Chapter 354: Our Fairy Tail Guild has always been a peace-loving guild.
Chapter 354: Our Fairy Tail Guild has always been a peace-loving guild.
The Council's camp was set up in the western outskirts of Magnolia, and there were at least thirty large tents as far as the eye could see.
After all, they had brought several hundred people this time, a number equivalent to the combined strength of two guilds, seemingly prepared to forcefully intervene in the conflict.
However, the main force's march was inevitably slower, and they didn't make it in time for the intervention.
The members of Fairy Tail and Phantom were 'escorted' to separate tents located at a considerable distance from each other.
The injured were also treated in different areas.
Juvia and Sol, the two captives, were taken to the medical team near the Phantom camp.
Before the interrogation began, Lahar was busy overseeing various preparations, indicating that the investigation might take several days.
Rod and Mira were assigned to the Fairy Tail - Wounded Area - Minor Injuries section.
Those with severe injuries were usually carried away directly to the doctors for surgery or emergency treatment, like Joseph, who received such treatment.
The interrogation on the Phantom side couldn't proceed from top to bottom and had to be reversed—it seemed that the higher the position, the more severe the injuries.
As for the minor injuries group, they could choose to wait for medical staff to assist them or take the medicine and bandages to treat themselves.
Rod and Mira, like many of their companions, didn't want to burden the medical staff and opted to treat themselves.
They were paired up and assigned a small partition as their treatment room.
Rod sat on a small stool with half of his buttocks, having already removed his upper garment.
Mira stood behind him, carefully cleaning the area around his wounds with alcohol wipes. She then fetched a towel and wiped the rest of his body before applying medication and bandaging the wounds.
She had applied medicine for Rod like this before, and she noticed that his physique had changed significantly since he first arrived, becoming more muscular and well-built.
As she moved to his front, Mira's fingers pressed against his chest and abs. Feeling a bit awkward, she tried to cover it up, "Does it hurt here? Are you in pain?"
"No, it doesn't hurt," Rod replied, though he really wanted to say that a little more rubbing would make it feel better. Unfortunately, the neighboring partition was occupied by their companions, separated only by a thin curtain.
After finishing with his upper body, Mira held a bottle of medicine and cotton balls, staring at Rod's half-exposed buttocks in a daze.
That area seemed to have been hit by a Magic Crystal explosion, and there were definitely injuries there... Mira's face started to heat up, and it only grew hotter.
Rod quietly watched her, saying nothing and remaining still, pretending not to know what she was hesitating about. He struggled to hold back his laughter, finding it challenging to contain himself.
But such subtle expressions couldn't escape the notice of the person who knew him best. Mira wrinkled her nose, signaling a strike, "Do the rest yourself!"
Disappointed, Rod stood up, "Alright, it's my turn to help you now."
"Mhm." Mira didn't hesitate and sat down, removing her shirt and torn top, leaving only a small piece of clothing.
Though she still felt a bit embarrassed, this was within her tolerance.
Rod imitated Mira's earlier actions, carefully cleaning her back and shoulders. He then applied medication to the wounds and bruises.
When it was time to wrap the bandages, her clothing got in the way, so Mira asked him to untie the straps, and she held the front with her hands.
After finishing with her shoulders, she put her top back on.
Rod was calm and composed, attending to every detail, taking charge, and doing it himself...
He couldn't do as he pleased.
Rod draped Mira's shirt back over her and asked, "What about the clothes? Should I keep wearing yours? But it seems like yours is about to fall apart."
Mira's luggage was at Lucy's house, and she hadn't asked Rod to bring it.
It's fine to keep wearing yours. Mira wanted to say this, but after a moment's thought, she said, "Let's go borrow one from Elusa later. Our figures are similar, and she'll definitely have some spare clothes."
"Hmm? I thought Elusa was a bit taller than you?"
"Yes, what's the matter?"
"Hmm... Nothing." Rod replied, "It's fine, it's good."
Mira thought for a moment and elbowed him.
Always focusing on strange things.
Rod rubbed his chest and moved the small stool to Mira's side, lifting her leg and placing it on his lap. He treated her wounds and tied the bandages in the same manner.
When Rod saw Erza emerge from a small compartment dressed in a nurse's outfit, he immediately sensed something was amiss. Out of concern for his comrades' safety, he asked, "Erza, who are you paired with?"
Erza brandished a syringe from somewhere and gestured, "I'm with Natsu and Gray. They're already treated. Do you need help?"
"No, we're good. We've taken care of it," Rod assured her, giving Mira a quick glance. "Mira needs to talk to you. You two chat for a bit."
Mira pulled Erza back into the compartment. Driven by his humanitarian spirit, Rod took a peek inside.
Sure enough, Natsu and Gray were leaning against each other, haphazardly bound together with a pile of bandages, their mouths tightly gagged, looking like they had been kidnapped.
The two struggled, whimpering, and their eyes lit up with relief when they saw Rod.
Rod couldn't help but chuckle as he went to untie them, "Why didn't you just break free? Or burn through the bandages?"
Gray complained, "Who knows what kind of bandages Erza used, they're too sturdy. That girl doesn't know medical techniques and insists on pretending to be a nurse."
"We can't burn them here," Natsu added. "It wouldn't be wise to start a fire on the Council's territory."
"Aye..." Happy was also there, squeezed between Natsu and Gray, almost like a cat sandwich.
"Why am I tied up too? I'm not even injured, aye, aye, aye!" Happy whimpered, tears of frustration rolling down his cheeks.
Rod sympathized, "I'll ask Erza to treat you to a fish when we get back. Worm, come keep Happy company."
But when Worm appeared, he realized he had left Worm with Poluxika. Worm was chewing on half an apple, looking at Rod with confusion.
Worm finished the apple and then turned away, squatting on the ground.
He was clearly upset.
Rod patted Worm's head, "The Council will feed us tonight. Eat your fill."
"Huru~"
The little guy... no, the medium-sized guy, was easily appeased with food.
...
The interrogations were conducted individually, and the first to be questioned was the Guild Master.
In front of Lahar was a statistical report detailing the participants and injuries on both sides.
"Unbelievable," Lahar said. "If I hadn't conducted investigations in Magnolia and Oak Town, I would almost believe Phantom was the victim."
Makarov burst into laughter, "Hahaha... Our guild members are just too capable, you know? Even without my involvement, they took down Joseph. Hahaha..."
A bead of sweat formed on Lahar's temple as he reminded Makarov, "Master Makarov, boasting about your guild's strength at a time like this doesn't reflect well on Fairy Tail."
Although Lahar disliked the Fairy Tail guild, he still remembered their favor.
"Is that so? My apologies, my apologies. I'll start again," Makarov said, unable to contain his pride in his members.
"Ahem, what was I saying?" Makarov paused for a moment, "Oh yes."
"As one of the Ten Great Mages, I have always made it my mission to maintain the stability and prosperity of the magical world.
As you all know, Fairy Tail has, since ancient times, been a guild that loves peace.
Our founding master contributed to the peace of the Fiore Kingdom and worked towards the 'Non-Violence Pact.'
This tradition has been passed down to our generation, and Fairy Tail's love for peace has never wavered..."
Lahar: "..."
Is that so? Is Fairy Tail a peace-loving guild?
Upon reflection, while Makarov's mentioned historical events were indeed true, Lahar couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss.
And the signs of a scripted speech were all too obvious.
