Chapter 354: Opportunity
Chapter 354: Opportunity
For the vast majority of wizards on the Calim continent, inheriting the bloodline of the Nine Noble Families is an unattainable dream.
Even if they have some connections, their understanding is limited.
However, they all know that every wizard from these ancient families can harness a portion of their family's power.
Julia's instructions were swiftly carried out, and several 'goods' were transported to Viper Academy through special channels.
"Squeak..."
The wooden door was pushed open, and Creigh, dressed in black, slowly walked into the room and bowed respectfully to a young man:
"I have already met with Miss Julia."
"Oh!"
The young man, who was reading a book, looked up and smiled lightly:
"What did my dear sister say?"
"Miss Julia instructed me to arrange for the person to stay at an inn. In the next two days, a wizard named Linen will come to receive him." Creigh spoke:
"Linen is cultivating the Great Flame Bloodline heritage."
"It seems he wants to quickly feed Linen to enter the Star Realm Necropolis." The young man nodded:
"That's not uncommon."
"Sir Theodore..." Creigh hesitated for a moment before asking:
"Are you planning to enter as well?"
"Of course!" Theodore nodded:
"Opportunities like this are rare. If I miss it, I might have to wait a hundred years for my turn."
Creigh's eyes showed confusion.
"You don't understand."
Theodore smiled and, having absolute trust in this servant who had been by his side for decades, explained:
"Families like ours have ways to glimpse into the future, or we wouldn't have survived until now."
"While it's difficult to control all future events, we can always find some opportunities."
"What do you mean, young master?" Creigh pondered:
"It seems that Viper Academy's Star Realm Outpost holds some kind of opportunity, and if we can seize it, it will benefit our future."
"That's right." Theodore nodded:
"Due to certain special reasons, the vast and boundless Calim continent is filled with countless treasures waiting to be discovered."
"For the core heir of each family, when they reach the peak of the Second Circle, the family will point out an opportunity for them to attempt to acquire. And the opportunity for Julia lies within Viper Academy's Star Realm Outpost."
"Isn't this too troublesome?" Creigh was puzzled:
"With the Roll Family's strength, taking over Viper Academy should be easy. Why take such a risk?"
"Miss Julia is not weak, and she might even be stronger than Aksha of Viper Academy, but there's still no absolute guarantee."
Aksha has been running Viper Academy for hundreds of years, and even a typical Third Circle wizard would face certain death there.
As for Julia,
She's only at the peak of the Second Circle!
Although this Second Circle wizard is powerful, she's still at the Second Circle.
"Hmph..." Theodore rolled his eyes:
"Even the Four Great Forces and the Nine Noble Families can't act recklessly. One day, they will face their downfall."
"You don't think that only nine surnames existed in ancient times, do you?"
"There were once wizard families who believed they held the reins of fate, acting without restraint and seizing every opportunity. The result..."
"Is that they are no more!"
Fate!
Even the gods associated with fate revered it, always keeping it at a distance.
"On the other hand, when the family calculates an opportunity for you, it's also a test."
Theodore continued:
"If you fail the test, the resources you receive from the family in the future will be reduced, although they'll still be more than what outsiders get."
"Sir..." Creigh ventured to ask:
"Since it's the family's arrangement, Miss Julia shouldn't be in any danger, should she?"
"That's not necessarily true." Theodore shook his head:
"There have been family wizards who lost their lives while pursuing opportunities, and there are quite a few of them."
"A few years ago, the Green Family ventured into the Magic Forest in search of their destined opportunity, but none of them returned."
"Is that so?" Creigh's expression turned to one of surprise.
"The Green Family is known for their cautious nature."
"Indeed." Theodore shrugged.
"But what of it?"
"It's said that the person who killed the Green Family members fled to the Eastern Kingdom Continent, blessed by the Radiance of the Gods. Even the Green Family couldn't do anything about it."
A mischievous smile played on his lips as he spoke.
Speaking of the Green Family, he had met those unfortunate victims at a gathering, full of ambition and vigor, only to end up as mere bones now.
"Alright."
After this casual conversation, Theodore straightened his tone, "I must enter the Viper Academy's outpost in the Star Realm. That Wizard, Linen..."
"Try to make a change!"
"Yes." Creigh nodded in agreement.
'The goods' have arrived, please check.
Reading the message on the magic scroll, Linen shook his head slightly and took a step forward.
6◇9◇Book◇Bar
The 'goods' Julia mentioned were actually people, individuals who had cultivated the Great Flame Bloodline to the Wizard realm.
It must be said, the Roll Family, with its ancient heritage of wizards, dared to treat wizards as mere commodities for trade.
"Number 13 on Falling Leaf Street."
Following the street ahead, he stopped at a low gate, muttering, "This should be the place."
The gate wasn't closed, and with a gentle push, it swung open. As he stepped into the courtyard, he could sense the presence of an invisible barrier.
From the outside, the courtyard didn't seem large.
But upon entering, he realized it was quite spacious. The empty courtyard held three individuals, each occupying a corner.
Three full-fledged Wizards!
Hmm? Linen furrowed his brows slightly:
"Where's Mandy? Weren't we supposed to have three immobile goods?"
"Mandy?" The person in the left corner waved casually, and not far away, a door opened, revealing a bloody figure falling to the ground:
"Is she the one you mean?"
"..." Linen pursed his lips, "It seems something unexpected happened."
"Lin... Linen." Covered in blood, Mandy struggled to lift her head, her voice sharp, "Run!"
Linen turned around.
But to his surprise, the door had closed at some point, and the courtyard was now completely enclosed by the barrier.
With this setup, even if a huge commotion occurred, it wouldn't spread outside unless the barrier was broken.
"Hmph..."
Turning around with a hint of helplessness, Linen faced the three figures approaching slowly and spread his hands, "I'm someone the Roll Family wants. If you kill me, won't you fear their retaliation?"
"Afraid!" One of them spoke up, "Of course we're afraid!"
"But compared to the Roll Family's revenge, we fear death more!"
"That's right." Another nodded, "We've worked so hard for so many years, and now it's all going to benefit you. How could we possibly accept that?"
"Then how about this?" Linen tentatively suggested, "I won't harm you, and you won't harm me. Let's pretend nothing happened today, alright?"
"Hmph..." One of them chuckled, "Do you think that's possible?"
"The Roll Family needs a Tier 2 Wizard. If we kill you, we'll become Tier 2 Wizards too, and we'll still keep our lives."
"Hmm..." Linen narrowed his eyes, "Killing me won't be enough. Out of the four of us, only one can survive."
"That's right!"
The opponents acknowledged this:
"After killing you, we'll decide our fates!"
"This is the destined fate of those who cultivate the Great Flame Bloodline. We can't escape it, and neither can you!"
