Chapter 356: This Mission Can't Be Completed on Its Own, Right?
Chapter 356: This Mission Can't Be Completed on Its Own, Right?
Thinking about it, Ivan even suspected that the System might have bound itself to the wrong person.
Despite Ivan often complaining about the System being unreliable, he understood deep down that if he wanted to gather people to achieve great things, Knockturn Alley was indeed a good choice.
The Wizarding World had just experienced a major upheaval a little over a decade ago. Anyone who dared to follow in the footsteps of the two Dark Lords, openly promoting their ideologies and rallying Wizards to form a force, would certainly attract the attention and vigilance of the Ministry of Magic. They might be crushed before they even had a chance to grow.
But Knockturn Alley was different. It was far from the Ministry's line of sight, less likely to draw attention, and was a haven for numerous dangerous Dark Wizards. If he could unite them, it would certainly be a formidable force!
"Unfortunately, I'm not the material for a Dark Lord", Ivan shook his head with self-mockery.
He knew himself well; Ivan lacked the talent for management. If he were to gather a large number of Dark Wizards under his command, it would only bring him unnecessary trouble.
So, no matter how well the System's mission was arranged, Ivan had no intention of taking it on. After all, there were no penalties for not completing the mission, so he might as well just leave it be.
It can't complete itself, right?
Ivan smiled, remembering how the last mission, the Dark Lord's Wish, was completed by Tom. Reflecting on it now, it seemed quite coincidental.
Since he judged that the new mission was unlikely to be completed, Ivan put it aside and continued studying Brock's Alchemy Notes, not stopping until late into the night.
The next morning, after a hurried breakfast, Ivan entered the hall, intending to ask Fleur and others for some wolf blood to brew the latest Wolfsbane Potion.
To his surprise, after a quick round, Ivan found that the Werewolf Wizards were nowhere to be seen.
When he asked Aisha, she told him that they had left last night and had not returned yet.
It wasn't until the afternoon that Fleur and others, looking exhausted, walked in through the door. Several Werewolves were carrying two unfamiliar Wizards on their shoulders.
"Fleur, what's going on?" Ivan saw their weary appearance and had a hunch, though he wasn't entirely sure.
Before Fleur could answer, Walker chuckled and said, "Didn't you ask us to catch the spies Brock sent out? Well, here they are!"
"So quickly? You didn't sleep all night, did you?" Ivan confirmed his earlier guess and, combining it with what Aisha had said, realized they must have started the mission last night.
"Hehe, I told everyone last night that you were willing to hire us. They were so excited they couldn't sleep, so we decided to complete the task you gave us first!" Walker scratched his head and laughed sheepishly.
Ivan shook his head helplessly. While he wanted the Werewolf Wizards to help him deal with these potential threats, he wasn't in such a rush. A few more days wouldn't have mattered.
"Capturing these spies is better done sooner rather than later. Once they become wary and run, it will be much harder to find them", Fleur explained.
The other Werewolf Wizards also chimed in, saying they had been too idle lately and had nothing to do, so going out to catch a few spies was a good way to stretch their legs.
And with the clues and secret signals that Ivan had obtained from Brock, finding people was relatively simple.
Fleur put down the Dark Wizard he had been carrying on his shoulder, then his expression became more serious as he continued to speak.
"We have only managed to capture two people so far. The other four are still at large. From the information we gathered, they have likely fled Knockturn Alley. Capturing them will probably take some time."
Four people?
Ivan’s mind stirred, remembering how he and Sirius had eliminated four of Brock’s subordinates in Knockturn Alley. He then smiled and said,
"You don’t need to worry about those four. They are probably already dead."
Fleur was taken aback, not quite understanding why Ivan was so certain.
But Fleur didn’t ask further. Ivan was not an ordinary young Wizard. If he said it, there must be a reason. Perhaps he had received some reliable information.
Since this matter involved the Time Turner, it was too complicated to explain, so Ivan didn’t bother to go into detail. Instead, he mentioned that he had developed a new type of Improved Wolfsbane Potion.
"What?" Upon hearing that Ivan had achieved a new breakthrough so quickly, Fleur and others became immediately excited.
"Of course, this improved Wolfsbane Potion cannot completely cure your condition. It’s just an enhanced version of the regular Wolfsbane Potion. The specific effects will be clear once I brew it", Ivan added to avoid any misunderstandings and potential disappointment.
Fleur’s face did not show any disappointment. He had never expected a problem that had plagued him for decades to be solved so quickly. Instead, he expressed gratitude.
"This is already wonderful! I don’t know how to thank you, Hals! I didn’t realize you had been thinking about the Wolfsbane Potion all this time!"
Walker and the others were equally moved. In their eyes, Ivan had made tremendous efforts to help them, these Werewolf Wizards, lead normal lives as soon as possible!
They might not understand how difficult it was to improve a Potion, but they knew it certainly wasn’t an easy task, often requiring a great deal of time and effort in experimentation.
No wonder Ivan often held a book or notes; he must have been researching ways to improve the Wolfsbane Potion.
Realizing this, many of the Werewolf Wizards hurried to urge Ivan not to rush, to take care of his health, and to rest more. They would wait, no matter how long it took!
Ivan felt a bit embarrassed. He hadn’t actually spent much time on the Wolfsbane Potion; the two formulas were gifts from the System.
However, in the midst of their gratitude and encouragement, Ivan couldn’t possibly undermine himself. He had to agree with a thick face.
"By the way, my improved Potion needs a test subject. Who among you is willing to help?" Ivan recalled the purpose of finding them and asked.
Despite the many unknown risks associated with drinking an improved Potion, none of the Werewolf Wizards in the room cared. They all expressed their willingness to be his test subjects.
After all, if an outsider like Ivan could work so hard, how could they, the Werewolf Wizards, be afraid of risks and hold him back?
