Chapter 355: Assassin “You there—don't knock into my Crystal Chandelier. It was handcrafted by Master Hersky himself.”
Baron Oktor snapped, irritation flashing across his face.
“Yes, yes, Lord Baron!”
The guard stammered, trembling as he carefully cradled the candleholder, inching it forward with exaggerated slowness—afraid even the slightest bump might cause disaster.
Crash!
The Crystal Chandelier shattered on the floor, scattering shards like glass rain.
The guard stared at the Baron, mouth agape in terror, his entire body shaking.
“L-Lord Baron…”
“Damned scum! Can’t you even follow simple orders? That was Master Hersky’s masterpiece!”
Baron Oktor erupted in fury. His beard bristled, and with a thunderous stride, he seized the guard by the collar and hoisted him off the ground.
The guard trembled violently, then weakly pointed behind the Baron.
“M-Master… behind you…”
“What?”
Oktor’s rage flared, yet he instinctively turned—
Crack—
Another sharp sound—this time, the Glass Window exploded inward. Shards rained onto him, cutting into his skin.
From the broken window, three figures barged in—men in tailored Tailcoats, their faces pale as death, lips curled into eerie grins. A faint, sickly Bloodstained Scent clung to them.
“W-who are you? What do you want?”
Oktor’s voice cracked with panic. His grip on the guard loosened instantly. The fat man’s frame wobbled, trembling in fear.
“Robbery!”
Langli BaiTiao bellowed, his voice dripping with dark amusement.
“What? Are you mad? I’m Baron Oktor Sool!”
“And I’m here to kill Barons.”
Langli BaiTiao sneered, drawing his Dagger and advancing slowly.
“It’s enemies!”
“Guard! Help me!”
“Alyosha! Where are you? Come out now!”
Oktor collapsed onto the floor, scrambling backward on all fours, screaming in blind terror.
But then he turned—
And froze.
In mere moments, the dozen elite guards had fallen—silent, lifeless, sprawled in crimson pools.
At each corpse stood a Vampire. One even leisurely licked blood from his blade, savoring the kill.
The Vampires had already infiltrated the manor.
All his guards were dead.
At the entrance, a corpse in gleaming Plate Armor lay sprawled—his neck, arms, and head pierced by Poisoned Arrows. Captain of the Guard Alyosha, Oktor’s most powerful protector, had been ambushed and slain without a fight.
“Alyosha…”
“Impossible…”
Oktor’s lips parted in disbelief, his voice barely a whisper.
Then, reality crashed down. He scrambled onto his knees, shaking uncontrollably, pleading for mercy.
“I-I’m Baron Oktor! Don’t kill me! I’ll give you land, Noble Rank, gold—anything!”
Langli BaiTiao stared at him, tilting his head. His voice was cold, mocking.
“We kill you, the money’s ours. And besides—Kingdom reinforcements are already marching. What use is your land or title now?”
“I—I have more! I swear, I’ve got more! This isn’t even all of it—please, I—”
Fear had twisted his words into incoherence.
Then, Langli BaiTiao raised his Hand Crossbow. His fangs glinted in the dim light. A confident, cruel smile spread across his face.
“Sorry.”
“We Nocturne don’t leave witnesses.”
Swoosh—
The poisoned Arrow flew—but struck an invisible Luminous Membrane, deflected midair.
Oktor gasped, clutching his throat. Relief flooded him. He staggered to his feet, stumbling toward the exit.
Langli BaiTiao’s expression darkened.
“Damn it… I just wanted to deliver a cool line, and you ruin it?”
“Die, you bastard!”
He reloaded with practiced ease, then fired again—
Swoosh—
Another barrier flared into existence. The Arrow stopped dead.
Langli BaiTiao snarled, eyes blazing. He glared at the fleeing Baron, face twisted in fury.
“Dare to defy a top-tier Assassin?”
“To hell with this—everyone, attack! I won’t let this pig survive!”
“Got it, boss!”
From all sides, the Vampire Players surged forward.
In an instant, daggers, poisoned arrows, and gleaming venom-tipped needles rained down upon the Baron.
“No—don’t come near me!”
“Gah—!”
Oktor choked, foam bubbling at his lips. His massive body collapsed, limbs twitching. His veins turned violet—life drained away.
Langli BaiTiao approached the corpse, kicked it once with a sneer.
“Couldn’t even wait till I finished my dramatic exit?”
“Boss, look!”
A cry of excitement rang out—Darknight Wolf.
Langli BaiTiao turned. His eyes widened.
A wagon piled high with thousands of gold coins sat in the center of the room. Alongside it: priceless Oil Paintings, dazzling Jewelry, and exquisite Sculptures.
“Holy crap… this fat pig actually had money!”
Then—his Emblem flared to life. A voice echoed in his mind—cold, authoritative.
“Seventy percent of War Spoils must be turned in.”
Langli BaiTiao went silent.
---
The next morning, the citizens of Vichy City awoke to a city thick with the stench of blood.
Then—horror.
The City Wall’s soldiers were massacred. The Baron’s Manor was a slaughterhouse—bodies littered every room, blood pooling across the floors. Baron Oktor himself lay naked, his corpse grotesquely swollen, sprawled in the grand parlor.
A single note, neatly taped over his most private area, bore a grim joke:
“Duke Oliver has been assassinated. Perpetrators: ‘Nocturne.’”
The people trembled.
This wasn’t assassination.
It was butchery.
“Gods above…”
“Who could do such a thing?”
“This… this is hell itself!”
And the lone maid who’d escaped the manor? She wept with relief—she’d survived.
Yet, chaos did not reign.
The city remained eerily orderly.
Because another note—wobbly, handwritten—had been slapped onto Captain Alyosha’s face:
“Wait quietly for surrender. Anyone who resists… we kill them tonight.”
---
Outside Vichy City,
Charlotte and the members of 【Magic Coin】 waited in silence.
But the road remained empty. No treasure-laden convoy. No fat Baron.
Charlotte scowled, muttering:
“Damn it… that beast broke his promise. He said noon. Where is he now?”
Lonely Like Snow snorted beside her.
“Guild Leader… you really expect honesty from someone who’s been running double agents all along?”
Yes.
Once again, Magic Coin had returned to their roots—double agents.
The famed “Mysterious Mage of Teleportation,” the savior whispered about by every Northern Noble—was none other than Charlotte, disguised.
And she’d deliberately leaked the rumor.
To date, Magic Coin had swallowed two Barons, one Viscount, and all their wealth.
Charlotte raised one finger, shaking it like a wise elder.
“Wrong. This isn’t deception. It’s the rational use of in-game resources.”
“The real criminals? They broke their word. They deserve to die.”
“…”
Lonely Like Snow fell silent once more.
Charlotte sighed.
“Let’s go. This deal’s been stolen. But no matter—we’ve got plenty more coming.”
