Chapter 360: Liquidation
Chapter 360: Liquidation
"However, this is a good thing, but unfortunately, I can't learn it all at once."
"The casting of a Level 2 Spell requires Mental Condensation, which is also a prerequisite for learning Level 2 Spells," Rain thought to himself.
At this moment, the girl Georgia beside him curiously wandered around, as this was her first time in the Sea God Sect's so-called storage room.
She randomly picked up an old book from a pile of miscellaneous items, dusted it off, and then made out the large characters on the cover, muttering softly, "Otakar's diary?"
"Hmm?"
Just as Rain was about to open the scroll to take a look at the Level 2 Metallurgy Spell 'Cutting Net', he suddenly froze.
Otakar?
Wasn't this the real name of the 'Cutter'?
Rain immediately turned around and looked at Georgia, saying, "Georgia, please let me take a look at the diary in your hand."
"Of course, sir." Georgia stuck out her tongue, feeling a little embarrassed, and immediately ran over to hand the unopened diary in her hand to Rain.
"Don't touch anything here without Rain's orders," Vandar whispered in Georgia's ear.
"I just flipped through it casually. You're praising me, Rain!" The girl was speechless as she looked at her brother, who had become a loyal follower of Rain.
As Rain flipped through the pages, his brows gradually relaxed, and by the end, he couldn't help but smile.
After skimming through a dozen pages, Rain let out a long sigh.
He closed the diary and stood up.
Perhaps the greatest gain from this wasn't the Level 2 Metallurgy Spell 'Cutting Net', but this diary.
It turned out that 'Cutter' Otakar wasn't from a Wizard School, he was originally just a Wandering Wizard Apprentice, but he was incredibly lucky.
Under the favor of the Goddess of Fortune, he explored an ancient ruin during his time as a Tier 3 Wizard Apprentice, and surprisingly, he obtained a fragmented ancient Wizard School inheritance.
Yes, it wasn't just a single spell or potion formula, but an inheritance that included multiple spells and a step-by-step cultivation experience.
If this situation occurred among a hundred Wizard Apprentices, there might still be a few.
But it was rare for the inheritance to be so perfectly suited to one's own circumstances, and this kind of luck was probably one in a thousand.
After personally practicing it, Otakar realized that his fragmented inheritance contained a Spell Combo.
A Spell Combo, simply put, was a form of attack where two or more spells cast in a specific way, causing the spells' power to increase geometrically.
Otakar's fragmented inheritance included a Spell Combo composed of the Level 2 Metallurgy Spell 'Cutting Net' and the Level 0 Spell 'Sharpening'.
It was the simplest Metallurgy Spell Combo, containing only two spells, one of which was a Level 0 Spell.
Of course, even the simplest Spell Combo had requirements. It needed to solidify the Level 2 Metallurgy Spell 'Cutting Net' as an Innate Spell, and at the same time, compress the casting time of the Level 0 Spell 'Sharpening' to within 0.1 seconds.
This was why Rain couldn't help but smile when he read this part.
It was as if the Spell Combo was tailor-made for him, and anyone who saw it would likely burst into laughter.
Otakar, after becoming a Level 2 Wizard and solidifying 'Cutting Net' as an Innate Spell, spent a lot of time diligently practicing 'Sharpening'.
Rain, however, could skip this process. As long as he solidified 'Cutting Net' as a Level 2 Innate Spell, he could cast the combo spell.
In the end, he mastered this recorded combo spell, but no one else knew about it.
So, to outsiders, Otakar's 'Cutting Net' seemed incredibly powerful, and they attributed it to his natural talent, earning him the nickname 'Cutter'.
Even if some Wizards felt puzzled, they attributed it to Otakar's exceptional talent, believing he had the ability to modify and enhance the Level 2 Metallurgy Spell 'Cutting Net'.
If it weren't for the fact that Rain was currently in the Sea God Sect's old lair in Howling Gorge, he would have immediately immersed himself in further research without rest.
Rain might have forgotten to eat and sleep as he delved deeper into the research.
"Georgia, thank you very much. This diary is very useful to me. Please help me search here for some more information related to it." Rain picked up the Otakar diary in his hand and indicated it with a smile.
"Of course, sir. These are your spoils of war, and I found them by accident." Georgia, upon hearing Rain's praise, became quite excited, and she even glanced sideways at her brother.
See, he's criticizing me again!
Vandar couldn't help but laugh at his sister's reaction.
At this time, Rain smiled and said to Vandar, "Vandar, please select the most valuable and portable items here, and we'll evacuate in half an hour."
"As you wish, Lord Rain." Vandar was far more respectful than his sister, bowing slightly.
Half an hour later, although Georgia searched meticulously, she still couldn't find anything more valuable in the pile of miscellaneous items. The potion formulas she discovered were only briefly glanced at by Rain before he dismissed them.
They were all apprentice-level potion formulas.
Of course, there was a high possibility that more valuable formulas had already been sent away by Harfus.
Otakar's diary, as a record of a metal-type wizard, likely held less importance in the eyes of Harfus and the others, which was why it was casually discarded here.
Soon, over a dozen warhorses, heavily laden with spoils, mission tokens from the Slasher Nagas and Thickshell Crabmen, and other items, made their way back to the town.
The heaviest load was at the back of the procession, where three simple carts carried two lumps of bloody mud and soil mixture dug up from the ground, as well as the massive head of Deep Sea Giant Dunn.
The two lumps of bloody mud and soil mixture were the bodies of Harfus and Eura, both in a meat patty-like state, mixed with compressed soil, making them quite heavy.
According to Vandar, although they were heavy, it was still worth transporting them back and claiming a high reward from the Empire.
As for Dunn's head, even though it was just a single head, its length exceeded one meter, and its size resembled a large vat, making it quite heavy.
Fortunately, the three carts were covered with cloths, otherwise, they might have scared many passersby along the way.
However, even with the cloths, the strong stench of blood, mixed with the seafood smell from the giant crab claws in the sacks on either side of the horses, still lingered in the air, attracting curious glances from many onlookers.
This situation continued until the group reached Ilgarra Town, where it reached a climax.
"Hey, Vandar! Did your Frostclaw Bear Mercenary Corps go fishing? It smells awful!" A hulking scar-faced man with a square iron shield on his back approached, unable to hide his disgust.
"Spencer, your mouth stinks worse than the smell!" Vandar immediately retorted.
However, as the two men drew closer, they embraced each other and patted each other's backs, followed by hearty laughter.
This was the rough way mercenaries greeted each other.
"Vandar, it seems you've had a good harvest this time."
"By the way, have you heard the big news? The Primordial Dragon Kraxis has been killed by a man!" Spencer immediately shared the shocking news with Vandar.
"You mean Primordial Dragon Kraxis? The mutated dragon that even Winterfort Academy's Dean Batralov couldn't handle?" Vandar exclaimed in surprise.
He had originally intended to share his legendary experience with Spencer, but he was caught off guard by this astonishing news.
"Yes, it's said that a man named Rain directly fought and killed Primordial Dragon Kraxis and even obtained multiple Iceplain Beast clans. This news has already spread among Winterfort Academy and some nearby forces."
"Huh? What did you say? Rain?"
Upon hearing this news, Vandar and the other members of the Frostclaw Bear Mercenary Corps were stunned, as if struck by lightning.
"How about that! Shocked, aren't you?" Spencer was very satisfied seeing Vandar and the others' stunned expressions.
Damn, he was also shocked when he first heard the news.
That was Primordial Dragon Kraxis, a formidable being even Dean Batralov of the Frostwind Tundra couldn't handle.
However, the next moment, Spencer found it odd that Vandar and the others seemed to instinctively glance at a young man in a white wizard's robe among the group.
Spencer took a good look at Rain, but he couldn't gauge Rain's strength, so he quickly lost interest.
Instead, he became curious about what Vandar had in the cart that emitted such a strong bloody smell.
Spencer walked up to the cart, and before Vandar could stop him, he ripped off the cloth covering.
Spencer and the few people beside him stared at the cart, and in the next moment, they were shocked to see a massive head lying there, its lantern-like eyes glaring at Spencer.
The oppressive feeling was so intense that it instantly overwhelmed the minds of those around him.
Even Spencer, who was quite powerful, almost had his soul scared away! The mercenaries around him also looked as if they had seen a ghost, retreating in fear.
"Is that a giant's head?!"
"It has a sea-like stench, it must be a Deep Sea Giant's head."
"But aren't Deep Sea Giant heads smaller than this?"
"Indeed! The Deep Sea Giant skull that the Blood Wolf Mercenary Group retrieved last time wasn't even half this size. Could this be some sort of leader among the Deep Sea Giants?"
"When did the Frostclaw Bear Mercenary Corps gain such strength?"
For a moment, the people around them whispered among themselves.
Even the mercenaries and wizard apprentices further away, along with the town guards patrolling Ilgarra, gathered out of curiosity.
A bearded middle-aged man with a goatee, dressed in noble hunting attire and riding a horse, was among them. He couldn't help but be deeply moved by the sight.
He turned to the guard beside him and asked, "Go and find out the name of that mercenary group."
"A legendary Deep Sea Giant, it must be the Deep Sea Giant Overlord Dunn, who was recently added to the High Bounty List with a reward of 2 million gold coins!" the bearded man muttered.
However, without Rain's permission, Vandar naturally couldn't reveal the truth. He claimed that they had encountered a powerful being who killed the Deep Sea Giant Overlord, and they were fortunate enough to benefit from it.
Vandar's explanation only made the onlookers envious, their mouths watering.
When Rain returned to the forest and reunited with Anna, the delighted Anna, like a graceful butterfly, flew into Rain's embrace.
The other members of the Frostclaw Bear Mercenary Corps didn't mind this display, assuming that the girl was Rain's beloved. However, Georgeya's heart fluttered with a peculiar feeling.
After all, a boyfriend like Rain was every girl's dream prince. Of course, this sour feeling came and went quickly.
Having only known Rain for a short time, Georgeya's jealousy soon dissipated.
Anna hugged Rain tightly before noticing the others behind him, causing her to blush and shyly step away from Rain's embrace.
Naturally, she was curious as to why Rain had returned with ten strangers after being gone for most of the day.
"Anna, this is Vandar, the leader of the Frostclaw Bear Mercenary Corps."
"And this is his sister, Georgeya."
Rain introduced them one by one.
It was clear that Anna was more interested in Georgeya, who was around her age, as her beautiful eyes curiously examined the other girl.
"Hello, Anna, it's an honor to meet you!" Georgeya slightly bent her knees and curtsied politely.
"Hello, Georgeya, nice to meet you too," Anna replied with a smile, still unsure why Georgeya was being so respectful, as if she were a dignitary.
After some small talk, Rain and Anna mounted the Blood Feathered Hornbeast and headed back to Winterfort Academy.
The Frostclaw Bear Mercenary Corps followed on horseback.
As they watched the Blood Feathered Hornbeast take flight, Vandar and his group couldn't help but sigh in awe.
Upon their return to Winterfort Academy, Rain and Batalov briefly discussed their trip to Howling Gorge.
Soon after, Melita placed several documents about spell combos, a combination of spells, on Rain's desk.
Rain immediately began studying them intently.
After half a day of careful consideration, Rain decided to choose 'Cutting Net' as his Tier 2 Innate Spell.
He had considered the possibility of more powerful metal spell combos, but after reviewing the documents, he realized that such spell combos were rarely passed down, especially those involving metal.
Rain couldn't afford to delay his advancement indefinitely just to search for more powerful spell combos. That would be putting the cart before the horse.
Additionally, according to ancient texts, many spell combos were discovered by ancient wizards during battles, which led Rain to a hidden suspicion.
However, this suspicion could only be confirmed once he reached the Tier 2 Liquidation Wizard stage.
Since 'Cutting Net' was a Tier 2 spell, he needed to first advance to the Tier 2 Liquidation Wizard level to learn it.
Rain opened the wooden box and took out seven Soul Energy Crystals, holding them in his hand. He quickly activated the Iron Heart Advanced Meditation technique, and the system prompt sounded:
[Ding! Detected Soul Energy Crystals capable of enhancing mental vaporization. Do you wish to accelerate absorption? (Note: System absorption can remove impurities and complete absorption in one go.)]
"Yes!"
Instantly, Rain felt the silver mist in his mental sea rapidly increase. Soon, about ninety percent of his mental sea was filled with silver mist.
Rain glanced at the system panel:
Spirit: 73 (Vaporization: 90%)
"Hmm? During the previous battle, I gained 5 points in Spirit, and my vaporization rate increased to 72%. Now, it's at 92%, but the Soul Energy Crystals only increased it by less than 3%."
After some thought, Rain decided to use the remaining three Soul Energy Crystals from the wooden box.
Soon, Rain successfully raised his mental vaporization rate to 98%, surpassing the minimum requirement of 90% for advancing to the Tier 2 Liquidation Wizard stage.
