Chapter 355: Killing to Protect, Severing Karma, Not Lives - Part 1
Chapter 355: Killing to Protect, Severing Karma, Not Lives - Part 1
"The question now is where these scumbags are hiding." Hermione looked at the Hot Spring Inn not far away and said, "They shouldn't be here; it's too crowded and not conducive to secrecy."
"Right." After observing for a moment, Hermione turned and asked, "You said this inn is a Death Club lookout. So the receptionist should have connections with the club, right?"
"Probably." Liam nodded. It seemed Hermione's observational and analytical skills were indeed exceptional, able to grasp the key points so quickly.
With this confirmed, Hermione quickly sprang into action. Using the Disillusionment Charm, she approached the receptionist, who was wearing glasses, and stunned him with a Stunning Spell. She then dragged him into the small room behind the counter.
The room looked like a storage area, filled with various odds and ends. After transfiguring a pillow to resemble the receptionist and placing it on the counter, the two cleared a space in the storage room and dumped the man on the floor.
"Let me think. Ah, yes, this should work." Hermione muttered to herself, then drew a sword and made a cut on the receptionist's hand. She squeezed out some blood and smeared it on her own hand, then began to chant an Asshaiyan spell. As the spell's words echoed, the surrounding light dimmed sharply, and the air began to fill with a sweet, rusty smell of blood.
Blood Magic, the most bizarre form of magic in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire. In the low-magic environment of that world, using crude methods to activate such magic might be relatively subtle. However, in the Harry Potter world, where true wizarding power exists, the effects of Blood Magic, when driven by higher levels of magic, are far more pronounced. This is why they were hesitant to use such magic in the Harry Potter world in front of others; it didn't look very righteous.
"I know now." Hermione stood up, her face expressionless, but Liam could see the intense emotions in her slightly trembling lips.
"Reverse Flow." Hermione made a gesture at the man on the ground and chanted the spell in Asshaiyan. The man's skin turned bright red, and he curled up like a shrimp. But soon, everything calmed down, and the receptionist lay still.
It seemed Hermione had been practicing Blood Magic diligently lately, to the point where she could perform such complex magic. This particular spell used Blood Magic to reverse the flow of blood within the target's body, raising their blood pressure to extreme levels, causing fatal internal bleeding in the brain and organs.
The only drawback was that if the target was a magical creature with innate magic power, their internal magic would naturally resist the spell's effects. To make the spell effective, one would need to input a large amount of magic power directly into the target, overwhelming their internal magic. However, this required an excessive amount of magic power, making it far less practical than other spells.
"This man has been an accomplice in deceiving over 300 people onto the path of death over the years. I chose to punish him with my own methods." Hermione said, looking at Liam.
"You don't need to explain." Liam stared into Hermione's eyes. "You just need to do what you believe is right. This world is where you truly come to understand your own heart. Remember that everything that happens here is real, and every decision you make affects many lives. I'm here to help with logistical support and to ensure your safety. Everything else is your decision."
"I understand." Hermione nodded seriously. "Now we should head to those people's Death Club. The sooner we get there, the more people we can save. The club is located in an Abandoned Factory near the town. Of course, we should move quickly. That group contacts this Receptionist twice a day, and we need to rescue those innocent people before they realize something is wrong."
"Alright, I'll follow your lead." Liam nodded and followed Hermione out of the inn.
"The distance to the Abandoned Factory is quite a bit, do you have any good ideas to get there faster?" Hermione asked as they walked out of the inn.
"I bought a household Broomstick earlier. It can easily carry two people." Liam said, pulling out the broom from his Spatial Bag.
"Fly there? We're in a hurry, and I remember your flying skills aren't that great", Hermione said when she saw the broom Liam had taken out.
"Come on, get on." Liam mounted the broom and said, "This is the household version, much easier to handle than those racing brooms or the half-broken ones at School. Besides, your flying skills aren't much better, so don't complain."
"Alright, you're right. We don't have a driver's license, so we can't drive the car left at the inn. Riding the broom is indeed the fastest way." Hermione climbed onto the broom and grabbed the brass handle on the back seat. "Alright, let's go."
Indeed, the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. Although this household broom wasn't very fast, flying through the air allowed them to head directly to their destination without navigating the winding mountain roads. As a result, they covered the distance that would take over 20 minutes by car in just 10 minutes.
The destination was clearly a factory. The smokestacks and overgrown weeds indicated that it had been abandoned for quite some time. However, the presence of numerous armed guards with dogs patrolling the area and the vehicles parked nearby made it evident that this was no ordinary building. It was obvious that the Death Club's slaughterhouse was located here.
"Alright, let's sneak in first. We need to get a better look before we plan our next move." Hermione said as she jumped off the broom. "The memory of the person we questioned only had vague details, so we don't know the exact situation inside."
After casting a Disillusionment Charm on themselves, the two of them approached the factory. With the help of the shadow, their body temperatures matched the surroundings, easily bypassing the Infrared Alarms set up around the factory.
The place was indeed heavily guarded, but it was clear that they hadn't considered the possibility of magic. With magic, Liam and Hermione easily infiltrated the factory and figured out its internal structure.
The prison holding the innocent people and the killing area were both in the factory's basement, accessible only via two elevators. On the ground floor were the guard and surveillance rooms.
"Can you find a way to temporarily seal this place off?" Hermione asked. "Otherwise, once we start, many people might escape."
"No problem, watch this." Liam spent about ten minutes placing five Dragon Crystal Plaques around the factory. After setting up the plaques, he pulled out a Yellow Paper Talisman and tossed it into the air. The paper talisman ignited on its own, and once the charm paper burned out, Hermione suddenly felt that something was different about her surroundings, but she couldn't pinpoint what had changed.
Seeing Hermione's puzzled look, Liam explained, "This is called a Ghost Wall, an Eastern magical technique. For Wizards, a simple navigation spell will allow them to leave. But for those who don't know magic, they might never find their way out."
"Then, I'll start." Hermione nodded slightly at Liam and charged forward.
The weather here is a bit chilly and quiet.
