Chapter 353: Recruiting Werewolves
Chapter 353: Recruiting Werewolves
In the face of Aisha's questioning, Brock was at a loss for words. He had never imagined that his identity as an alchemy master would one day become a hindrance!
Seeing Aisha raise her Wand, Brock couldn't help but give a bitter smile.
He suddenly thought that perhaps he shouldn't have been so clever. If he hadn't known about Ivan's plans against the Ministry of Magic, he might have had a chance to survive.
However, after hesitating for a moment, Aisha put her Wand down and instead took out the Veritaserum, forcing Brock to drink it.
Before killing Brock, Aisha wanted to make sure there were no hidden secrets in his words.
If possible, she also planned to make Brock reveal all the core knowledge of alchemy.
At the same time, in an open wasteland on the side of Knockturn Alley.
Ivan, who was teaching Hermione and Walker, was unaware of the inhumane treatment Brock was enduring. He was still diligently pointing out the mistakes the two made during their practice.
"Walker, stop looking around and focus!"
"And Hermione! Your emotions are not intense enough. Remember, the effect of this spell is an explosion! Try to imagine the feeling of destroying everything! Slowly lower your Wand, then flick it up, and cast the spell now!"
"Thunderclap Explosion!" Hermione loudly cast the spell. A thin flame emerged from the tip of her Wand, gradually expanding into a fist-sized orange fireball, which then crashed into the ruins ahead.
Boom!
With a loud explosion, dust and smoke rose, and a large rock in the ruins was blasted with a hole the size of a human head.
"Very good! It looks like you've mastered it!" Ivan turned to look at Hermione and smiled.
Hermione was overjoyed but modestly said she still had a long way to go and needed more practice.
She clearly remembered how Ivan's Thunderclap Explosion could easily destroy a wall, making her own magic seem very weak in comparison.
Ivan shook his head with a smile. It was undoubtedly self-inflicted for Hermione to compare herself to him.
However, Ivan had no intention of comforting Hermione. Setting high goals was beneficial. At least the young witch was much stronger than her counterpart in the original timeline.
If the Wizarding World became chaotic in the future, Hermione would be able to protect herself.
"Miss Granger, you learned it so quickly?" Walker, attracted by the explosion, looked at the hole in the rock and exclaimed.
He had just started to get a feel for it, and it would take him a long time to master Thunderclap Explosion.
"Yep, now it's your turn!" Ivan, knowing Walker's character, deliberately goaded him.
"Watch me, I'm almost there, give me twenty minutes at most!" Walker gritted his teeth, feeling envious of Hermione while working even harder.
Ivan stood to the side, correcting Walker's mistakes while Hermione continued to practice.
Thanks to Walker's determined efforts, he finally mastered the difficult spell before it got completely dark. The pile of rubble in the ruins was once again devastated.
Since Walker was five or six years older than Hermione and had more magic power, his Thunderclap Explosion was quite powerful, instantly shattering a large rock into pieces!
Seeing the destruction he caused, Walker's confidence, which had been shaken, was restored. He then let loose, casting one Thunderclap Explosion after another into the rubble, sending fragments flying in all directions, and thoroughly enjoying himself.
"Alright, stop fooling around! It's getting late, let's head back!" Ivan glanced at the dimming sky and called out.
Walker reluctantly stopped and Ivan then called out to Hermione. The three of them walked along the path back to the Temporary Residence.
On the way, Ivan remembered that during dinner, he had noticed Fleur looking rather gloomy. He asked, "Walker, have you guys run into any trouble recently? Fleur doesn't seem to be in a good mood these days."
Walker's happy expression immediately fell, and he began to vent his frustrations to Ivan.
Due to the recent discovery by the Ministry of Magic of several Werewolf Wizard bodies at Borgin and Burkes Magic Shop, life for them in Knockturn Alley had become even more difficult. Many shopkeepers were unwilling to provide them with work, viewing Werewolf Wizards as a group of violent criminals. They even suspected that Fleur and others had been involved in the attack on the Magic Shop, and no amount of explanation could change their minds.
If it weren't for the meals they could get at the Temporary Residence, they might have gone hungry.
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" Ivan hadn't realized that his raid on Borgin and Burkes Magic Shop had caused such a significant problem for Fleur and the others.
"Fleur said he would try for a couple more days, and if he couldn't convince the shopkeepers, then he would come to you for help", Walker scratched his head, looking a bit embarrassed.
"What's the problem with that? You guys risked your lives to help me catch Borgin. I haven't even had the chance to thank you yet", Ivan smiled and continued, "When you go back, you can tell Fleur that I'm offering him a job. The pay will be the same as the standard wages for employees in Diagon Alley!"
"Really? That would be amazing!" Walker was very excited. Fleur had been worried about finding work for days. Even when they did find jobs, the pay was often so low that it barely covered their monthly expenses.
In comparison, Ivan's offer was incredibly generous! He was willing to pay them the same as regular Wizards, and even at the Diagon Alley standard. To Walker, it felt like a dream come true!
However, Walker was also a bit concerned. He didn't see why Ivan would need so many people.
Taking such high pay without doing anything felt strange to Walker. With this in mind, he tentatively asked, "Hals, what kind of work do you have in mind for us?"
Ivan pondered for a moment, recalling some interesting alchemical knowledge he had learned from Borgin. He then said, "I plan to open a branch in Diagon Alley next year. I'll definitely need people to manage it, and you'll also be responsible for additional security!"
"Before that, there's one more task for you. I heard from Borgin that he had arranged some spies to gather information. Your job is to find all of them!"
