Chapter 349: Mordo and Kasichias (First Update)
Chapter 349: Mordo and Kasichias (First Update)
"Carmen, please follow me. We need to visit the Sanctum first, and I need to inform the mages there."
Seeing Jerry agree, the Ancient One drew a line in the air with one hand, and the fiery circle with strong Spatial Magic fluctuations appeared once again.
Watching the Ancient One step into the fiery circle, Jerry didn't hesitate to follow closely behind.
As they stepped through the fiery circle, the scene before them changed from Queens Woods to the front of 177A Brick Street, which he had previously suspected was the New York Sanctum.
"This Spatial Magic is quite fascinating!"
Seeing the fiery circle disappear, a glint of interest flashed in Jerry's eyes.
When the Ancient One first appeared, he had observed this Spatial portal-like Magic. Although it wasn't as fast as Apparition, it could stably open a Spatial portal, allowing anyone to use it for Spatial travel.
"That is the most basic Magic of Kamar-Taj. If you're interested, I can teach you later!"
The Ancient One, while opening the door, noticed Jerry's thoughtful expression as he looked at the fiery circle.
"Thank you!"
Jerry smiled but didn't say more.
He found that the Ancient One seemed to have a very open-minded attitude, lacking the conservative views typical of mages. Or perhaps, the Ancient One wasn't overly guarded against him, at least not for now.
However, this wasn't necessarily a good thing. While he was very interested in Kamar-Taj's Magic, he had no intention of joining Kamar-Taj.
More accurately, he didn't plan to join any faction in the Main World.
It wasn't just a matter of trust; primarily, he didn't want to be bound by rules.
As a mage alliance led by the Ancient One, Kamar-Taj had the responsibility of protecting Earth and various regulations. Joining would mean adhering to their rules.
For example, if Hydra attacked his family, his temperament would lead him to directly destroy them all to eliminate future threats and earn some Red Stars.
But if he joined Kamar-Taj, the Ancient One might not allow such actions, leading to conflicts.
By not joining Kamar-Taj, as long as he didn't destroy the world, the Ancient One wouldn't likely interfere with him.
His intention in following the Ancient One to Kamar-Taj was to exchange his unique Magic knowledge for knowledge that Kamar-Taj hadn't learned, a fair trade, not a free ride or a commitment.
After all, he was a powerful mage with knowledge of the four major Magic systems. Although he wasn't currently a match for the Ancient One, he couldn't lose his dignity.
To be honest, aside from the Ancient One, he felt that with his current Magic prowess, no other mages in Kamar-Taj could compare to him.
After all, when Odin mentioned the Ancient One, he was more cautious. For the other mages in Kamar-Taj, Odin didn't seem to hold them in high regard.
Moreover, the volume of Magic knowledge in his mind might not be less than what Kamar-Taj possessed.
"Supreme Sorcerer!"
As they entered the Sanctum, a black-robed African man approached and respectfully bowed to the Ancient One.
The Ancient One, showing no airs, returned the bow with equal respect:
"Daniel, I will be away from the Sanctum for a few days. Please lead the other mages in its defense!"
"Yes, Master!"
The mage called Daniel glanced curiously at Jerry, who was standing behind the Ancient One, but did not ask any questions and immediately responded.
"Creak!"
On the second floor of the Sanctum, Jerry watched as the Ancient One twisted a button. The Spatial door, which had been fixed on the ocean, instantly transformed, and a grand hall with a Chinese architectural style appeared behind it.
"Kamar-Taj seems to have a deep understanding of Spatial Magic."
Jerry gazed at the three Spatial doors that could instantly transport one to various parts of the world and let out a sigh of admiration. While a Portkey could also teleport, it was clearly not as convenient as these Spatial doors. However, his Portkey could be carried around, whereas these Spatial doors seemed to be fixed within a Magic array.
"The mysteries of Magic are profound, and Spatial Magic is among the most intricate. Kamar-Taj's library has many books on the theory of Spatial Magic. If you're interested, you can take a look."
The Ancient One led Jerry through the Spatial door into the hall with the Chinese architectural style.
Two mages stood in the hall: a Black mage and a White mage. Upon seeing the Ancient One, they both bowed respectfully.
"Is this Tibet?"
Looking at the architectural style and the noticeably lower oxygen levels in the air, as well as the sunlight streaming through the windows into the hall, Jerry immediately thought of Tibet.
"Close enough. To be precise, we are on the Himalayas, near Kathmandu, Nepal!"
Before the Ancient One could respond, the Black mage stepped forward and answered.
The Ancient One then smiled and introduced them:
"These are my two disciples, Karl Mordo and Kasichias. This is Jerry Carmen!"
Mordo and Kasichias performed the Kamar-Taj mage salute to Jerry, who reciprocated with the same gesture.
"I'll show you the training grounds of Kamar-Taj."
With the introductions complete, the Ancient One led Jerry out of the hall.
Once Jerry and the Ancient One had left, the White mage named Kasichias said with a subtle expression:
"This is the Carmen the Ancient One mentioned. He doesn't seem that impressive!"
"Kasichias, while you are the most talented mage at Kamar-Taj, don't underestimate the mages outside. Carmen is not as simple as you think."
Mordo, the Black mage, shook his head. During the battle in New York, he and his Master, the Ancient One, had defended the New York Sanctum. He had personally witnessed the various magical abilities Carmen had displayed.
He believed that, in terms of magical prowess, he was no match for Carmen.
"If the Master hadn't held back, my strength would not be inferior to hers!"
Kasichias snorted coldly.
Mordo's brow furrowed, and he said sternly:
"Kasichias, the Master has taught you all the Magic she knows. Your strength is inferior to hers only because your talent cannot compare to hers."
The Master was the person he trusted and respected the most, and he was highly displeased with his junior disciple's audacity to question her.
"Is that so? Then why won't she teach us the Magic of Eternal Life? Kamar-Taj has existed for so long, and countless mages have died, yet she remains alive!"
Kasichias left this statement hanging and, without waiting for Mordo's response, turned and left the hall.
