Chapter 36: A New Plan
Chapter 36: A New Plan
Pushing open the door and entering the room, Jerry saw his luggage already placed beside the bed closest to the door.
The bed was a traditional four-poster, draped with green silk curtains and a quilt embroidered with silver threads.
Similarly, the windows in this room had been enchanted, allowing a view of the lake outside and even the gentle lapping of the water.
Falling asleep to the soft sound of rippling water must be quite pleasant!
No wonder the prefect had said that the Slytherin common room was the best among the four houses.
If you could overlook the excessive green, it was indeed quite nice.
"Alright, Crookshanks, don’t be impatient, I’ll let you out right away!"
Seeing Crookshanks meowing in his cage on the bedside table, Jerry hurriedly raised his hand to calm the cat and then approached to open the cage.
Because Crookshanks was very smart and could find his own food, Jerry never kept him caged at the orphanage.
This was the first time, and it must have been quite distressing for him.
"Meow!"
As soon as Jerry opened the cage, Crookshanks let out an excited meow and darted like a yellow lightning bolt toward the window.
"Crookshanks, stop!"
Jerry’s heart skipped a beat, and he immediately realized something was wrong. He hurriedly shouted at Crookshanks.
However, it was too late.
Crookshanks, seeing the various fish swimming outside the window, his eyes gleamed with excitement, and he headbutted the invisible magical barrier in the middle of the window.
It was as if he had collided with a transparent pane of glass.
"Thud!"
Crookshanks slid down from the barrier, his already flat face seeming even flatter.
"Oh, you silly cat, I take back what I said about you being smart!"
Jerry couldn’t help but laugh and shake his head, covering his forehead.
However, as a cat with Kneazle blood, Crookshanks was much stronger than an ordinary cat. This little collision was clearly nothing to him.
He stood up again, a bit dazed, and pawed at the invisible magical barrier, tilting his head as he watched the fish swimming outside, seeming to question his feline existence.
Seeing this, Jerry decided to leave him be and started unpacking his luggage, picking up the timetable on the table.
At that moment, familiar shouts came from the doorway. It was the Little Malfoy Trio, who had seen Jerry’s name outside.
"Hello!"
Seeing the Little Malfoy Trio push open the door, Jerry greeted them friendly.
Since they were all in Slytherin and would be living in the same room, Jerry thought it might be wise to ease the tension a bit.
After all, while the Little Malfoy Trio could be a bit mischievous, they weren’t irredeemable.
"I want you to know, I’m not afraid of you. My father is on the Hogwarts board of governors. If you dare to lay a hand on me again, I’ll have him expel you.
And wizards should settle their disputes with magic. Once we’ve learned enough, we should have a fair magical duel!"
Little Malfoy, clearly having made up his mind outside, entered the room with Goyle and Crabbe standing five meters away from Jerry, speaking with a fierce but hollow tone.
"Sure, no problem. I’m not one for violence. As long as you don’t provoke me, I won’t do anything to you!"
Jerry shrugged and readily agreed.
The Little Malfoy Trio heaved a sigh of relief at this.
Don’t be fooled by how arrogant they act in front of other young wizards, especially muggle-borns, as if they’re invincible.
They are, after all, just three eleven-year-old kids.
Being disciplined and intimidated by Jerry on the train had left a deep shadow in their hearts.
From the original story, it’s clear that the Little Malfoy Trio’s courage isn’t as great as it seems. They were so frightened by Ron’s rat biting them on the train that they panicked and fled.
After officially agreeing to coexist peacefully, the Little Malfoy Trio no longer feared Jerry as much. They began to tidy up their luggage and beds.
That night, once the Little Malfoy Trio had fallen into a deep sleep, Jerry quietly got up, took his magic book, and left the room.
Unlike other young wizards, who were exhausted from the day’s events, Jerry’s physical condition meant he hadn’t used much energy.
However, being sorted into Slytherin was a significant surprise for him.
As a result, he had to completely revise his original plans.
Unlike Gryffindor, if he wanted to maximize his benefits in Slytherin, he needed to be outstanding—outstanding in every aspect, to the point of being overwhelmingly superior.
Just like the young Old Voldy.
Old Voldy was born in a muggle orphanage and was a half-blood, yet he thrived in Slytherin, a house that values family background and blood purity. He became an idol that all Slytherins adored.
This was because he was exceptionally talented.
During his time at Hogwarts, Voldemort was poor but exceptionally intelligent, orphaned but both wise and brave. He was a prefect, a heartthrob, and a model student.
He appeared polite, quiet, and insatiable in his quest for knowledge. Almost everyone had a good impression of him.
In particular, the then-head of Slytherin, Professor Slughorn, doted on him so much that he didn’t even hide the secrets of Horcruxes from him when Voldemort inquired.
If Jerry wanted to learn as much magic as possible at Hogwarts, Old Voldy was his role model.
However, with his current learning ability, he knew it wouldn’t be enough. Achieving top marks in every subject was a far cry from just being average.
Therefore, he decided to change his strategy and use a large number of Little Red Stars to accelerate his learning.
His original plan was to use the Little Red Stars primarily to maintain his stay in the wizarding world and to learn a few crucial spells.
After all, subjects like History of Magic, Astronomy, and Herbology weren’t urgent and could be studied later when he earned more Little Red Stars.
Moreover, each time he returned to the Main World, he had to wait a month before he could re-enter.
Now, if he wanted to emulate Old Voldy, he needed to use a lot of Little Red Stars to excel in every subject, becoming the best student. Only then could he stand his ground in Slytherin.
Most importantly, he had no connection to Snape. If he wasn’t outstanding, he wouldn’t catch Snape’s eye.
Arriving at the Slytherin common room, Jerry sat on the sofa, using the "Brain Booster" function, and opened his magic book. He began to memorize the material for the next day’s History of Magic class.
