Chapter 361: Is Its Movement Really That Smooth?
Chapter 361: Is Its Movement Really That Smooth?
A Lion Ape over ten meters tall and a werewolf over five meters tall towered over the other ordinary beasts on the grasslands like two giants.
But compared to each other, the difference between them was like that between a child and a seasoned officer.
Klah planted his feet firmly, took a deep breath until his chest swelled like a drum, then exhaled sharply.
"Wolf Dash Cannon!"
He compressed the air into a tight beam, which became visible as it tore through the space toward the distant Lion Ape at blinding speed.
With its colossal size, the Lion Ape was an impossible target to miss—unlike Luo Wei, whose agility had once been terrifying.
The Wolf Dash Cannon streaked forward, but just before impact, the monstrous Lion Ape suddenly swayed like a drunkard. It bent one leg, hopped sideways, and dodged so effortlessly that the air bubble whizzed past its body. The beam carved a deep gash across the grasslands before slamming into the distant forest.
Boom!!!
A single shot reduced the forest's central area to flat ground.
"Did I miss?"
Hardly a heartbeat passed before Klah reacted. With a screech, his feet skidded across the ground, leaving behind wisps of residual energy as he dashed toward the Lion Ape in an instant.
His razor-sharp claws pierced through the Lion Ape's fur, knocking it sprawling.
Boom!
The ten-meter-tall beast crashed down, sending shockwaves rippling through the ground.
But as Klah landed the strike, a strange sensation jolted through him. While his claws had torn through the fur, the flesh beneath felt as unyielding as steel, completely resisting his attack.
"Roar!!!"
The Lion Ape roared furiously. Sensing danger, Klah sprang backward, his feet stomping the sky itself as he soared high.
The moment he leapt, the Lion Ape's head shot forward, snapping its jaws shut at the spot where Klah had been. The sharp clack of its teeth made Klah's eyelid twitch violently.
One bite from those jaws would shatter bones.
Before Klah could even exhale relief, the Lion Ape reared up and hurled its nitoryu upward in a lightning-fast strike aimed directly at him.
No time to dodge!
"Iron Body!"
Klah froze mid-air, his muscles tensed to a steel-like rigidity as he braced for the nitoryu's impact.
Crash!
The nitoryu's blade slammed into his chest, the sheer force pushing Klah's body higher into the sky.
Thud!
But in the next instant, the Lion Ape leapt upward, catching the nitoryu's shaft mid-air. With a savage thrust, it channeled a shockwave of air from the blade's tip, sending Klah's body into a violent convulsion as blood spurted from his mouth.
This monster was fast!
And faster still was what came next.
After the strike, the Lion Ape spun mid-air, gripping the nitoryu like a dancer. It glided past Klah with unnatural grace, then swung the blade in a crescent arc, cleaving downward toward Klah's head like a scythe.
Crack!
Klah's head snapped under the blow, his body rocketing toward the ground like an arrow.
Before he hit the earth, the Lion Ape suddenly released its grip, flipped the nitoryu in a reverse hold, and drove its entire body downward like a spear aimed straight at Klah.
A chill ran down Klah's spine.
Gritting his teeth, Klah tensed his limbs and landed on all fours. With a twist of his body, he launched himself upward.
"Tooth Wolf Fang!"
His werewolf form erupted into a black whirlwind, colliding head-on with the descending nitoryu. The collision erupted in a thunderous explosion. From the heart of the black tornado, Klah's body was hurled skyward. Spinning mid-air, he landed on all fours, sliding backward across the ground for several meters.
"Ha... ha..."
Gasping for breath, Klah lifted a clawed hand—half his claws were shattered, blood mixing with tufts of fur. He looked a mess.
Whoosh!
The black whirlwind was sliced apart by the nitoryu. Unscathed, the Lion Ape stood on the now-ravaged battlefield, its single hand effortlessly wielding the nitoryu. One leg bent, the other planted firmly, its free hand splayed its five fingers wide toward Klah—a pose eerily reminiscent of a Noh theater performance.
"Is its movement really that smooth? How can such a monster exist?"
Klah spat blood, his teeth clenched. This wretched Kingdom in the West Blue—it shouldn't harbor beings of this caliber!
As an ancient-type werewolf, his physicality was formidable. Ordinary blades meant nothing to him. The nitoryu alone wasn't inherently dangerous, but combined with this monster's monstrous strength, it became a lethal threat.
Earlier, if he hadn't reinforced his skull with Armament Haki at the last moment, that strike might have left him permanently crippled—even dead.
The most infuriating part? For something so massive, how could it move with such fluidity and speed? Its seamless techniques weren't befitting of a beast—it was as if a human wore a monster's skin.
Seeing Klah hesitate, the Lion Ape curled its fingers, beckoning him forward. The challenge was clear.
Klah glanced around—Sazil and the others had vanished. They must've slipped into the cave during the battle.
"Don't underestimate me!"
His pupils contracted to needle points, his voice hissing from clenched teeth. "I am Kuromr.'s right-hand man! I won't be defeated by some pitiful monster!"
His limbs pressed tightly to the ground, blue veins bulging visibly through his fur.
Bang!
In an instant, Klah exploded into action, leaving behind a blurry afterimage as he charged the Lion Ape.
The Lion Ape hopped sideways, twisting its body. The nitoryu on its shoulder slid forward, aiming directly at Klah.
Just as the blade's tip neared the afterimage, Klah vanished from its path. Circling the Lion Ape, he became a black semicircle of light—a crescent of darkness.
Slicing sound!!!
Five black streaks erupted from the Lion Ape's back, tearing through its hide and spewing blood.
Klah emerged behind the Lion Ape, one claw still in the midst of a slashing motion, the Armament Haki on it fading.
"Black Moon Slash", he muttered.
"Roar!!!"
The Lion Ape howled in rage, hopping furiously while clutching its wounded back.
"Gotcha! Did that strike finally hurt you?"
A savage grin curled Klah's lips. This was his strongest move—combining high-speed movement with Armament Haki. Even the mightiest foes would falter from such a blow.
"Now, it's my counterattack!"
Licking blood from his clawed hand, he savored the metallic taste.
Moon Wolf's signature ability: by tasting an opponent's blood, they could predict their movements and techniques.
Once their blood touched his tongue, no one could hide their actions from him!
The blood slid down his throat, intensifying his grin. "Let me see the strength in your blood—the rhythm of your moves, the pattern of your strikes!"
Eyes wide and wild, Klah laughed maniacally. "You can't hide anything from me now, monster!"
Yet moments later, his eyes widened even further. The five gashes on the Lion Ape's back were healing. The monster stopped hopping, turned to face him with nitoryu on its shoulder, and its gaze burned with a chillingly humanlike mockery.
As if to say, Gotcha back.
