Chapter 357: The Arrival of the Dark Elves (6000+)
Chapter 357: The Arrival of the Dark Elves (6000+)
One day earlier, on the Quinjet.
Coulson's team was celebrating the successful disarming of a high-yield explosive device when a message suddenly came through on Coulson's phone.
"We have a mission. Near Greenwich University in London, there are suspected Meta-humans. Headquarters needs us to investigate and register them."
"Meta-humans like Chen Haoran?"
Skye, with her formidable hacking skills, exclaimed in surprise.
Previously, a registered Meta-human by S.H.I.E.L.D., Chen Haoran, had been kidnapped by an unknown force for body experiments. When the team went to rescue him, they nearly got burned to a crisp.
"This one seems more powerful than Chen Haoran. According to the intel, she repelled over twenty police officers, including their police cars!"
Coulson's expression turned serious.
"Fitz, headquarters has already sent the specific details of the Meta-human to the Quinjet. Go and retrieve them."
"Yes, sir."
The young, genius mechanical physicist, who looked to be in his early twenties, quickly walked to the control panel. After a flurry of operations, a virtual screen popped up from the control panel.
"Daisy Louise, a graduate student at Columbia University."
"It's her?"
Coulson looked at the photo on the screen and let out a light exclamation.
Mel, the familiar pilot and field agent, raised an eyebrow.
"Coulson, you know her?"
"I've met her once, in New Mexico. At the time, she was an intern assistant to Thor's girlfriend."
Coulson briefly recounted the events from New Mexico.
"Could this be related to the Asgardians?"
Field agent Grant analyzed.
Coulson thought for a moment.
"We'll only know once we get there. Regardless of whether it's related to the Asgardians, we need to handle it. Now, turn the Quinjet around, we're heading to London!"
"Wow, all old friends!"
Jerry stepped through the portal and saw Thor, Jane, Coulson, and the other members of Coulson's S.H.I.E.L.D. team on the Quinjet.
"My good friend Jerry, it's been a while!"
Thor immediately gave Jerry a big hug upon seeing him.
"It's been a while, Thor. Where's Daisy? Can you tell me what happened?"
After hugging Thor, Jerry looked around but didn't see the Daisy Thor had mentioned. He then asked.
"Daisy passed out and is in the medical bay. She's being examined by a lady named Jemma. I'm not entirely sure what happened. Jane and I just arrived, so you should ask Coulson for the details."
Thor turned to Coulson, indicating that he should explain.
Reluctantly, Coulson stepped forward and recounted the entire story.
After receiving the intel yesterday, they rushed to the Greenwich area in London as quickly as possible.
At the time, Daisy was surrounded by police and special forces in an abandoned building. According to the police and the intern who was with Daisy, they discovered strange gravitational phenomena in the building and went to investigate with their equipment. Daisy then disappeared for five hours, and the intern had to call for help.
Strangely, the police found Daisy reappearing out of nowhere shortly after they arrived.
However, when the police tried to arrest her for trespassing, Daisy suddenly released a powerful energy that repelled the officers and nearby police cars.
Experienced Coulson guessed that something special must have happened to Daisy during those five hours. Using S.H.I.E.L.D.'s authority, they took control of the abandoned building and calmed Daisy down through conversation.
Daisy, however, insisted she had contacted Jane and Thor and wouldn't leave until they arrived.
After that, things were straightforward. Thor and Jane appeared, and they brought Daisy aboard the Quinjet. Thor, sensing the powerful energy within Daisy, believed human technology couldn't help and called for Jerry.
"Do you know what Daisy experienced during those five hours she was missing?"
Jerry rubbed his chin, suspecting that the energy inside Daisy was related to her disappearance.
Jane, who was standing next to Thor, replied:
"Before we boarded the Quinjet, Daisy told me that while investigating the building, she was suddenly sucked into a mysterious spatial dimension. She saw symbols similar to those left by the Bifrost during teleportation. She felt something enter her body and then found herself back in the building."
"Sir, our instruments can only detect that Miss Daisy has an enormous amount of energy, but we can't determine its nature or extract it."
At that moment, Jemma Simmons, the genius biologist whom Jerry had saved, walked into the meeting room with the test results.
“Mr. Witch!”
When Jerry appeared, Jemma's face immediately lit up with surprise.
Last time, due to her emotional state and Witch's quick departure, she hadn't had the chance to properly thank Witch for saving her life.
“Hello, Miss Jemma, are you feeling better now?”
Jerry greeted her with a smile.
Coulson had mentioned before that Jemma was an extremely capable biologist, and perhaps her expertise might be useful when he started researching the Sorcerer Bloodline in the future.
“Thank you, I've fully recovered!”
Jerry nodded, then turned to Coulson.
“Take me to see Miss Daisy!”
“Have all the Hydra spies been caught?”
As they walked down the Quinjet's corridor, Jerry asked Coulson.
Coulson sighed and shook his head.
“I reported the information to Director Fury, and he has been investigating secretly. We have some leads, but it will take another one or two months to catch them all.”
Witch's true identity was classified as top-secret information within S.H.I.E.L.D., and very few people had access to it.
Furthermore, to avoid being tracked by Witch, they had even killed a Level 6 agent who was secretly working for Hydra. This clearly indicated that there was a highly ranked Hydra spy hidden within S.H.I.E.L.D.
So, after receiving Coulson's secret report, Nick Fury only called in a few of his most trusted agents and started a covert investigation. He wanted to uncover all the Hydra spies within S.H.I.E.L.D. before they realized they were being investigated, and then catch them all at once.
“If you need any help, feel free to contact me!”
Jerry nodded, then pulled out a Magic Mirror and handed it to Coulson.
Once Nick Fury had rooted out all the Hydra spies, Jerry could help out and earn more Red Stars. Additionally, this would also make Nick Fury owe him a favor, a win-win situation.
“That would be great!”
Coulson took the Magic Mirror, his eyes lighting up.
“Don't bother me for trivial matters. I'm usually busy, so only contact me if something major comes up that you can't handle. Also, you should know my rules: either pay me or give me something valuable.”
The Magic Mirror he had given Coulson earlier was taken by Nick Fury, so he gave Coulson another one now.
Coulson's team specialized in handling unconventional and special events, and they might encounter some significant incidents that could be a good source of Red Stars. He couldn't afford to miss out on this opportunity.
“This is it. Miss Daisy collapsed due to the energy she released to resist the police attacks. She fainted as soon as she got on the plane.”
Jemma, who was leading the way, entered a series of codes and opened a transparent, high-strength bulletproof glass door. Inside, Daisy was lying on the bed, unconscious.
Jane, looking worried, moved forward to touch Daisy but was stopped by Thor.
“The energy inside her is very unstable. It's best not to stimulate her.”
“Everyone except Thor, please step outside!”
As a Mage, Jerry's perception was much stronger than Thor's. As soon as he entered the room, he sensed the massive energy within Daisy and quickly realized that it was more than just ordinary energy.
So, he asked everyone except Thor to wait outside.
If the energy inside her were to explode, everyone except him and Thor might get hurt.
Hearing Jerry's somewhat serious tone, Coulson didn't hesitate and immediately signaled his team to retreat behind the glass door.
Jane looked at Thor, then also stepped back.
“What's happening? Is it dangerous?”
Thor asked.
Jerry nodded.
“I can sense that the energy inside Daisy contains extremely complex fundamental cosmic laws. It might be similar to the Cosmic Cube and the Mind Staff. I suspect it's the legendary Aether Particles.”
Before going to Kamar-Taj, Jerry might not have been able to confirm this.
But during his time there, he had read extensively from the library and frequently consulted the Ancient One, learning many secrets.
Among these was the Ancient One's role as the guardian of the Time Gem and the origins and capabilities of the six gems that Thanos would collect in the future.
By sensing the energy and comparing it to the Cosmic Cube and the Mind Staff, he initially determined that the energy inside Daisy was likely the Reality Gem in the form of Aether Particles.
The Cosmic Cube, representing the Space Gem, was in Odin's vault in Asgard. The Mind Staff, representing the Mind Gem, was in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s possession. The Eye of Agamotto, representing the Time Gem, was with the Ancient One.
The Orb, representing the Power Gem, was said to be on a distant planet light-years away from Earth, and the Aether Particles, representing the Reality Gem, were sealed by Odin's father, Bor, in an unknown location within the Nine Realms.
The most mysterious of all, the Soul Gem, is not even mentioned in a single book in Kamar-Taj's library. It only states that there is a guardian, and one must pass a test to obtain it.
Therefore, after much consideration, the ever-changing energy within Daisy, which contains the fundamental laws of countless universes, is most likely the Aether Particles, representing the Reality Gem.
Since Earth is one of the Nine Realms, Daisy might have accidentally triggered Bor's seal. As for why Daisy could enter the place where Bor sealed the Aether Particles, he had no idea.
"Didn't your grandfather destroy the Aether Particles?"
Thor's face showed surprise when he heard the term "Aether Particles."
Jerry was equally surprised:
"Destroyed? The records I saw say it was sealed."
"I heard from Odin when I was a child. Odin said the Dark Elves wanted to use the Aether Particles to plunge the universe back into darkness. Then, my grandfather led the Asgardian warriors to kill all the Dark Elves and destroy the Aether Particles."
Thor recalled the story Odin told him and Loki about their grandfather's battle against the Dark Elves to protect the Nine Realms, over a thousand years ago.
"It seems either your grandfather lied to Odin, or Odin lied to you, because the Aether Particles are now inside Daisy."
Jerry shrugged.
He had found the record about Bor sealing the Aether Particles in a book on the Ancient One's private bookshelf, and the author of that book was the Ancient One herself.
The Time Gem has the power to see the past and the future, so he assumed the Ancient One learned these secrets through the Time Gem and recorded them.
"Alright, regardless, can you save Daisy? Otherwise, Jane will be heartbroken!"
Thor could understand that Odin might have lied to him. After all, Odin didn't tell him that Loki was the son of a Frost Giant and not his real brother.
The current priority is whether they can remove the Aether Particles from Daisy's body and help her return to normal.
"I'm not sure; I need to try to know. That's why I asked everyone to leave."
Jerry slowly walked to the unconscious Daisy and gently extended a bit of his mental power to examine her.
The Reality Gem has the immense power to ignore any scientific laws and turn any thought into reality, making it one of the most difficult gems to control.
Jerry, encountering it for the first time, couldn't guarantee he could safely remove it from Daisy's body.
"To be honest, I think taking her to Asgard would be the safest option. After all, your grandfather sealed the Aether Particles, and King Odin must have a way to safely extract it."
"I'm afraid that's not possible. I can't return to Asgard, at least not in the short term."
Thor's voice was full of helplessness.
Before Jerry could ask why, Thor began to ramble:
"The last time I returned to Asgard, Odin learned from Heimdall that Jane and I had a fight. He thought I wouldn't return to Midgard and was very happy, even planning to hold a grand ceremony to pass the throne to me.
But later, I couldn't bear to leave Jane, so I refused.
Odin was furious and ordered Heimdall not to open the Bifrost for me, so I can't return to Asgard for a while..."
Thor didn't dare tell Jane about this mess and could only confide in Jerry.
Jerry, listening to Thor's rambling, couldn't help but shake his head.
Whether on Earth or other planets, whether domestically or internationally, these kinds of issues always turn into a mess.
"Thor, here's a suggestion: have a child with Jane as soon as possible!"
With a child, even if Odin doesn't like Jane, he probably wouldn't oppose their relationship anymore.
"Oh, I like that idea!"
Thor's eyes lit up, and he turned to look at Jane, who was worriedly watching from outside the glass wall.
Jane shivered slightly when she saw Thor's intense and subtle gaze.
"Boom!"
Suddenly, a powerful energy surge erupted from Daisy's body. Thor, caught off guard, was sent flying and crashed into the bulletproof glass wall, causing the onlookers outside to step back in fear.
Fortunately, Thor's body was incredibly strong. The impact, which would have broken several ribs for a normal person, only left his face a bit sore.
"I'm fine, I'm fine!"
Thor got up, moved his mouth and nose, and waved to Jane outside with a silly smile, indicating he was okay.
Outside the glass wall, the mixed-race beauty Skye, with an Eastern appearance, whispered to Jemma:
"So the Thor from mythology is like this? Why does he seem a bit... silly to me!"
"Coulson says they are just aliens who have lived longer than us. He may be a bit silly, but his physique looks pretty good. Let me tell you a secret, Witch's physique is also great. The last time he carried me..."
Jemma and Skye, standing at the back, whispered to each other.
"This is going to be troublesome!"
Jerry dispelled the iron armor spell that had blocked the energy surge, stopped casting Magic, and walked out of the medical room.
"What's wrong, Jerry? You can't help her either?"
Thor followed and asked.
Jerry shook his head:
"I do have a way to extract the Aether Particles from her body, but as you can see, the Aether Particles will continuously release energy waves to resist the extraction."
"You're worried the energy waves will destroy the plane. We can land and find an open area to extract the Aether Particles."
Thor thought he understood Jerry's concern and immediately suggested a solution.
Standing at the back, Jemma raised her hand and explained:
"I think Mr. Witch isn't worried about the plane, but about Daisy's body. From our recent examination, we found that every time the energy is released, it puts a significant strain on Daisy's body. If the energy is released too many times, Daisy's body might explode."
Jerry nodded, though it wasn't entirely accurate, it was close enough.
He had conducted a detailed examination of Daisy's body, trying to avoid touching the Aether Particles and their energy rebounds. He also attempted to use Magic to forcefully extract the Aether Particles while protecting Daisy's body as much as possible.
Unfortunately, Daisy is just an ordinary human, and her body, though healthy, cannot withstand the continuous energy fluctuations released by the Aether Particles during their resistance. While Jerry's Magic prevented her body from exploding, she could still die from the shock.
Earth's ordinary humans are simply too weak. If she were like Thor or even a common Asgardian, this wouldn't be an issue. Or if Daisy were a highly trained agent, similar to the skilled Black Widow or the Chinese-American agent Melinda, who always stands by Coulson's side.
"Is there no other way?"
Thor noticed Jane's face turn pale and turned to look at Jerry.
Jerry smiled:
"Of course there is, but not here. We need to go to another place."
He indeed had no way to extract the Aether Particles without harming Daisy, but he knew someone who could.
That person is the Ancient One, the Supreme Sorcerer!
In the Himalaya Mountains, the Kamar-Taj Reception Hall.
The Ancient One was stirring the freshly made milk tea, prepared according to Jerry's recipe. Since tasting milk tea, she found that adding honey to tea was far inferior in comparison.
Just as she was about to take a sip, she suddenly looked up at the central open space of the hall.
A second later, a portal slowly appeared.
It was Jerry opening a portal from the Quinjet to Kamar-Taj.
"Good afternoon, Ancient One!"
Jerry, carrying Daisy, stepped through the portal first, followed by a surprised Thor and Jane.
"Good afternoon, Carmen!"
The Ancient One saw Jerry and smiled, nodding. She then glanced at Daisy in Jerry's arms and sighed softly:
"The Aether Particles, sealed for five thousand years, have reappeared. This is not a good omen!"
After sighing, she regained her smile and greeted Jane and Thor warmly:
"Welcome to Kamar-Taj, Dr. Foster, and Thor of Asgard."
"Greetings, Ancient One!"
Jane and Thor were surprised that the Ancient One recognized them, but they politely responded.
Jerry noticed that the Ancient One showed no surprise at their arrival and could accurately call out Jane and Thor's names.
He knew the Ancient One must have observed their arrival in one of the many possible futures using the Time Gem.
"Ancient One, can you help Daisy extract the Aether Particles from her body?"
"Of course, but before that, we need to address another issue!"
The Ancient One placed the milk tea pot on the table and looked up through the window at the clear, cloudless sky.
At the same time, a massive, invisible warship had traveled through countless wormholes and arrived outside Earth.
The Dark Elf Battleship, awakened by the Aether Particles.
"Five thousand years have passed, and backward Midgard has advanced beyond its primitive state, becoming quite prosperous!"
Malekith, hands behind his back, gazed through the warship's glass at the blue planet below and the satellites orbiting it, and sighed.
To him, five thousand years of sleep was just a moment. He vaguely remembered the great battle before he fell asleep and how Midgard, often the battlefield of the Nine Realms, used to be.
"Even with their low-level technological civilization, they are still no match for us!"
A strong Dark Elf beside him said with disdain.
In their eyes, Earth's current technological civilization was far from capable of exploring the universe, confined to the planet's surface, and thus not considered powerful. Their true opponents were the Asgardians.
Malekith nodded, a glint of determination in his eyes:
"Indeed, stronger ants are still ants. Our goal is to rule the entire universe with the Dark Elves!"
