Chapter 353: How Could Lanchi Be a Living Yama?
Chapter 353: How Could Lanchi Be a Living Yama?
In the aftermath of the storm, a serene calm settled over the governor's office. The occasional crazed shouts of Agnello, as if venting his endless rage, disrupted the tranquility. His hair hung messily over his forehead, and even with several guards holding him down, he struggled relentlessly.
The burning scarlet in Agnello's eyes threatened to spill over, consuming his sanity. He seemed to have forgotten his situation, his forehead veins bulging as he continued to thrash about, restrained though he was. The intensity of his desire to tear Lanchi to pieces drove him to desperate struggles, heedless of the consequences.
"Lochie!!!
Agnello's teeth ground together as he shook with rage, his voice echoing through the office. "You despicable worm! I will kill you!"
Ignoring Agnello's outburst, Lanchi gently placed the kitten he had been holding in his arms onto the sofa. He strolled to the windowsill of his office, drew open the curtains, and bathed the room in pure, golden natural light. The conflicts and entanglements of the past seemed purified by this sunshine, leaving only a refreshing calm.
Sid stretched lazily and picked up Boss, the little black cat who had just made himself comfortable on the sofa, into her arms.
In the brief silence that filled the office, the soft breathing of those present and the chirping of birds outside could be heard.
Lanchi gazed out the window, paying no heed to Agnello's rants, as if giving him time to calm down.
"Lochie—! You're also doomed... All of you despicable men and women deserve to die! Every single one of you!"
This blatant disregard only served to drive Agnello further into madness.
As Agnello screamed himself hoarse, Lanchi finally sighed, his hands resting on the windowsill.
"Earlier, when you cried and begged me to spare you, I truly felt a twinge of compassion. After all, I once had a student whom I failed to save."
Lanchi turned his head to look at Agnello on the floor, his eyes reflecting the wisdom and insight gained over the years, filled with hope and care for his students. He resembled a seasoned school principal facing a student who had made an irreversible mistake.
He approached Agnello, unperturbed by his attitude, his expression holding only a hint of regret.
The room was filled with sunlight, yet Agnello remained in the shadows.
Despite this, Agnello glared at Lanchi with contempt, a sinister smile tugging at his lips. "No one can judge me, Lochie! No one! Do as you please—kill or maim me. But you will all be slain by Lord Askesan!"
He was well aware of the terrifying seal placed on Sigrid.
Unless they could find a ninth-rank grand magician proficient in seal magic to release it, she would never regain her eighth-rank combat power in this lifetime! And a Cardinal and tablet bearer stripped of their strength would become the prey of the entire Northern Continent!
Nor would anyone offer them sanctuary!
Soon, the Bishop of Oblivion would return and slaughter everyone associated with the Domination Branch.
Just thinking about the fate of those currently reveling in their temporary triumph filled Agnello with nothing but insane laughter.
"Hahaha, hahahaha!"
Agnello was like a volcano on the brink of eruption. Despite facing certain doom, he held his head high in disdain. Every shout, every glance, every expression mocked the ignorance of those present and scorned everything before him.
"Courageous."
Lanchi observed Agnello.
No matter how Agnello provoked him, he remained unmoved. A principal is a principal, and he would not stoop to physically attacking a student.
Throughout his teaching career, Lanchi had encountered many wayward students who had gone astray, but this was the first time he had met a student like Agnello.
"However, it doesn't matter. Our school has a well-established educational system."
He moved his right hand and gently picked up the communication terminal receiver from the desk, bringing it to his ear. With compassion in his emerald green eyes, he said,
"Please help me get in touch with Count Shaya Candys. Ask him to come to my governor's office."
Lanchi replaced the receiver.
After a few minutes, the wooden door of the governor's office slowly opened.
A noble youth with flaxen hair entered. He wore a Northern noble hunting dress embroidered with the crest of the Qinstton family, and the metal on his cuffs and collar glittered in the light, setting off his skin like snow. Compared to when Lanchi and Sid first met him, his gaze had become calm and composed.
"Teacher, what do you need me to do?"
Shaya took a few steps forward and stopped in front of Lanchi. He bowed slightly, performing a deep and respectful knight's salute, his voice filled with admiration and joy.
Lanchi nodded, expressing his appreciation for Shaya's demeanor.
Placing his hand on Shaya's shoulder, he glanced at Agnello before turning back to Shaya, his voice steady. "Shaya, take him to the underground prison in Qinstton City and see if his will is truly as strong as he claims."
"Hahahaha! Do you think changing the location will make me afraid?"
Agnello found Lanchi's "terrifying" proposal hilarious, and his sinister and terrifying laughter shook the entire office, echoing off the walls.
"You bunch of bootlickers, do you know who I am? I'm Agnello! What torture haven't I seen? What torture haven't I used?! "
With his body restrained, his spirit became extremely violent, and he found their attempt at intimidation ridiculous and laughable!
What was a prison to him?!
He stood above the law!
"Or should I be the one to execute him?"
Sid, sitting on the sofa, frowned and clenched her palms, growing impatient with the Son of Obliteration.
"Trust me, leave it to me."
Lanchi merely turned his head and looked at Sid, his eyes gentle.
"..."
Sid, holding Boss, remained silent.
Indeed, she had never seen Lanchi interrogate anyone before.
However, taming Agnello, a thorough scoundrel and madman, was probably not a task that an ordinary interrogator could accomplish.
His previous pleas for mercy were all an act to gain Loren's sympathy. The Son of Obliteration was chosen by Askesan through cruel eliminations and survived the bloody path; only the most ruthless, heartless, and inhuman individuals could assume such a role.
"You must satisfy me, or I won't be able to sleep well tonight."
Sid agreed to let Lanchi take full responsibility.
After Lanchi and Sid finished their conversation, Shaya nodded slightly and gestured for the guards to take Agnello away.
Two elite guards grabbed Agnello's arms, while another heavy warrior stuffed a towel into Agnello's mouth and quickly and skillfully covered his head with a cloth bag, plunging him into darkness. They then carried him away.
Agnello's body shook violently as he was unable to make a sound, and he struggled to break free from the elites' control, but all his efforts were in vain; he couldn't budge their iron-like grip.
And so, the door to the governor's office was slowly closed.
