Chapter 351: The Ultimate Showdown
Chapter 351: The Ultimate Showdown
"Tsk, here it comes, the Ultimate Dragon."
Luca narrowed his eyes.
"I admit, I fell for your trick, but I told you not to underestimate the power of my Insect-type monsters, even the Ultimate Dragon is not exempt! Once again, I flip summon 'Yagan Insect' and activate its effect!"
Yagan Insect
ATK: 1000
"When Yagan Insect is flipped face-up, you can select 1 face-up monster your opponent controls and return it to the owner's hand. Return True Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!"
A bizarre light enveloped the True Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, and before it could even steady itself, the dragon's body began to turn transparent, seemingly about to be banished.
"Hahaha, what a pity." Luca laughed, "You may have outplayed me earlier, Kaiba, but the strength of my insects is more than enough to make up for it. It seems the Ultimate Dragon you summoned will be leaving the field so soon."
"Hmph, do you really think so?" Kaiba countered.
"What?"
"I activate a Trap Card from my hand—
—'Unflinching! Unrivaled! Unbeatable'!"
"What!?!"
Luca was taken aback once more.
A Trap Card activation from the hand?
"The other card you destroyed was the Trap Card 'Cross-Counter Trap,'" Kaiba explained with a smirk as he crossed his arms, "During the turn that card is destroyed, I can activate 1 Trap Card from my hand."
"Hmph, so both face-down cards were decoys," Luca muttered.
"This card will unleash the true power of the Ultimate Dragon!" Kaiba proclaimed, "Unflinching! Unrivaled! Unbeatable! This card prevents any of my 'Blue-Eyes' monsters from being affected by the effects of cards your opponent controls, and they cannot be destroyed by battle this turn!"
Luca's pupils contracted.
Immune to card effects and battle destruction? No, even before this, the Ultimate Dragon already possessed 4500 ATK, an almost unprecedented base stat in Duel Monsters.
With this card's empowerment, the True Ultimate Dragon was virtually invincible this turn!
"Tsk, does Kaiba Sea have to make a card out of every word he says?"
Luca muttered under his breath.
"Now, I activate the effect of 'Insect King'. By tributing 1 Reptile-type monster with 'Insect' in its name from my field, I can destroy any card on the opponent's field!
I tribute 'Apocalypse Insect'!"
Apocalypse Insect disintegrated into specks of light, and with a roar from the Insect King, it was transformed into a beam of energy that blasted towards the Ultimate Dragon!
"This insect has such a powerful effect too?" Keihei spoke in a low voice, "But it's useless, the Ultimate Dragon is unaffected by card effects now."
Indeed, the insect's suicidal attack was futile, exploding upon the Ultimate Dragon without leaving even a scratch.
"Hmph, it doesn't matter, that wasn't my goal anyway."
Kaiba said indifferently, "It's to free up my monster zone, right?"
"Ah, I see now."
Keihei finally realized.
"All five of his monster zones are already filled, could it be that he wants to summon a new monster to resolve this situation?"
"Exactly!" Luca exclaimed, "I activate the Equip Spell Card 'Future Fusion' from my hand!!!"
The Future Fusion card that appeared was the same one used by Kaizer in the anime, capable of instantly fusing monsters from the hand.
"Send any number of Fusion Material Monsters listed on a Fusion Monster Card from your hand or your side of the field to the Graveyard, and Special Summon that Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck in face-up Attack Position!"
He drew from his deck and searched for a large handful of cards, then chuckled softly.
"As expected of Kaiba Seto, it's been a long time since someone forced me to use this guy. But his arrival also signifies that the climax of this duel is near."
"What?" Kaiba frowned.
"You know, there are a total of 26 insects, each named after the 26 letters of the English alphabet. And the insect that represents the last letter, Z, the end of all things, and also the zero point, is the Ultimate Insect that I will summon."
Luca said calmly.
"Aside from it, there are 25 other insects in my Main Deck. But since I've already summoned Insect King and Insect Queen, and there are no second copies of those two in my deck, I have 23 other insects left.
Luca raised his voice and shouted, "I send all 23 Insect-type monsters from my deck to the graveyard for an ultimate fusion!!!"
Keihei was stunned. "A fusion using 23 monsters?! Is that even possible?!?"
"Indeed," Luca replied. "What you are about to witness is the pinnacle of life evolution and the zero point of all things! Behold, the ultimate insect—Insect Zero!!!"
At that moment, the howling wind in the city reached a crescendo, like the roar of the heavens, shaking every skyscraper and neighborhood.
The neon lights of the city flickered wildly in the gale, like flickering candles about to go out. The sky twisted like cracks in an oil painting, and the clouds were mercilessly torn apart, revealing vast expanses of deep, dark void.
Within those churning dark clouds, destruction loomed.
A colossal, ominous presence descended slowly from the heavens like a meteor. Some sort of icy spherical entity, carrying an aura of annihilation and death, coldly surveyed all beneath it as if to bring about the end of days.
[Insect Zero, ATK?]
"Twenty-three fusions, a Level 10, godlike level!"
Keihei gazed up at the massive, icy sphere of terror, feeling as though he were staring into a black hole about to devour everything in its path.
Kaiba furrowed his brows slightly as the Ultimate Dragon roared defiantly towards the insect's location, unwilling to back down.
"This is the true form of the insects," Luca sneered. "Now, witness their ultimate might—
"Hmm?!"
Luca's expression changed abruptly.
The storm did not abate with the arrival of the final insect; instead, it grew more ferocious! Within the dark clouds, there seemed to be something else besides Insect Zero. No, perhaps it was the emergence of Insect Zero and the release of its destructive aura and terrifying energy that further stimulated the awakening of something else.
That force pierced through the heavens and earth, warping space and opening a passage to another dimension.
As the sky split apart, it seemed as if a pair of crimson eyes slowly opened beyond the rift.
The gale reached new heights. Vehicles on the streets were tossed about by the fierce wind, trees were uprooted, and utility poles snapped. The towering storm was like a hammer of doom, poised to deliver a devastating blow to the city.
"Big brother!" Keihei exclaimed anxiously. "If this continues, the city will be—"
Luca looked up at the dark shadow descending from the rift in the sky and furrowed his brows.
"Why has it appeared so soon? Could it be influenced by the power of Insect Zero?"
Countless lightning bolts danced like silver snakes, illuminating the city as bright as day. They didn't just flash by briefly; they cascaded down like a waterfall of light, raging across the sky and striking every corner of the city with ear-splitting thunder and sparkling explosions!
One bolt struck the very center of the dueling arena, causing the azure-colored duel barrier to shatter. Both duelists stumbled backward from the impact.
"Tsk, it looks like I won't fare well if I stay here any longer," Luca muttered.
With a soft hum, he pocketed his Duel Disk and leaped away, displaying incredible agility. He landed gracefully on top of a stack of shipping containers on the pier.
"You!" Kaiba shouted. "The duel isn't over yet! Are you trying to run away?!"
"Haha, run away? But the advantage is on my side now... Ah well, if that's what you think, so be it. We'll settle this duel another time."
Luca paused briefly atop the container and chuckled softly.
"Compared to me, Kaiba, you have a more pressing issue to deal with right now."
Kaiba's brows furrowed. As he turned, he saw a massive silhouette descending from the churning black clouds. Though it was just a vague outline, it resembled a writhing, colossal serpent.
A deep, sinister voice echoed through the air.
"We meet again, Kaiba Seto."
