion, his words matching the book's content word for word.
In the last row, Kyle took advantage of the chorus of snores around him and practiced the Summoning Charm under the desk repeatedly.
Conna had initially intended to pay attention in class, but her focus was soon drawn to the quill under the desk, which kept jumping.
Having sat next to Kyle during Charms class, she knew what he was up to and had even attempted it for a while, although her progress was much slower than his.
Perhaps out of sheer boredom and a desire to stay awake, Conna, who had already given up, decided to occupy herself by taking out her wand and quill after watching for a while.
...
After the History of Magic class ended, the students who had been sound asleep all woke up at the same time, rubbing their eyes and preparing to head to the Great Hall for lunch in a noisy manner.
However, as Kyle reached the entrance to the Great Hall, he was stopped once again.
This time, it wasn't Hermione who stopped him but a Slytherin girl named Daphne Greengrass.
"Kyle, I'm here to buy the amulet."
Daphne didn't even bother with a greeting after stopping Kyle; she got straight to the point. "Tell me, how much is it?"
Kyle didn't mind her bluntness.
She was quick to pay, and whenever they introduced a new product, she would always be the first to purchase the most expensive one.
This time, she had also brought along a little girl, who Kyle recognized as one of the new students from this year.
"This is my sister," Daphne said impatiently upon noticing Kyle's gaze. "I'm buying the amulet for her."
The little girl was much more polite than her sister, and although she seemed a bit afraid of strangers, she greeted Kyle seriously.
"Hello, I'm Astoria Greengrass, a first-year student in Slytherin."
"Hello, I'm..."
"Enough of this," Daphne interrupted impatiently. "Hurry up and bring out the amulet. I want the best one, not some rubbish like what Lombard has."
Her attitude was as unpleasant as ever.
"The amulet was sold out this morning," Kyle said.
Daphne frowned, about to say something, when Kyle took out a delicate box from his pocket.
Daphne immediately recognized it; the box was made of yew wood, and it was fresh yew wood, not some random dried-up tree.
Fresh yew wood had a softer color and a more noticeable sheen.
She had plenty of yew wood furniture in her room, so she could tell the difference.
"What's this?" Daphne asked with interest. "I thought you said it was sold out?"
"Dragons have more than just scales," Kyle smiled. "It will definitely meet your requirements."
Kyle opened the box, revealing a five-inch-long dragon tooth that resembled a dagger and a silver-white coil of thread.
"It's made from Hungarian Horntail, a dragon you should be familiar with."
Daphne let out a cold huff, remaining silent as she shifted her gaze to the silvery coil.
"This is made from unicorn hair," Kyle explained. "Unicorns are also known to be the bane of Dementors, and these sacred creatures make them very uncomfortable."
Daphne's eyes lit up at the mention of the price. "How much is it?"
"One hundred Galleons."
Kyle smiled. "I added this coil to make it easier to hang on a backpack or robe. If you don't need it, I can remove it, and it'll only cost twenty Galleons."
"No, that's fine."
Without hesitation, Daphne pushed the box into Astoria's hands and handed Kyle a heavy cloth bag.
"Here's one hundred Galleons. I'll take it."
Astoria, standing beside her, curiously opened the box and touched the silvery coil. A warm current seemed to flow from her fingertips, making her feel comfortable.
She looked up at Kyle again, a hint of curiosity in her eyes.
When she first heard the price of one hundred Galleons, she thought Kyle might be a con artist, but now it seemed like a misunderstanding.

Unicorn hair is famously expensive, so one hundred Galleons is not an unreasonable price.
For the same amount, this is much better than the gem brooch she has at home; it's more practical and prettier.
Astoria suddenly remembered that Draco had mentioned this person to her when the Malfoy family visited a month ago.
Even the map he gave her yesterday seemed to be purchased from this person.
Just then, Daphne's voice interrupted.
"Let's go, Astoria."
Astoria quickly snapped out of her thoughts and said to Kyle, "It's an honor to meet you. Goodbye!"
She was then led into the Great Hall.
"Are they really sisters?" Conna whispered from the side. "How can their personalities be so different?"
"It's strange, but it's normal," Kyle said nonchalantly. "Percy and Fred and George are brothers. Do you think they're alike?"
"Um..."
Upon hearing this, it suddenly seemed reasonable.
Kyle put away the one hundred Galleons and also entered the Great Hall.
Conna watched his actions and asked, "Is one hundred Galleons too expensive? The items with unicorn hair before were only a few dozen Galleons. With such a big increase, weren't you worried she wouldn't buy it?"
"Not at all," Kyle replied.
He walked to the long table and found an empty seat.
"This one has several complete tail hairs, so it should be more expensive. And even if she doesn't buy it, I can just remove the coil later and use the unicorn hair for something else."
"What unicorn hair?" Cedric asked, sitting down next to Kyle.
However, it seemed like he was just asking casually, without expecting an answer. As soon as he sat down, he excitedly asked, "By the way, when do you have Defense Against the Dark Arts?"
"Tomorrow morning," Conna replied after checking her schedule. "Why?"
"You'll definitely be excited. This year's Defense Against the Dark Arts is completely different from the past two years. It's amazing."
Cedric poured himself some pumpkin juice, looking thrilled. "After such a long time, Headmaster Dumbledore has finally found a reliable professor."
