Chapter 355: Cedric's Source of Joy
Chapter 355: Cedric's Source of Joy
The train exhaled billows of steam as it traveled along the tracks.
Once Kyle and his group arrived, Conna and Autumn stopped reading the magazine with Luna and began sharing their holiday experiences.
When Autumn mentioned this, she became upset.
"Cedric, that liar!"
She huffed, "He told me that Beauxbatons Academy was in the Pyrenees Mountains, but we couldn't find the place he mentioned on the map.
We spent the entire day searching in circles and found nothing!"
"That's normal," Kyle said. "I'm not sure about the others, but the locations of the three major European magic schools are protected to prevent their teaching methods from being exposed and to safeguard the students and the schools themselves from harm."
"Just like Hogwarts, if a Beauxbatons student were to visit, they would only see a barren cliff."
Autumn and Conna were stunned.
Although they knew the school had protective magic, they had always assumed it was to prevent discovery by Muggles... similar to the Muggle-Repelling Charm at the entrance of the Leaky Cauldron.
They never imagined that this protection would also affect wizards.
"But why could Cedric..." Autumn wondered.
"Maybe he met someone before," Kyle thought for a moment. "If a professor or someone from the school mentioned the location of Beauxbatons to him, then the protection would become ineffective."
Or if a student led him there, it would be unaffected, similar to the Loyalty Charm."
Autumn recalled that Cedric had mentioned meeting an old wizard in France who told him the location of Beauxbatons Academy.
It was probably because of this.
Autumn felt a bit disheartened, wondering why she hadn't encountered such an opportunity...
"Loyalty Charm?"
At this moment, Ginny lifted her head from The Quibbler and said thoughtfully, "I think Dad mentioned this charm before, but I can't quite remember."
"It's a type of Vow Charm, usually used to conceal important secrets."
"Will the school teach this charm?" Ginny's eyes lit up with interest.
"No," Kyle shook his head. "The difficulty of this charm far exceeds the level of ordinary students. If you try to use it without sufficient strength, it might even backfire on yourself.
So, unless the professors think you're capable, they won't teach it even if you ask."
"Oh..." Ginny looked a bit disappointed.
"Ginny, do you have any secrets?" Fred asked with a mischievous smile.
George joined in, "Tell us, we promise not to tell anyone."
"You said that last time too," Ginny glared at the two of them. "If I had known this charm before the holidays, I wouldn't have been scolded by Percy for two months!"
Fred and George, realizing they were in the wrong, quickly retracted their necks.
The Hogwarts Express continued its journey northward, and the scenery outside became increasingly desolate as the high-altitude clouds thickened and the sky darkened.
People hurried past their compartment door.
"No fireworks in the corridor! Which house are you from?"
Percy's voice came from outside the door.
But instead of responding, they made even louder noises and ran off laughing.
Percy chased after them, shouting, "Stop! I'm the Head Boy!"
Suddenly, the door opened, and Cedric sneaked in like a thief.
"Oh... the Head Prefect is back." Fred smiled and asked, "Do you have any messages to pass on?"
"I'm here to deliver a message." Cedric closed the door behind him.
"You two better run." He looked at Fred and George with a heavy expression, "Percy already knows that you tampered with his badge. Judging by his reaction, he's probably going to kill you and then hang you outside the train for everyone to see!"
Fred and George exchanged a glance and laughed.
"Why run? Let him come." Fred said, seemingly unconcerned.
"Do you think we're afraid of Percy's big head?" George laughed, "Let me tell you, we're not afraid at all."
As they spoke, they took out candies and shared them with the others, showing no signs of anything unusual.
The commotion outside the door gradually subsided.
They heard Percy's voice again, "Too arrogant, Slytherin, even disregarding the Prefect of the Male Students. I'll definitely inform Professor Snape..."
Although his voice was faint, they could still hear it, indicating that he was nearby.

Fred suddenly slapped his thigh, "I almost forgot, Lee Jordan asked us to find him after we boarded the train."
"I remember too." George nodded, "He also said he had something important to discuss with us."
"Since we don't have anything else going on right now, let's go."
"Alright."
They stood up simultaneously and walked calmly towards the compartment door, peeking outside.
"Fred! George!" Percy's roar came from a distance.
The two of them flung the door open and darted out.
Due to their sudden movement, George bumped his head on the door frame, causing him to grimace in pain, but he still held his head and followed closely behind Fred.
Laughter erupted from the compartment.
Cedric walked over and sat down at their previous spot, shaking his head, "I thought they weren't afraid at all."
Ginny giggled, "A few weeks ago, they locked Percy in a pyramid. When he found out, he gave them a good beating.
If you observe carefully, you'll notice that George occasionally rubs his left buttock.
Because Percy thought he was the mastermind, he gave him an extra beating... but that's indeed what happened."
The laughter in the compartment grew louder.
Especially Cedric, who laughed the loudest. Seeing the Weasley brothers in trouble brought him more joy than finding money.
At one o'clock, a plump witch pushing a food trolley arrived at their compartment door.
Kyle hadn't eaten much in the morning, and by now, he was hungry. So, he bought a large stack of crucible cakes.
He bought the largest size, enough for the six of them to share.
Although the taste of these cakes was average, they were still much better than chocolate and candies.
After finishing the cakes, they chatted for a while, and by three or four o'clock, it started to rain, blurring the undulating mountains outside the window.
As the Head Prefect, Cedric was supposed to help maintain order in the carriage, but Percy was too diligent. Outside, they could always hear his voice, and most of the young wizards who dared to show their heads were immediately scolded back by him.
There was no point in Cedric going out.
Cedric also took the opportunity to slack off, playing Snap-Ended Playing Cards with Kyle in the comfortable compartment.
