Chapter 352: Heritage
Chapter 352: Heritage
The Demon Hunter Corps and the Abyssal Cottage launched a fierce assault, forcing Viper Academy to constantly retreat, intensifying the battle at the frontlines.
However, as anticipated, the tide turned as dozens of Wizard Towers soared into the sky, halting the advancing forces.
The battle reached a stalemate.
But all of this had little relevance to the reserve personnel.
Especially Lynn, a special talent under the Academy's care, had never set foot on the frontlines.
His responsibility was to craft Potions.
Not only could he earn Credits from the Academy to exchange for various supplies, but he also earned extra income by privately selling Potions.
Half a year passed.
Lynn sat across from the alchemy furnace, his hands gently lifting to manipulate the flames, refining the Magic Potions within.
With his meticulous control, different Potions gradually merged, and a faint, enchanting fragrance wafted through the air.
Time passed slowly.
The aroma in the room gradually faded until it was no longer discernible, and his expression grew increasingly grave.
"Susan!"
"Oh!"
A three-meter-tall statue-like being stepped forward, its body writhing, and from its waist, multiple arms emerged.
Together with the original two, there were now over a dozen arms, each unique.
Some were robust and powerful, others delicate and fair, and some withered like dry wood.
"Here it comes!"
With a low shout, the furnace trembled, its lid forced open by an invisible mighty force, and streams of liquid shot out.
Upon contact with the ground, the Potions instantly vaporized, their effects lost, rendering the Magic Potions wasted.
"Swish!"
Susan stepped forward, her numerous arms waving in the air, leaving afterimages as she deftly gathered the Potions and systematically poured them into bottles nearby, filling them one after another.
"Twenty-seven bottles."
Once finished, Lynn counted the bottles, nodding in satisfaction:
"Two more than last time. Keep seven for Isaiah to sell on the black market, and hand over the rest."
"Yes."
Susan nodded, her eyes glinting, and she muttered:
"Isaiah has advanced to an Advanced Wizard Apprentice."
"Really?" Lynn's hands paused momentarily, and he nodded:
"She's progressing quickly!"
"But it's normal. Her Wizard talents are impressive, and with a constant supply of high-grade Potions, it's time for her advancement."
Noticing Susan's melancholy, Lynn chuckled:
"Don't envy her."
"You might not even need to become a Wizard. By the time Isaiah becomes one, you might already be a Hundred-Face Demon."
The Hundred-Face Demon was the advanced state of the Hundred-Face Demon, and even at its weakest, it was a Late First Circle. No matter which faction it belonged to, it was considered a formidable entity.
"A Hundred-Face Demon?" Susan touched her cheek, gazing at her own deformed and twisted body, her eyes filled with loneliness:
"I'd rather be the Apprentice Wizard I once was than have this body."
"Don't overthink it." Lynn spoke:
"Depression gives your spirit body an opportunity. You need to become stronger."
"Sigh!"
Susan sighed, nodding silently, and stepped forward to collect the Potions, then turned and walked towards the door.
Even after more than half a year, she still struggled to accept her situation.
To survive,
She had to become the Hundred-Face Demon.
And she would never regain her human form; her consciousness was permanently bound to this monstrous body.
Lynn shook his head, preparing to craft the next batch of Potions, when a Magic Scroll on the table suddenly flew towards him.
A line of text was written on it.
"Finally!"
Lynn smiled:
"Holy Source Drops, but my current Credits can't afford Second Rank Flame yet."
...
Vire Town.
In just half a year, this town had evolved into a war fortress, supported by Viper Academy's constant funding, holding back the Demon Hunter Corps' mercenaries and the Abyssal Creatures.
The bustling streets were filled with hurried pedestrians.
With the high demand for potions, enchanted items, and various rune materials, the shops were bustling with customers.
"Sister Mandy," Linen called out as he entered the store, addressing a busy woman.
"Do you have a moment?"
Mandy paused her work and turned to him, "Of course, you're here now." She handed her task to another person and approached Linen.
"Follow me."
The two made their way to the backyard.
As soon as Linen stepped onto the courtyard's blue stone pavement, he hesitated for a moment before catching up.
In front of a guest room in the backyard stood a man and a woman. The man was strikingly handsome, and the woman was stunningly beautiful. More importantly, their psychic power emanations were incredibly strong.
First Circle Wizards!
The vibrant psychic energy they exuded was a stark contrast to the wizards of Viper Academy, stirring something within Linen.
"Greetings," Linen addressed the couple.
As they approached, Mandy respectfully spoke up, "I'd like to see Senior Julia, if I may."
The couple glanced at each other, and their invisible psychic power emanations swept through the area like radar, scanning at various frequencies in an instant. Satisfied, the woman nodded.
"Please, go right in."
The door opened, and Mandy bowed as she entered, approaching a woman lounging in a soft chair and savoring some snacks. She bowed slightly, "Respected Heir of the Roll Family, Senior Julia, the person you wished to meet has arrived."
The Roll Family?
Linen, who had been following behind, felt a surge of curiosity.
On the Calim Continent, aside from the Four Great Forces, there were also the Nine Noble Families, each with a heritage dating back to ancient times.
The Green Family was one of them.
The Roll Family was another.
Even before the formation of the Four Great Forces, these Nine Families had already been active on this continent.
Their ancestors might still be alive, after all, for Sixth Circle Wizards, time had lost its meaning.
"Please, take a seat," Julia waved dismissively. With a gentle sweep of her hand, a transparent crystal bottle appeared on the table.
The pure power of the Holy Source emanated from it, revealing its identity.
Holy Source Water Droplets!
"I never expected to find a wizard cultivating the Great Flame Bloodline heritage here," Julia turned to Linen and took a sip from her drink, "This heritage has a significant flaw; even with the highest talent, one can only reach the initial stages of the Third Circle, and their combat power is among the weakest at that level."
"Miss Julia," Linen was unsure of her intentions, but he politely inquired, "For me, becoming a Third Circle Wizard would be a great achievement."
"Heh..." Julia chuckled lightly, "Let me finish."
"The Great Flame Bloodline's limit is the initial stage of the Third Circle, and one can only cultivate up to the Second Plane. Unless, of course, you are that one-in-a-million exception."
"Of course, for you, the Second and Third Circles might not make much difference, but it's a bit of a pity."
"Yes!" Mandy's eyes lit up, and she quickly added, "Linen is already a mid-stage First Circle Wizard at such a young age. He's bound to become a Second Circle Wizard, and with a proper heritage, he might even attain the Third Circle."
Linen raised his head, his eyes glinting with curiosity, "Miss Julia, do you possess the complete heritage of the Great Flame Bloodline?"
This was something Linen had always wanted to acquire.
"Yes," Julia shrugged, "The Calim Continent is home to many expedited wizardry heritages, which the various forces use to train their fighters. The Great Flame Bloodline is one of them."
"However..."
"Cultivating these expedited heritages can only take one so far, perhaps to become an advanced fighter."
Expedited?
The Great Flame Bloodline was known for its slow progress. But Linen quickly realized that with constant devouring and cultivation, like nurturing a venomous creature, progress could be swift and significant.
Just like himself.
"I not only possess the complete heritage of the Great Flame Bloodline, but I can also provide you with a technique to transition to the Second Circle and beyond."
Julia leaned forward, her voice low, "But to obtain it, you must pay a certain price."
