Chapter 352: Respecting Every Wizard's Aesthetic Preferences
Chapter 352: Respecting Every Wizard's Aesthetic Preferences
After leaving Flourish and Blotts, Kyle purchased a few other items before meeting up with Harry and the others at the Magical Creature Shop.
Hermione had initially expressed her desire to buy an owl, but in the end, she settled for a chubby ginger cat named Crookshanks.
To be honest, this cat was incredibly ugly. Its face looked as if it had been stepped on while sleeping, flattened and distorted.
Adding to its peculiar appearance, its fur was long, making it almost impossible to discern any facial features from the side. It was practically flat.
Perhaps it was a matter of differing aesthetics among wizards. To others, it might have resembled a hairy cardboard box, but Hermione adored it and found it more beautiful than any other cat.
Well, to each their own...
Adhering to the principle of respecting diverse aesthetics, Kyle refrained from voicing any objections and merely nodded in agreement.
Harry, standing beside them, shared the same sentiment.
As for Ron, he was in no mood for this.
The shop assistant had no effective solution for his rat, and upon learning that Ron wasn't planning to replace his pet, they half-heartedly recommended a rat-strengthening potion.
"Do you think this will help?" Ron asked, cradling his rat in one hand and holding the potion in the other as they made their way back. "It feels far inferior to the recovery potion Kyle gave me."
"Forget about your feelings," Kyle said. "This stuff is basically sugar water with some red amaranth juice. I could whip up a huge batch in no time. By the way, how much did you pay for it?"
"It was expensive..." Ron grimaced. "Two Sickles!"
"Your money is easy to make." Kyle shrugged. "Even if this stuff sells for two Knuts, there's still profit to be made."
Ron's expression grew even more glum.
Unfortunately, he had already given Scabbers a sip of the potion in the shop, so returning it was out of the question.
Looking at the listless Scabbers, Ron asked, "Can I buy recovery potions from you in the future?"
"Of course, anytime, and you won't need money," Kyle assured him.
Kyle noticed that when Ron held Scabbers in his hands, the cat named Crookshanks merely glanced at the rat lazily before turning its squashed face away, continuing to swish its tail and showing complete disinterest.
When the group returned to The Leaky Cauldron, they found Mr. Weasley sitting at the bar, reading The Daily Prophet.
"Harry, Kyle!" He looked up and smiled. "You're all here. How have you been these days?"
"Very well, thank you," Harry replied.
"Fantastic," Kyle added, sitting beside him.
"I heard from Charlie that you've been a great help," Mr. Weasley said, examining Kyle up and down. "It's fortunate you didn't get hurt. Molly has been complaining that they shouldn't have involved a child in such a dangerous situation."
"It wasn't as dangerous as you might think," Kyle laughed. "Besides, Mr. Scamander and my dad were there. When the dragons approached, I just had to stand behind them."
"That's true."
"Wait, danger? Dragons?" Ron furrowed his brows. "What are you talking about? Did Kyle encounter dragons in Romania?"
Hermione and Harry were equally curious.
"More than one, actually..." Mr. Weasley shared what he knew.
After all, the situation in Romania had concluded, and there was no need for further secrecy.
The group listened in awe as he recounted the experiences involving dozens of dragons, magical creature experts from various countries, and the final confrontation with poachers.
"Wow, over a dozen magical creature experts..." Hermione exclaimed. "If only I had gone to Romania too."
"It's not possible," Mr. Weasley said, putting down The Daily Prophet and shaking his head. "At that time, the reserve prohibited tourist entry. Even if you went, it wouldn't have been of much use. You could only visit the nearby gathering area."
"Speaking of the gathering area, I brought gifts for you." Kyle opened his leather bag and took out the items he had prepared in advance.
For Mr. Weasley, he had a dragonwood cane.
Last year, at Flourish and Blotts, Mr. Weasley had almost suffered due to the lack of close-combat weapons, so Kyle had chosen this specifically.
The wood was sturdy and heavy, perfect for striking an opponent's head during a fight, causing damage comparable to a Stunning Spell.
"This is fantastic!"
Mr. Weasley held the cane, occasionally swinging it, clearly delighted.
To Harry, Ron, and Hermione, they were Firebreather Emblems.
The material was dragon scales, carved with the image of a fire-breathing dragon, and it even moved, making it one of the most representative souvenirs.
The three thanked them and immediately pinned them on their robes.
At this moment, Harry suddenly noticed Sirius Black's photo in the newspaper, staring at him.
"Hasn't he been caught yet?"
"No." Mr. Weasley put down his wand, his expression turning serious, "The Ministry has reassigned us all from our regular positions to focus on capturing him, but so far, there's been no progress."
Just then, Mrs. Weasley walked in with her arms full of packages, followed by Fred and George, Percy who had just become the male student council president, and Ginny, the youngest of the Weasley family.
"Hey, Kyle!"
"Long time no see!"
As soon as Fred and George entered, they rushed to Kyle, shaking his hand non-stop, "Old buddy, it's wonderful to see you."
"Words can't describe it."
Percy frowned.

"That's enough from both of you." Mrs. Weasley said, "Stop imitating Percy."
She happily hugged Kyle.
"Dear, it's great to see you."
"I feel the same, Mrs. Weasley." Kyle said.
"So, where are our gifts!" At this moment, two hands reached out simultaneously.
"What gifts?" Kyle raised his eyebrows.
"Don't pretend." Fred revealed a confident expression, "I noticed it from the moment I entered, your dad's wand."
"And Ron's emblem." George said, "They didn't have these things on them earlier."
Kyle smiled and took out the gifts he had prepared for them, as well as for Mrs. Weasley, Percy, and Ginny.
When he gave the gift to Percy, he acted a bit too seriously, even shaking Kyle's hand ceremoniously, "Thank you so much, I'm deeply honored."
His tone and demeanor were almost identical to the Romanian Ministry of Magic official who had given them the Portkey.
Fred and George mimicked his actions, making various comical expressions.
Mrs. Weasley scolded them for their behavior.
...
That evening, the Weasley family did not return to their burrow but decided to stay at the Leaky Cauldron.
Mr. Weasley had initially wanted Kyle to stay there as well, but Kyle declined after some thought.
"I met Chris before coming here." Mr. Weasley said, "He also agreed to you staying here."
"But I haven't packed my things yet." Kyle said, "Many of the things I need, including books and homework, I didn't bring."
Of course, Kyle hadn't forgotten his homework; since two years ago, his luggage had been packed in a box.
He just didn't want to be monitored.
From the moment Kyle entered, he noticed someone in the corner who kept looking at them from time to time.
There was someone at the bar who had been reading the newspaper for half an hour without turning the page.
And the old witch drinking honey wine, just a few minutes ago, the same honey wine was being drunk by a middle-aged witch, but the one sitting there was a middle-aged witch.
If his guess was correct, these people were all Aurors sent to protect Harry.
Including Mr. Weasley, who had a different task... in a more reasonable way, to take Harry to King's Cross Station tomorrow.
Kyle didn't want to be watched by so many Aurors; that feeling was just awkward to think about.
Since he had mentioned books and homework, these people should be all Aurors sent to protect Harry.
