Chapter 358: Order of the Phoenix Meeting
Chapter 358: Order of the Phoenix Meeting
"There were two Dementors at the intersection of Privet Drive and Magnolia Crescent. They attacked Harry, and it seemed they were waiting for this opportunity. As soon as Harry ventured out from the Dursleys, they launched their attack."
"After I rescued Harry, the Ministry of Magic immediately sent me an owl with a letter from the newly appointed Minister, Scrimgeour, who had been in office for only three days. He instructed me to bring Harry to the Ministry of Magic immediately, saying that only there could he be kept safe."
"Then I took Harry back to the Dursleys, and at that moment, I received a letter from Professor Dumbledore, instructing me to bring Harry from his aunt's house to the Order of the Phoenix. During this time, the Ministry of Magic sent a second letter, which was much more stern than the first, demanding that I bring Harry to the Ministry of Magic immediately."
"I ignored it, and after taking Harry away from the Dursleys, I went home to fetch my broomstick and flew here. Scrimgeour sent me three or four more letters, but I didn't bother opening them."
After Sherlock finished speaking, the meeting room fell into a silence. Then Kingsley spoke up.
"Scrimgeour wants to have Harry under his control."
Mad-Eye Moody snorted.
"His character is much stronger than Fudge's, but being too strong isn't always a good thing. Now that both Sherlock and Harry are with us, this new Minister of Magic is feeling threatened."
Mr. Weasley frowned and added.
"Scrimgeour's stance against Voldemort won't waver, but he has never seen himself as one of us. He likely wants to take Harry away. He can't use Sherlock's reputation, but he might try to manipulate Harry."
Lupin spoke softly.
"The good news is that he didn't send anyone to interfere with Sherlock's actions to remove Harry. This shows he doesn't want to escalate things with us."
Sirius Black sneered.
"Unless he's ten times stupider than Fudge, he should know that the wizarding world can't afford another internal conflict. The best scenario is for the Ministry of Magic to remain separate from the Order of the Phoenix. Any hostility or cooperation between the two would be detrimental."
Sirius Black is still a fugitive. On the night Voldemort returned, the Aurors didn't directly capture Peter, but someone saw his face.
Now that Scrimgeour is in power, he is consolidating and tightening his control, so he has little interest in clearing Sirius Black's name.
However, according to Kingsley, the Auror Office has already rescinded the warrant for Sirius Black's arrest. This means that all he needs for a public exoneration is an official announcement from the government.
"Tomorrow, I will speak with Rufus about the Ministry of Magic's concerns", Dumbledore's voice was calm but clear to everyone in the room. "The letters from the Ministry of Magic are not the main issue; the two Dementors are."
"Kingsley, did you hear anything about Dementor reassignments at the Ministry when you came here?"
Kingsley shook his head.
“No, sir. Scrimgeour has been very focused on the security of Azkaban since taking office. He is well aware that the island is home to the Dark Lord's most loyal followers. Therefore, not only has he not signed any orders to transfer the Dementors away from the island, but he has also increased the number of Aurors stationed there.”
Professor Mcgonagall, seated across from Sherlock, furrowed her brow.
“The Dementors are only found on that island in all of Britain. If these creatures have found Potter, it means there is a problem with the prison! Albus has always believed that the Dementors are untrustworthy. They don't care about the Ministry of Magic; they will be loyal to anyone who can feed them.”
Dumbledore looked at Kingsley and spoke.
“Talk to the Aurors who have been rotating back from Azkaban Island. Try to gather as much information as you can about the Dementors' recent activities.”
Seeing Kingsley nod silently, Dumbledore then turned his gaze to Mad-Eye.
“Alastor, how has the surveillance on those individuals been going?”
Mad-Eye Moody's prosthetic leg, as if by instinct, tapped the floor.
“The Wizards suspected of aligning with the Dark Lord have been acting suspiciously. They are frequently holding gatherings, and our people can't get inside those places. We don't know what they are discussing, but it's definitely not good news!”
“Do we have any information on him?”
Dumbledore did not name anyone, but everyone in the room knew who "he" referred to.
“No, I can guarantee that. If he had made contact with his followers immediately, we would have known.”
After Mad-Eye Moody's words, Dumbledore turned his attention to Snape, who had been silent.
“Have you had any recent sensations from the Mark, Severus?”
Snape's voice remained as cold as ever.
“No, he has not issued any summons.”
“The stab wound Sherlock inflicted on him was severe,” Dumbledore said somberly. “Combined with his recently restored but still weakened body, even if he survives, it will take him a long time to recover.”
Sherlock stroked his chin and spoke softly.
“I aimed for his heart specifically. Normally, if someone's heart is pierced, they would not survive. It seems his body has undergone some changes since his resurrection.”
When the conversation turned to this person, even within the Order of the Phoenix, the atmosphere became somewhat tense.
After all, the name Voldemort carries a heavy weight. Sherlock, not having grown up in the wizarding world, naturally did not feel the same level of pressure from the name as the others did.
The rest of the meeting focused on the reallocation of responsibilities. Several Wizards who should have been present were currently monitoring individuals like the Malfoys.
Following the Dementor attack on Harry, it was also necessary to send someone to Azkaban Island to keep an eye on things, rather than relying entirely on the Ministry of Magic.
The Order of the Phoenix had more Aurors than just Kingsley and Tonks. Dumbledore planned to have a member of the Order, who was also an Auror, request a transfer to the prison island to investigate the situation.
The meeting concluded after an hour. Dumbledore, who did not plan to stay, left using Apparition.
Sherlock, after saying his goodbyes to everyone and Harry, also left without intending to stay. At midnight, he returned to his home on Magnolia Crescent.
