Chapter 35: Eliminating the Ghosts
Chapter 35: Eliminating the Ghosts
There were no ghosts on Blue Star originally.
Once, a pilot dropped "Little Boy" on Neon Country, and that pilot lived to be 92 years old, dying of natural causes. This was proof that Blue Star had no ghosts.
However, with the resurgence of psychic powers, some sinister entities have resurfaced.
Moreover, the Skrulls have used "psychic springs" to create numerous monsters, like the creatures from Ultraman and the terrifying deep-sea beasts from Pacific Rim. These monstrosities have begun to appear on Blue Star.
Of course, these large creatures will only start showing up a few months from now.
For now, the Skrulls can only create a batch of ghosts to wreak havoc in the human world of Blue Star.
The native ghosts, along with the artificially created extraterrestrial ghosts, have joined forces, forming the primary threat to Blue Star's humans for the first three months.
Su Yu's current mission is to find and eliminate as many of these ghosts as possible.
This is not just for the sake of humanity but also for his own benefit, as he gains additional rewards for each ghost he eliminates.
After over an hour of diligent searching, a news article finally caught Su Yu's attention.
East Sea University is Forming a Hope Primary School Teaching Team
June 2, 8:00 AM.
Su Yu drove to the entrance of a supermarket near East Sea University.
He had come specifically because of the news about the rural teaching program.
In his previous life, East Sea University organized this rural teaching program, but in the end, over thirty college students and hundreds of teachers and students at the Hope Primary School all died mysteriously!
The incident caused a major uproar, and the government dispatched a large number of police to investigate, but they found nothing, not even the cause of death.
It wasn't until three months later that the truth came to light.
Experts concluded that a ghost was responsible, and the ghost had possessed the female teacher leading the team—Fang Min.
East Sea University was Su Yu's alma mater, so he remembered this incident very clearly.
This time, he had come to prevent the tragedy from happening again.
Walking into the supermarket, Su Yu stopped in front of a shelf in the toy section.
The shelf sold Ultraman masks, Ultraman figures, and Ultraman transformation devices.
Seeing the Ultraman mask, Su Yu had an idea.
He reached out, pretending to take the mask.
However, his hand didn't touch the mask but instead lightly pressed against the wall.
A surge of electricity flowed from his palm into the wall, heading toward the surveillance camera above.
Crack!
The camera was hit by the powerful current and immediately short-circuited.
Su Yu's expression remained unchanged.
He calmly took the Ultraman mask, tucked it into his chest, and walked briskly toward the supermarket exit.
As he left the supermarket, he made sure to destroy all the surveillance cameras to prevent anyone from tracing his movements.
Stepping out onto the street, Su Yu released the Invisibility Spell and quickly walked forward while remaining invisible.
Since he wasn't sure where the street cameras were, he used the Invisibility Spell to move quickly.
He entered the university campus, using Blink in combination with Invisibility to avoid the cameras, and using electrical magic to destroy any that he couldn't avoid. He was extremely professional in his approach.
This level of expertise was honed during his multiple infiltrations of Skrull bases, making infiltrating the university a minor task.
He continued to move stealthily.
After checking the teacher duty roster in the administrative building, Su Yu went to Room 301 in the third teaching building, where he found the team leader from the news—Fang Min.
Fang Min, a young female teacher in her late twenties, stood at the podium in her white dress, lecturing her students.
Su Yu stood outside the classroom door.
Even from several meters away, he could already smell the strong presence of a ghost.
"Yep, it's her! No mistake about it!"
Su Yu donned an Ultraman mask and kicked the classroom door open with a powerful front kick.
Ms. Fang Min, who was in the middle of her lecture, was startled.
A young man had suddenly burst into the classroom, and when she saw the mask on his head, she realized something was seriously wrong.
Ms. Fang Min took a couple of steps back and shouted, "Student, what do you want?!"
Su Yu didn't respond.
He quickly approached and, before the female teacher could react, slapped her hard across the face. At the same time, he channeled his Lightning Magic through his hand, purging the ghost from her head.
Ms. Fang Min was hit solidly, and at the same moment, a chilling wind swept through the classroom.
Whoosh—Whoosh—
A dark, shapeless mass leaped out of the teacher's head and quickly flew out the window.
[Soul Devourer Level 9]
A Level 9 ghost? This was unexpected, but fortunately, even though it was a higher level than Su Yu, it was still a zero-rank ghost and posed no significant threat to him.
Su Yu pretended to pick up something from under the podium and materialized the [Village Elder's Staff] in his left hand. In a flash, he followed the Soul Devourer out the window.
"Lok Tar'Ogar! Take this staff from your grandpa Sun!"
In mid-air, Su Yu used the [Village Elder's Staff] with the [Lightning Arrow] spell, striking the Soul Devourer.
Sizzle—Sizzle—
A thick cloud of black mist erupted from the Soul Devourer's body.
It struggled, its form trembling as if begging for mercy.
Su Yu ignored it. As soon as the first [Lightning Arrow] ended, he cast a second one.
Under the continuous barrage of two [Lightning Arrows], the Soul Devourer's body disintegrated into a thick black mist.
Su Yu had jumped from the third floor. As he was about to land, he timed his [Blink] spell perfectly.
Zap!
Su Yu landed on the ground with perfect stability.
The students in the classroom were utterly dumbfounded.
What just happened?
First, a man wearing an Ultraman mask burst in and slapped their teacher.
Then, the man picked up a branch from under the podium and jumped out the window?
Was this a bug in the world, or was there something wrong with them?
After a moment of stunned silence, the students rushed to the window.
Many of them started dialing "110" and "120."
But when they looked out the window, they saw a noxious cloud of black mist floating outside.
As for the masked man, he seemed unharmed, sitting cross-legged on the ground as if meditating.
The students were nearly driven mad.
This world must be broken! It must be!
But one of the students, a pretty girl, was particularly stunned.
The young man's figure seemed oddly familiar to her.
