Chapter 361: Gorebyss's Resolve, Amusement Park, and Surprises in Aqua City
Chapter 361: Gorebyss's Resolve, Amusement Park, and Surprises in Aqua City
Naoki pocketed the Poke Ball containing Snorlax and suddenly recalled his original purpose for visiting Sunyshore City.
The girl, noticing the now-empty treat box that Snorlax had devoured, apologized, "I'm so sorry, but it seems Snorlax has eaten all the treats prepared for the Bug-Catching Contest. If I were to make more using the remaining Berries, it would take about an hour..."
By that time, the first batch of contestants who had entered the Nature Park would likely have returned with their newly caught Bug-type Pokemon.
Naoki understood the situation and, as he was merely here to experience the atmosphere of the contest, he didn't mind not catching a Bug-type Pokemon.
"In that case, don't worry about making more Pokemon treats," Naoki said.
The girl still looked apologetic, feeling responsible as she was the one who had invited him to join the Bug-Catching Contest, only for things to turn out this way.
To make up for it, she said, "I'm very sorry about this. However, we hold two Bug-Catching Contests every year. Apart from today's event, there's another one in the autumn. I'll send an invitation to your ranch then, so please come again."
Naoki smiled and nodded. "Sure, I'll come by then."
With something on his mind, Naoki didn't linger. He glanced at the now-empty entrance of the Nature Park and said to the Bikeracha riding beside him, "Let's go. We're heading back."
"Garachaa!" Bikeracha obediently nodded and carried Naoki away from Sunyshore City back to the ranch.
The ranch was still bustling with life. As Naoki dismounted from Bikeracha, he spotted Gorebyss sunbathing on the grass, looking rather dejected.
He walked over and called out to it, "Gorebyss?"
Hearing its name, Gorebyss lifted its head and looked towards Naoki.
"Are you feeling better?" Naoki asked gently as he sat down beside it.
Gorebyss paused, a little surprised that Naoki had noticed its mood. It sighed, "Agas..."
Naoki ate a translation peanut crisp and stroked Gorebyss's head, saying, "If something is troubling you, you can tell me. Are you upset because I favored Bikeracha during bath time yesterday?"
Gorebyss widened its eyes, looking a little dazed, but soon shook its head, "Agas!" (No, not that!)
"Then, what is it?" Naoki probed gently, "Is it something I did wrong?"
"Agas..." (It's not that...)
Gorebyss hung its head low, its claws resting on its head as it looked forlorn.
How could he explain this?
Gorebyss's emotions were heavy as it conveyed, "Agas." (I want to be with you forever, Naoki.)
Flashbacks of the past played in its mind.
The tiny Bikeracha, peeking at it from a distance with admiring eyes.
Despite its fear, the little Bikeracha tried to bridge the distance and become friends.
The gifts that little Bikeracha shared, treats that Naoki had bought for it.
And when little Bikeracha learned that Gorebyss had no mother, it offered to share its own mother, even though she was once its mother too.
Gorebyss recalled its own weakness and naivete back then...
It couldn't bear the thought of little Bikeracha ending up in that machine, transported to a world full of dangers, Gorebyss thought.
Although it had always looked down on the tiny Bikeracha, Gorebyss didn't want it to face the same perils. It wanted to protect the younger version of its companion.
Gorebyss made a firm decision in its heart. It wanted to tell Naoki about this, but not yet.
If it revealed the future, it would cease to exist. It wanted to stay by Naoki's side a little longer before it had to disappear.
Naoki hadn't expected Gorebyss to be troubled by this matter.
He was taken aback, his thoughts wandering slightly before he guessed, "Did you see the news on TV about humans passing away and leaving their Pokemon alone in this world, and that's why you're feeling sad?"
Gorebyss looked at him, blinking, and then proceeded to lie, "Agas." (Yes.)
"You silly thing," Naoki chuckled, relieved, as he patted Gorebyss's head. "I haven't told you about this before, have I? Humans don't immediately disappear from this world after they pass away. Their souls leave their bodies and linger in places they frequented when they were alive."
"Until the Grim Night, the guardian of the spirit realm, arrives to guide their souls into the realm, where they will reincarnate and be born anew."
"When that happens, and if Grim Night comes for me, it will be up to you to protect me. I will exist as a soul and achieve a kind of immortality, allowing us to be together forever," Naoki explained.
Gorebyss listened intently to these new revelations.
Indeed, Naoki had never shared these details with it before.
But soon, Gorebyss remembered that it couldn't stay by Naoki's side forever. When it revealed those future events, it would have to leave.
And then, there would be no one to protect Naoki.
"Agas!"
Gorebyss suddenly stood up, anxious and pacing back and forth as it realized this point.
This wouldn't do!
But what could it do?
Soon, an idea sparked in Gorebyss's mind.
It had an epiphany! What if it taught its past self some of its abilities so that the younger version could protect Naoki?
Seeing Gorebyss's worried expression, Naoki was speechless. "Calm down... It's too early to talk about that now. I still have a long life ahead of me."
Talking about death at this moment was a bit too ominous! Naoki quickly steered the conversation away. "Stop, stop, stop!"
Gorebyss halted.
Naoki took a deep breath and said, "Now you know.
This was the only way he could think of to reassure Gorebyss.
As Adake had realized, the future was uncertain, and what mattered most to them was cherishing the present and enjoying every moment they had with their Pokemon.
Upon hearing this, Gorebyss' eyes lit up, and it immediately pinned Naoki down with one claw and started licking his face with its long tongue.
Naoki, now covered in Gorebyss' drool, could only smile helplessly.
Oh well, as long as Gorebyss was happy.
After Gorebyss finished its enthusiastic face-washing, Naoki got up and said, "Alright, go and play with everyone else now! I just caught a new Pokemon outside, and I need to find a suitable place for it to stay."
Gorebyss nodded in understanding.
Naoki bid it farewell and set out to find a comfortable spot for Snorlax on the ranch.
Gorebyss, meanwhile, approached Bikeracha and stared into its eyes.
A suitable living space for Snorlax on the ranch...
In truth, Snorlax was an extremely adaptable Pokemon with very simple needs when it came to food and shelter.
As long as it wasn't an extreme environment like an icy glacier or a volcanic crater, Snorlax could simply lie down and sleep anywhere.
Naoki surveyed the ranch, his eyes landing on the empty lot across the river. Considering Snorlax's characteristics, an idea quickly formed in his mind.
Slide, seesaw, sandpit, tree swing, Snorlax's belly, trampoline...
Naoki made his way to the empty lot, eyeing the spacious area before him. He then released Snorlax from its Poke Ball, and with a flash of white light, Snorlax appeared on the grass, still fast asleep.
"Gentle nature... belly that can be used as a trampoline..."
Naoki pondered for a moment before carefully climbing onto Snorlax's huge, bouncy, and soft belly, which resembled a water bed.
Snorlax: zzZ
"Looks like it's still deep in slumber!" Naoki bounced a couple of times, but Snorlax didn't stir at all.
With the blue sky and white clouds above and a gentle breeze blowing, Naoki lay on Snorlax's belly, using it as an outdoor bed.
Two words: pure comfort!
Not just children, even adults loved Snorlax!
After lounging for a while, Naoki reluctantly got up from Snorlax's belly.
He looked around at the grassy field, his mind already planning out the layout of this area.
First, he would plant a large tree next to Snorlax and set up a wooden swing underneath it. That way, he and the Pokemon could enjoy the breeze and swing together.
Secondly, he would dig a big pit in the grass, fill it with thick, golden sand, and create a sandpit for sandcastle building and sunbathing.
Lastly, he would install a slide and a seesaw on the other side.
With these plans, a relaxation park centered around Snorlax would be complete.
The sandpit and swing set were easy to procure; he just needed money to buy them. As for the tree, he could ask Leiwang to help accelerate its growth.
Full of enthusiasm, Naoki drove to Kerri's place that afternoon and ordered a batch of wood. He also bought a tree seedling from Eero's seed shop—one that would grow tall and sturdy.
Additionally, he went to a department store and purchased a slide and a seesaw.
To create the sandpit, he drove to the beach, loaded his car with sand, and brought it back to the ranch.
Once all the materials were ready, Naoki led a group of Pokemon to start the construction project.
They hammered and screwed the slide and seesaw into the grass, dug a large pit, and dumped the sand into it.
Next, Naoki planted the tree seedling and summoned Leiwang.
A dense light enveloped the small seedling, and in an instant, it transformed into an eight-meter-tall, robust tree.
The final step was to assemble the swing set and secure it under the tree.
In the evening, as the sky was painted with vibrant hues of sunset, Naoki stood with a group of Pokemon around the small park they had created, with Snorlax at its heart.
"Alright, from now on, you guys can come here to play!" Naoki declared with a grand gesture.
Before he could finish his sentence, a group of excited Pokemon rushed towards the playground.
Eguipeng was intrigued by the swing and, after some experimentation, figured out how to sit on it and swing back and forth.
The Hakulongs were fascinated by the children's slide. They flew onto it and slid down the channel, emitting excited "Woom woom woom" sounds as they played.
Meanwhile, Babutuobo and Shuangnaixian gathered around Snorlax.
After some cautious testing and with Naoki's permission, they cautiously climbed onto Snorlax's belly and started jumping up and down, using it as a trampoline.
Just watching these Pokemon enjoy the playground he had built brought immense joy to Naoki.
To foster a closer bond between the Pokemon and Snorlax, Naoki returned to the house, found some tree fruit, and made two large boxes of Big Eater Energy Blocks. He then gave these treats to Babutuobo and the others.
"As a thank-you for letting you play on its belly, give this gift to Snorlax!" Naoki smiled and added, "Don't forget to say thank you."
The scent woke Snorlax, who opened its drowsy eyes.
Then, it saw a group of adorable little Pokemon standing before it, saying thank you while offering delicious treats.
Snorlax opened its mouth, clearly startled by this sudden turn of events.
But soon, it regained its composure and took the two boxes of Energy Blocks, devouring them in one gulp.
With its belly full, Snorlax contentedly lay back down on the grass and fell into a deep slumber.
Before falling asleep, it stretched out its body, exposing its big belly for the tiny Pokemon to play on.
Naoki stood at a distance, watching this heartwarming scene with a smile on his face.
Perfect, the amusement park is now complete.
Next, it's time to build the Mareep ranch and raise those soft and fluffy sheep Pokemon.
But before that, he needed a good night's rest.
After a busy day, Naoki returned home to enjoy the delicious dinner prepared by his sister, Aiganxi.
Meanwhile, in the Johto region, there lies a beautiful water city called Oudomare.
After a long flight over the ocean, the Adventurer Squad finally arrived at this city.
It was a stunning city of water, with intricate canals winding through it, and as the sun rose, the entire city was bathed in a soft morning glow.
The people and Pokemon living here navigated the canals in flat-bottomed boats, starting their day with a unique charm.
The bustling market noises, the sound of flowing water, and the chiming of the bells from the grand cathedral in the city center blended to create a vibrant atmosphere.
Unnoticed, on top of the cathedral, stood a bird Pokemon with a sharp gaze and yellow feathers, carrying a pouch. Accompanying it were two small and adorable Pokemon.
Teddiursa stood atop the cathedral, listening to the mellow yet somewhat dull chiming of the bells, gazing down at the vast city below with an unusual gleam in its eyes.
"Yimo!" (So beautiful!)
Mew's blue eyes sparkled as it gazed at the Pokemon running in the streets and the food stalls along the roads, then spoke:
"Miu!" (Let's go get something to eat!)
Teddiursa readily agreed.
The two Pokemon turned to Zapdos.
Zapdos paused for a moment, then sighed, "Chuu." (Go ahead, I'll wait here for you.)
Its large size might draw unwanted attention, so it was better to stay put and wait.
"Yimo~"
"Miu~"
Mew and Teddiursa happily nodded and took a few berries they had picked earlier from Zapdos's pouch before quietly flying down.
Just before landing, Mew silently changed its form, transforming into a tiny Carvanha, blending in with Teddiursa as they ran on the cobblestone roads.
They approached the food stall, gazing longingly at the treats displayed on the counter.
The stall owner, an elderly woman with silver hair, smiled at the two Pokemon, "Two cute little ones, are you hungry? Would you like some of Grandma's candied hawthorn berries? Come, have some!"
She offered them two skewers of the delicious treat.
Teddiursa and Mew reached out to take them and placed the berries they had brought along with a few small pearls on the counter.
As Naoki had taught them, this was an exchange.
When they wanted something in a human town, they must not steal but offer something precious in return.
The old lady was taken aback for a moment, then her face lit up with an even broader smile, "Oh, are you paying for the candied berries? You two are such adorable little ones! Here, take these extra skewers as well!"
Her heart melted at the sight of these adorable and well-behaved Pokemon, and she lovingly handed the extra skewers to Teddiursa.
With their treats in hand, Mew and Teddiursa happily bid the human goodbye and turned to leave.
As they reached an alley with no one around, Teddiursa suddenly became alert and turned to look behind.
"Miu?"
Mew, who had just resumed its original form, was puzzled by Teddiursa's action and turned to follow its gaze. There, they saw a girl in a short skirt standing at a distance, curiously watching them.
The two Pokemon froze for a moment.
But the girl suddenly ran towards them, leaning in close to Mew and examining its face intently.
"Miu!"
Mew was startled by this sudden movement.
Teddiursa whispered, "Yimo..."
However, the next second, a smile appeared on the girl's face.
Immediately after, she transformed as well.
From a human girl, she became a mysterious Pokemon with a streamlined body! The lower half of its body was red, with jet engine-like wings, fin-like feet, and a blue triangle mark on its chest.
The upper half of its body was white, with a red face, triangular ears, and a white pentagon pattern on its forehead.
The Pokemon blinked, then a naive yet happy smile appeared on its face.
Mew and Teddiursa were frozen in place, astonished by this turn of events.
