Chapter 360: You Said Lucy Was Cute, and You Even Hugged Her
Chapter 360: You Said Lucy Was Cute, and You Even Hugged Her
Gray dared not eat the unknown thing, so Natsu took it away.
Juvia pouted in the corner; she had specially gotten up early to make it.
"Oh~~ It tastes great! Delicious!" Natsu wolfed it down. Since it was Gray's thing, Natsu still asked, "Want to try some?"
"Pass." Gray looked around, "By the way, I haven't seen Lucy all morning. Did she go out on a job?"
Natsu mumbled, "She should be at home? Maybe she hasn't woken up yet, drooling on her pillow or something."
Happy suggested, "Love, ask Mira and Rod, and you'll know."
"Good idea." Gray went to the counter to ask about Lucy.
Rod temporarily put down his chopsticks and said, "I think I saw her hanging around the bulletin board, but she didn't ask anyone to team up for a mission."
"Nope." Mira confirmed, "Lucy didn't take any missions. She looked at the bulletin board for a while and then left."
"Yesterday she said she had no money to pay rent," Rod thought for a moment, "She might be feeling guilty, thinking that everyone can't work normally because of her."
Gray frowned, "We should go check on her at her place."
Mira propped her cheek, smiling, "Gray seems to care a lot about Lucy."
Gray's eyes wandered, "Because... Lucy is new, and she's been through so much. It's only right to care a bit more."
Rod, of course, sided with Mira, teasing, "When I was new, you didn't take care of me like this?"
Gray countered, "Isn't having Mira take care of you enough?"
"It's enough..." Rod held Mira's hand and waved it in front of Gray, "So, your desire to take care of Lucy is the same as Mira's desire to take care of me?"
"Not at all!" Gray's face turned a bit red, and he fled, "Anyway, I'll go check on Lucy first!"
Rod shouted after his back, "Put your clothes on before you go!"
Gray ran over to pick up his clothes and quickly left.
"Maybe Gray really likes Lucy," Mira said enthusiastically, already having new gossip material.
"Where did Gray go?"
These people didn't want Rod to eat in peace. As soon as Gray left, Natsu and Happy came over.
Rod said, "He went to Lucy's place. He's worried something might have happened to her."
Happy flew off without a word, "So sneaky, I'm going to Lucy's place too!"
Natsu placed his empty lunch box on the counter and chased after, "Wait for me, Happy!"
"Where are you guys going? We still have work this afternoon," Elusa also followed.
"Is something really wrong with Lucy?" Rod was also starting to worry, with the main characters all mobilized because of a small coincidence.
It felt like the prelude to something big.
Mira looked at him and softly said, "If you're worried, you should go check on her too."
"Should I... go?"
"Sure." Mira pulled Rod's half-eaten bento to her side and said, "I remember, Rod cares about Lucy too."
"Huh?" Elfman slapped the table and was about to stand up, thinking Rod dared to abandon his sister.
But he was pushed back down by Mira.
"That's not what I said, there were special reasons..."
"Right, right, I remember." Mira fiddled with the utensils, speaking softly without any anger, as if she had let it go:
"I remember the day we got back, you saved Lucy at a critical moment, said she was cute, and even hugged her."
"That..." Rod was flustered by her tone, and Elfman's murderous gaze was hard to hide.
Mira interrupted him, "I also remember that you even bet with me over Lucy earlier."
"..." Finally, Rod was certain that Mira was playing him, "I lost that time, and we haven't fulfilled our bet yet."
"Go away, you're all sweaty." Mira casually made up an excuse to push away Rod, who was trying to get close to her.
Rod gave up struggling, "Fine, how do you want to punish me?"
"I'll add two more punishments."
"...Alright."
Mira smiled slyly, "Then you better be prepared."
Rod resignedly said, "I'll keep my word."
"Okay, first, finish the bento. Second, go to Lucy's house and get my luggage." Mira winked at him, "Is that too difficult?"
Rod rested his chin on his hand and stared at her for a while before laughing, "I think I'm done for."
Mira pushed the bento box back with a mischievous smile, "Hurry up and eat, the heat preservation magic will wear off soon."
Elfman scratched his cheek with his index finger, looking at his sister and then at Rod, wondering what had just happened. Did Rod really change his mind? Was his sister really angry?
When Rod arrived at Lucy's house, the front door was wide open.
He saw Elusa skillfully making tea with Lucy's teapot.
"She might be taking a bath," Gray said as he headed towards the bathroom, sounding a little hopeful, "Maybe some cliche plot will unfold next."
However, Natsu suddenly emerged from the bathroom.
"You're too fast!" Gray seemed to have taken over Lucy's usual role of making sarcastic comments, "Why did you rush straight to the bathroom?"
Rod knocked on the open door, "You guys are so casual."
"Rod, you're here too?" Elusa brought the teapot and cups to the table, "Would you like some tea?"
Rod nodded, "Yes, I just finished eating and I'm a bit thirsty."
Gray sat down as well, "You're not being very polite."
Rod held the teacup and said matter-of-factly, "Of course I am, I told you I'd come over... Where's Lucy?"
"She's not home, we're looking for clues." Natsu looked around and suddenly pointed at the suitcase by the window, "That one looks suspicious, Lucy might be hiding inside!"
Gray scoffed, "Who would hide in a suitcase?"
Natsu was a man of action, and he immediately decided to take action, "We'll just open it and see!"
However, Rod supported himself on the table with one hand and performed an elegant gymnastics move, flipping over the table and kicking Natsu out the window, sending him flying onto the street below.
"Wah!" Natsu landed on the street below in a spread-eagled position, his limbs twitching slightly.
The passersby were startled and recognized the familiar cherry pink hair and the emblem on his arm, so they carefully avoided him.
They immediately identified him as a Fairy Tail mage, with their tough and resilient bodies, a mere fall from the second floor wouldn't be fatal.
Natsu jumped up and pointed at the second-floor window, shouting, "What are you doing, Rod! Do you want to fight?"
Rod replied, "I'm saving you, anyone who messes with that suitcase will die."
Elusa asked, "What's wrong with that suitcase?"
Happy quietly tiptoed over, his curiosity as a cat compelling him to take a look inside the suitcase.
"This is Mira's suitcase, she asked me to help her retrieve it." Rod smiled at Happy, "Do you want to give it a try?"
"I..." Happy started to sweat, "No, never mind."
Rod's mischievous smile reminded him of Mira.
Why was it so powerful? The monthly ticket ranking had risen to 33rd place, and the readers were too strong...
