Chapter 357: Shocking Lupin for a Whole Year
Chapter 357: Shocking Lupin for a Whole Year
After about ten minutes, the two Dementors finished inspecting all the compartments and left, and the lights in the corridor and on the shelves returned to normal.
The dim yellow light seemed to dispel the cold, and as the surroundings lit up, voices began to fill the train.
"What was that just now...?" Conna asked.
"Dementors." Kyle placed the luggage back on the shelf and replied, "The guards of Azkaban."
"I know they were Dementors." Conna shook her head. "I'm asking about the spell you just used to dispel the cold."
"Oh, you mean that..." Kyle took some chocolate and distributed it to everyone. "The Patronus Charm, the simplest and most effective way to repel Dementors."
"Ah? Wasn't that the Lumos Charm you used just now?" Fred, sitting next to her, asked subconsciously.
He only remembered that the compartment lit up after Kyle drew his wand; wasn't that the Lumos Charm?
Kyle ignored him.
Although both the Lumos Charm and the Patronus Charm produced light, the difference was too obvious... Well, if you didn't look closely, they did appear similar.
"A perfect Patronus?" Conna was curious. "What does it look like?"
"The light will condense into a silvery-white animal." Kyle explained, "It can run and jump in mid-air as if it were alive."
"Is it difficult?" Conna asked.
She remembered that she didn't see any animals in the compartment just now.
Although she really wanted to learn this spell, if even Kyle couldn't achieve it, there was no point in wasting her time.
"It's hard to say. It's difficult, but not too difficult." Kyle explained, "If you have a deep and joyful memory, learning this spell will be much easier."
His Patronus Charm was learned in Romania with Newt, and the memory he chose was mainly the excitement of receiving the Hogwarts acceptance letter.
There was also the image of Snape trying to dig through the castle floor with his toes upon hearing the words 'Half-Blood Prince'.
The effect was remarkable.
He mastered the Patronus Charm in just two days.
However, there was no need to cast a complete Patronus Charm just now. The Dementors were acting under the command of the Ministry of Magic, and the focus was on the Ministry, not the Dementors themselves.
Therefore, before this command was completed, they wouldn't leave, as the Dementor just now had proven.
Forcibly driving them away might backfire and even anger them.
There were hundreds of students here, and Kyle didn't dare guarantee that he could protect everyone, even with Professor Lupin's help.
In a state of extreme fear, not everyone would obey.
...
After the Dementors left, the train started moving again.
The group sat in their seats, discussing what had just happened.
George was unlucky; his teeth were chattering earlier, making a series of 'clack-clack' sounds, and now he was naturally the target of everyone's jokes.
He tried to explain that it was due to the cold, but no one believed him.
Whether it was from fear or the cold, it didn't matter. Now, everyone needed a new distraction to dispel the negative impact of the Dementors, and George was the perfect candidate. There was no way around it; he just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Among them, Fred had the loudest laughter.
As for George himself... Sometimes, anger and embarrassment are more effective than happiness. While vigorously defending himself, he had already forgotten about the Dementors.
The train continued to travel, and outside the window, the rain formed a continuous curtain.
"Let's go check on Harry." Fred, who had just finished teasing George and now seemed refreshed, suddenly said, "I think I heard Ron calling out that he had fainted."
"Sure, let's go take a look." Kyle nodded.
Harry Potter, a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, was in a private compartment on the Hogwarts Express, accompanied by his friends Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and Fred and George Weasley. They had just heard a scream, and Harry had fainted, moaning in his sleep as if he had experienced a terrifying dream.
The compartment was crowded with curious onlookers, all trying to catch a glimpse of what was happening inside. However, the presence of a professor deterred them from entering. Fred and George, under the pretense of visiting their younger brother Ron, pushed through the crowd and entered the compartment.
As they entered, Professor Lupin, who had been writing a letter, looked up at them. His gaze lingered on Fred and George's red hair for a moment before he returned to his writing, allowing them to stay.
"Kyle," Hermione asked anxiously, "do you have any way to wake Harry up quickly?"
"That's not difficult," Kyle replied. "You can either wait for him to wake up naturally, or you can try a more drastic approach by splashing cold water on his face, preferably with ice chips. A single basin should be enough."
"But where can we find ice water?" Ron asked.
"You're a wizard, Ron," Hermione said impatiently, brandishing her wand.
"No need for that," Kyle waved his hand dismissively. "I have a better idea."
At that moment, Professor Lupin finished writing his letter, and Kyle walked over to open the window. A gust of cold air, mixed with rainwater, blew into the compartment, directly onto Harry's face.
Harry, lying on the floor, shivered and opened his eyes groggily.
"There you go," Kyle said, closing the window again.
Ron and Hermione quickly helped Harry back into his seat.
"Are you okay?" Ron asked anxiously.
"I'm fine," Harry replied, and then he quickly glanced towards the door. The cloaked figure was gone, and only a row of heads remained outside, all of which quickly retreated upon catching his gaze.
"Where... where did that thing go? Who was screaming just now?" Harry asked.
"No one was screaming," Ron assured him.
"But I heard it... a woman's scream," Harry insisted.
"It might have been a Dementor triggering some unpleasant memories," Kyle suggested.
Kyle offered Harry a piece of chocolate, saying, "Have some, it'll help you."
Behind them, Professor Lupin also held a large piece of chocolate. However, upon seeing the beautifully packaged chocolate with French writing in Kyle's hand, he glanced at his own crudely wrapped, large block of chocolate worth three Sickles and quietly put it back into his pocket.
"That chocolate must be worth five Sickles," Professor Lupin thought to himself. "These young wizards are so wealthy these days."
Meanwhile, Harry took a small bite of the chocolate and was surprised to feel a warm sensation spreading throughout his body, instantly making him feel much better.
"Thanks!" Harry said, looking at Kyle. "This chocolate is really good. Where did you buy it?"
"I don't know," Kyle shrugged. "It was a birthday gift from a French friend. It came in a big bag of candies, and this was one of them."
"French goods are probably expensive," Ron said, swallowing hard.
"Ten Galleons for a single piece of chocolate," Cedric suddenly spoke up. "I saw this brand in a magic shop in France when I was traveling there. They say it's made with fifty years' worth of golden bee honey and Re'em cow milk, making it ridiculously expensive."
"Clang!"
Behind them, Professor Lupin's wand dropped to the floor, and he stared at Kyle in shock.
"Ten Galleons... for a piece of chocolate?"
"These kids are filthy rich!"
