Chapter 355: Tier 2
Chapter 355: Tier 2
What the hell?
Linen's eyebrows furrowed as he watched the three individuals slowly surrounding him.
According to Julia's explanation, they were all 'cargo' meant for him, to enhance his cultivation.
They were supposed to be restrained and at his mercy, but now they had unexpectedly broken free from their bindings.
Even Mandy, who was supposed to be guarding them, was barely conscious.
What had gone wrong?
"Swish!"
Before Linen could figure it out, the person on his left transformed into a spider the size of a millstone.
The spider's body was engulfed in scorching flames.
A First Rank creature - a Flame Spider! Spiders usually feared fire, but there were always exceptions, and the Flame Spider was a legendary creature that could manipulate flames.
With a sudden pounce, the spider's sharp and slender legs became like spears, rapidly piercing towards Linen.
The spears seemed to form a dragon's tail, leaving afterimages in their wake.
"Swish!"
The ground beneath Linen's feet splattered with mud as he nimbly dodged through the gaps between the spider's legs, like a lively snake.
Before he could land, a dark figure appeared in front of him—a fire fox several meters long, baring its teeth.
The fire fox crouched on all fours, its surrounding flames condensing into blades that rushed towards Linen like a fierce wind.
"Hiss..."
Linen's body shimmered, transforming into a Flame Scale Wyrm, its serpentine body coiling around the fire fox.
On the other side.
"Roar!"
The last person transformed into a giant tiger, its ruby-like eyes glowing with intense heat.
As the tiger prepared to launch its attack, a floating human skin suddenly appeared in front of it.
"Whoosh..."
The skin billowed in the wind, instantly transforming into a three-meter-tall giant, which then delivered a crushing headbutt.
The Hundred-Face Demon, Susan!
"It seems your cultivation was gained by devouring others, and you don't even know how to use wizardry."
The Flame Wyrm, barely a Second Rank, held its ground against the two First Rank Late-stage monsters.
However, their techniques were peculiar, and for a moment, Linen couldn't gain the upper hand.
"Aren't you the same?"
The Flame Spider's legs pierced as it spoke in a shrill voice: "Although we don't know wizardry, we possess top-tier battle techniques from the Roll Family, collected from other worlds. They are especially suited for our current bodies."
"Receive my Thousand Spider Sting!"
The Flame Spider's body flickered, moving erratically from east to west, making it hard to predict. Its spider legs were even more ferocious, making it difficult to defend against.
The fire fox was equally formidable.
It pounced, whipped its tail, bit, and controlled flames to create fiery hurricanes.
Although they didn't know wizardry, their growth was a result of constant battles, and their strength couldn't be underestimated.
Especially in this relatively confined courtyard, close-quarters combat favored animal instincts over wizardry.
Even a Late First Circle Wizard would likely struggle in this situation.
"Boom!"
The house was swept by flames, collapsing instantly.
The courtyard stones, transformed into blades of fire, shattered into fragments and then melted by the intense heat. Indeed!
The Roll Family had trained them to be elite fighters, and resources were never spared.
These battle techniques, tailored for their unique bodies, were rarely encountered even by their original forms. For a moment, they were flustered.
Susan, however, was struggling.
The Hundred-Face Demon feared fire, and its many faces screamed in agony under the scorching flames.
Fortunately, Linen's deep cultivation and experience as a battle technique master helped him adapt, gradually turning the tide.
"Swish!"
The massive, slender serpentine body weaved through the air, lightly brushing away the attacking spider legs and trapping the Flame Spider.
"Hiss..."
Linen spat out a snake's tongue, instantly immobilizing the Flame Spider.
Die!
With a roar in his mind, Linen bit down, twisting the Flame Spider's head right off its body.
During this brief respite, the Fire Fox also managed to land a few fierce attacks on Linen, tearing open several ghastly gashes on its serpentine body.
But it was of little consequence.
"Hiss!"
The Flame Wyrm pounced, spewing raging flames from its mouth.
"Boom!"
The Second Rank Flame was clearly beyond the Fire Fox's expectations, and upon impact, it let out a miserable cry, pained cry as its offense crumbled instantly.
Seizing the advantage, Linen showed no mercy and rushed forward, using its serpent tail to lash and its fangs to bite, pinning down another opponent.
"Hiss..."
The serpentine body coiled, turning to face the last Fire Tiger.
"It's just you left!"
The Fire Tiger had just knocked the Hundred-Face Demon away but had no time to catch its breath before witnessing the deaths of its two companions, leaving it momentarily dazed.
"How could this be?" it muttered.
"We are the best among our peers in the Abyss Cavern, and we once helped kill a Tier 2 Wizard."
"You..."
"Abyss Cavern?" Linen shifted his body, "The place where the Roll Family trains their fighters?"
"Bang!"
The two colossal beasts collided with full force, creating a dull, thunderous sound.
The Fierce Tiger was renowned for its strength, but the Flame Wyrm was known for its agility. Surprisingly, the Tiger was sent flying backward from the impact.
"Forget it," Linen shook his head, "Your origins are of no concern to me. Now, die!"
Just as he was about to pounce, his body flickered, and he instantly transformed from the Flame Wyrm back into his human form, swiftly retreating at high speed.
At that very moment, a large net descended from above, landing precisely where the Flame Wyrm had been, leaving evenly spaced imprints on the ground.
If Linen had retreated just a fraction later, he would have undoubtedly been torn apart on the spot.
"Who?"
"Useless," Creigh appeared in the air, clad in black robes and with an annoyed look in his eyes as he glanced at the Fierce Tiger in the arena, "Three of you together, and you can't even take down one person."
The Tiger retracted its claws, its beastly face displaying a human-like embarrassed expression, and it obediently retreated behind Creigh.
"Hmm..." Linen turned to the newcomer, "Did you help them escape?"
"You must be from the Roll Family as well. Did you not consider the consequences of offending Senior Julia?"
"Senior Julia wants results, not the process," Creigh shook his head, "As long as someone can lead her to the Viper Academy's outpost in the Starrealm, it doesn't have to be you."
"Forget it!"
"There's no point in explaining this to you. Since these three can't handle you, I'll have to take action."
"Swish!"
Before Creigh finished speaking, a white light suddenly erupted from Linen's body in the arena, and he charged towards the courtyard's exit.
"Trying to escape?"
Creigh's expression remained unchanged, "A First Circle Wizard, impossible..."
"Hmm?"
His eyes narrowed, and he looked surprised, "The Three-Eyed Raven!"
At that moment, Linen had transformed into a white raven with three eyes, charging towards the barrier.
The once-impregnable barrier now rippled, and even the void seemed to tremble.
"Unbelievable!"
Creigh's face changed, and he extended his Second Circle Wizardry Mana Hand Technique, reaching out to grab Linen, "You've received the blessing of a Second Rank creature."
A year ago, Linen, upon becoming a First Circle Wizard, went to meet one of the guardians of the Viper Academy, the Three-Eyed Raven.
The Raven had given him a feather.
The Three-Eyed Raven possessed a legendary bloodline, rumored to be the messenger pigeon of an ancient deity.
It was known for its incredible speed and the ability to traverse space.
Of course, the Three-Eyed Raven was far weaker than its ancestors, and the feather Linen received only contained a fraction of its power.
While it could easily handle a First Circle Wizard, Linen now faced a Tier 2 Wizard.
