Chapter 351: The Right-Wing Disruptor
Chapter 351: The Right-Wing Disruptor
As he crawled, Su Yu used his magic to tear his clothes into rags, making him look like a beggar on the street.
Once he reached the roadside, he extended his arm and weakly waved at the passing vehicles, shouting in Skrull, "Help me, please save me!"
Every two to three minutes, a hovercar would pass by on this road.
Hovercars are the most common mode of transportation for the Skrulls, utilizing household anti-gravity technology to glide just above the ground.
Su Yu's waving was accurately detected by the autonomous driving systems of the passing vehicles.
The systems then automatically sent a message to their owners: "A person in distress detected XX meters ahead. Stop the vehicle?"
This distress alert system is installed in every hovercar and cannot be uninstalled.
Speaking of this system, it's worth mentioning the two major factions on Skrull: the Left and the Right.
In the political spectrum of Skrull, the Left and the Right are two highly influential groups.
The Left-wing Skrulls are compassionate.
They place a strong emphasis on protecting the rights of vulnerable groups, environmental protection, animal welfare, and the rights of minority ethnic groups.
Some extreme Leftists would even cry and say, "It's not his (the killer's) fault; he also deserves sympathy," and forgive the murderer, even if the killer had murdered their parents.
The Right-wing Skrulls are the opposite extreme.
They are extremely selfish, caring only about their own interests. They would do anything that benefits them, even if it means harming innocent people. They strongly believe in the survival of the fittest and the purity of bloodlines.
The "distress alert system" in hovercars was mandated by the Left when they were in power, and every vehicle must have it.
So, every hovercar that passed by Su Yu received the distress message.
Unfortunately, however, Su Yu waited by the roadside for half an hour, and not a single one of the dozen or so hovercars that passed by stopped to help him, leaving him to wait in vain.
Morningstar, growing increasingly impatient, sent a telepathic message to Su Yu: "Krypton, how much longer do we need to wait? At this rate, I doubt anyone will stop to help us even by tomorrow!"
"Be patient," Su Yu replied calmly. "Don't think we've wasted half an hour; we've actually made some progress."
"Progress?" Morningstar was puzzled.
How could lying on the ground for half an hour be considered progress? Is he just trying to save face, or is he using some strange mental victory trick?
"Ha, it's like this," Su Yu explained, detailing the situation of the Skrull Left and Right to Morningstar.
Morningstar listened patiently and then fell into thought.
After a while, she said, "I understand the logic, but how does this relate to you lying on the ground for half an hour?"
"Of course, it does!" Su Yu smiled. "Half an hour, a dozen hovercars passed by, and no one stopped to help me. This means we are most likely in the heartland of the Right, the Sun Empire."
"Oh, and then what?"
"To deal with the Right, I need to use the 'Right-Wing Disruptor'!"
"The 'Right-Wing Disruptor'? What is that?"
"You'll see soon enough."
As Su Yu talked with Morningstar, he cast the Mirror Image spell.
An identical copy of Su Yu was created and left behind.
Meanwhile, Su Yu's real body quickly flew a kilometer away from the road.
Once he arrived, he took out a fist-sized piece of gold from his necklace, mixed it with sand and minerals, and used his magic to recombine them into a piece of "fool's gold."
The golden nugget was ready, and Su Yu returned to the roadside with it.
Then, Su Yu held up the golden nugget and shouted hoarsely, "Help me! Anyone, please help me!"
At that moment, his acting skills reached a peak, and he truly sounded like someone on the brink of death.
Just then, a blue hovercar passed by Su Yu. Like the others before it, this car initially drove past without stopping.
However, a few meters down the road, the car screeched to a sudden halt.
Two muscular Skrull men, dressed in black workout gear, jumped out of the car and approached Su Yu.
But they didn't look at him; their eyes were fixed on the golden nugget in his hand.
"Boss, it looks like the real deal!" one of the Skrulls said, his eyes gleaming.
"I think so too, it's real gold!"
The "boss" snatched the golden nugget from Su Yu's hand, weighed it, and confirmed it was about a kilogram of genuine gold.
The "boss" couldn't hide his excitement. "A nugget this big must be worth a few hundred thousand at least!"
They had just gone out for a casual drive and never expected to find such a valuable treasure on the road!
The other Skrull pulled out a laser pistol and pressed it against Su Yu's forehead. "Hey, kid! Where did you get this gold?"
"Please, don't kill me!" Su Yu pleaded weakly. "If you spare me, I'll tell you where the gold came from."
"Don't worry, we won't kill you," the "boss" said with a grin. "Killing you wouldn't do us any good. If you tell us where the gold is from, we'll take you to the nearest town and give you food and water."
"Alright," Su Yu sighed, trembling as he pointed behind him. "Just two kilometers away, our gang had a shootout with another group. Both sides were decimated, and I managed to escape. There are two more chests of gold like this one there."
About fifteen minutes later, the two Skrull men dragged Su Yu to the location he had described.
They walked cautiously, guns at the ready, scanning the area for any surviving gang members.
But when they arrived at the spot Su Yu had mentioned, they found no signs of a shootout. The area looked like any other deserted wasteland.
"Hey, kid! Are you trying to trick us?" the "boss" pointed the laser pistol at Su Yu.
At this point, Su Yu decided to drop the act.
He stood up straight and smiled. "So what if I am?"
"You're asking for it!" The "boss" didn't hesitate and pulled the trigger, a laser beam shooting from the gun.
Before the shot was fired, Su Yu had already used his "Blink" spell to appear behind them.
He then took out the "Soul Stealer Wand" and "Xifan's Soul Fragment" from his necklace.
"Mind Control!"
Two dark purple beams shot from the wand and enveloped the heads of the two Skrulls.
These Skrulls were just ordinary people, and their minds were instantly dominated by Su Yu.
The reason Su Yu led them two kilometers away before using mind control was that every hovercar was equipped with surveillance cameras, which had a coverage range of about 500 meters.
By staying out of the cameras' range, he could cast his spells without fear of being exposed.
