Chapter 347: The Second Kill
Chapter 347: The Second Kill
Isaiah regained consciousness from her stupor, feeling sore all over, and instinctively cried out for help.
"Umm... Umm..."
She then realized that her hands and feet were all bound by the dark magic ropes of restriction spells.
Her mouth and eyes were also covered with black cloth.
Who? Who did this?
Isaiah struggled desperately, barely managing to catch a glimpse of light through her eyes, and in her vision, she saw three figures.
It was them! Before losing consciousness, the abyssal creatures had invaded the base in large numbers, and Isaiah had been sent to the front lines under the command of a wizard.
Just as she was fighting the abyssal creatures, a sharp pain struck the back of her head, and she passed out.
The pain at the back of her head remained, indicating that not much time had passed.
This was a donkey cart imbued with magic, and she was lying on the cartboard, her body swaying as the cart moved forward.
"She's awake."
Claude, mounted on a horse, spoke in a cold tone:
"Don't bother struggling, and don't expect anyone to save you. We're near the abyssal rift, and there's no way your reinforcements will reach you here."
"Claude!" Isaiah growled through gritted teeth, her voice muffled by the cloth covering her mouth:
"Aren't you afraid of Wizard Lynn's revenge?"
"Afraid!" Claude smirked:
"Of course, I'm afraid."
"But I also have a mentor, and whether Lynn can survive the creature invasion is still uncertain."
He pointed to the two companions beside him:
"Do you know them?"
Isaiah turned her head, peering through the gap in the cloth at the man and woman, their unfamiliar faces causing her to shake her head.
"Recently, Wizard Lynn helped a pair of siblings reclaim the credits that belonged to them."
Claude explained:
"It's them."
Isaiah's eyes widened.
She had heard about this incident. The siblings had wanted to seek refuge with Lynn after the incident but were rejected, and then they were hunted down by Charles' men.
When the news reached Lynn, he remained unmoved.
Fortunately!
It seemed that the siblings had been bought by Charles long ago. If Lynn had gone to rescue them, he would have fallen into a trap.
"Pfft!"
Isaiah bit down on the cloth covering her mouth, her tone disdainful.
"See the path clearly, and you'll walk further," Claude advised:
"If they hadn't sought refuge with my mentor, they would have died long ago. How could they have survived until now?"
"You too!"
He pointed with his finger and continued:
"Wizard Lynn is still young. If he's willing to go to such lengths to find Susan, he'll definitely save you. Just cooperate with our actions, and when the time comes to deal with Lynn, you'll have made a significant contribution. We won't kill you; instead, we'll reward you."
"Pfft!"
Isaiah retorted angrily:
"I will never betray Lynn!"
"Heh..." Claude shook his head:
"That's not certain. You should know that when the time comes, you won't have a choice."
Isaiah's face turned pale.
"We're here!"
Claude pulled on the reins, dismounted from his horse, and ordered the siblings to pull the cart into a canyon.
As they ventured deeper, the temperature rose.
The hard rocks turned into swirling yellow sand, making their journey challenging, but they eventually reached a cavern.
"Senior!"
Claude stopped and shouted into the depths of the cavern:
"We've brought the person!"
"Huff..."
A gust of wind rushed out of the cavern, but instead of feeling refreshing, it was scorching hot.
The high temperature caused their hair to curl, and the robes on their bodies automatically activated defensive spells, while their hands rose to shield their faces.
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
A violent tremor shook the ground.
A ball of fire emerged from the darkness, and as it drew closer, a lion as large as an elephant came into view.
The colossal lion was enveloped in flames, its eyes like copper bells, and its breath carried sparks. It scanned the group with its gaze, and the psychic power of the full wizard washed over them like waves.
"Senior Xavier!"
Claude's throat constricted, suppressing the fear in his heart, and he bowed respectfully:
"I've brought the person as requested. As long as you spread the word, Lynn will surely come."
"Huff..."
"Crack!"
As soon as he finished speaking, a gust of hot wind rushed towards him, and he felt a sharp pain in his neck before losing consciousness completely.
"Ah!"
A scream echoed.
The colossal lion pounced and bit down, tearing Claude's head off with one bite.
Isaiah paled in fear, his body tensed, while the siblings beside him let out startled cries.
"Swish!"
The lion showed no signs of stopping; it pounced again, pinning the siblings to the ground and tearing into them.
In the blink of an eye, three broken and mangled corpses lay on the ground.
"Xize!"
Just then, an angry roar came from behind, followed by a gust of wind in the canyon:
"What are you doing?!"
The wind subsided, revealing Charles' figure. He glared at the lion, holding his staff, his eyes filled with confusion.
The lion paid him no heed and, with a light leap, its massive body became as agile as a weasel. It landed beside Isaiah.
In Isaiah's terrified gaze, the lion gently waved its claws, breaking the restraints on Isaiah's body.
"Hmm?" Isaiah was taken aback, and then he saw the lion shrink, transforming into a familiar human figure.
"Linen!"
Charles was equally stunned:
"How can it be you?"
"And me!" A nondescript stone at the canyon's entrance began to move, transforming into Maggie's figure.
She looked at Charles, her voice cold:
"Charles, you dare collude with the black wizard from the Abyssal Cottage, plotting to harm your fellow companions from the Academy."
"According to the rules..."
"Boom!"
Before she could finish, flames erupted in the arena, and two figures intertwined, casting spells in a fierce battle.
"Oh..."
Maggie was speechless:
"Let me finish!"
However, after spending time with Linen, she had come to understand his personality. He wasn't the type to be long-winded.
On the contrary,
Once he took action, he was merciless, showing no mercy, unlike a typical sixteen or seventeen-year-old boy.
Instead, he seemed more like an experienced knight!
"Bang!"
The wind and flames clashed in mid-air, and both combatants retreated. Charles stared at Linen in astonishment:
"How is this possible? You're only at the First Circle Mid-stage!"
"Thanks to you." Linen held his staff, and the flames behind him expanded like a grand tapestry, covering half of the canyon. His power was far beyond what one would expect from a newly advanced Full Wizard.
"The Great Flame Bloodline, when devouring the bloodline of fellow cultivators, not only enhances the bloodline but also increases cultivation."
"With the sacrifice of Kito and Xize, I managed to attain the cultivation of the First Circle Mid-stage."
It was indeed a sacrifice.
The two wizards, who had lived for over a hundred years, had given almost everything to Linen. It would have been strange if he hadn't made progress.
"Swish!"
A Flame Scale Wyrm with a pair of horns on its head appeared in the arena.
"Hiss..."
As the wyrm gently spat out its snake's tongue, the temperature in the arena soared, and the flames above nearly engulfed the entire canyon.
"Stop!"
Charles' face changed:
"I am a Full Wizard of the Academy. Even if I have done wrong, the Academy should decide my punishment through deliberation. You're taking the law into your own hands, and the Academy won't let you off either!"
"Hmph..." Linen flicked his serpent tail, shaking his head lightly:
"Do you think I care?"
"Swish!"
Before he could finish speaking, his massive serpentine body lunged forward.
The Flame Scale Wyrm, even if it was barely at the Second Stage, couldn't maintain this form for long with Linen's current cultivation.
He couldn't afford to delay.
Maggie, who had been preventing Charles from escaping, shook her head lightly and touched her forehead.
"Linen..."
"You're too bold!"
Even as she spoke, her eyes lit up, and her long hair danced as she fired numerous petrification spells at Charles.
Kill first, ask questions later!
