Chapter 346: South Park Chapter (Xiii)
The parking lot in front of the shopping mall still had several streetlights intact, their glow combined with bright moonlight ensuring decent visibility across the area.
But in this moment, a sudden eruption of fire engulfed the surroundings, bathing everything in an intense orange-yellow hue.
The explosion’s shockwave shattered the glass of most cars within a hundred meters. Thick plumes of smoke billowed skyward, raising the temperature across the entire parking lot by several degrees.
R2’s whereabouts at the epicenter were unknown, and the situation looked grim.
Feng Bu Jue hovered in the air, observing calmly. He had no intention of fleeing alone. He knew R2 was his only hope to leave the Sandbox alive. If R2 was truly eliminated, even if he escaped, he’d have no idea how to locate the so-called "Back Door."
"Mad Bu Jue." R2’s voice suddenly echoed. Though his words came from a distance, every syllable reached Feng Bu Jue’s ears clearly. "Maintain your current altitude. Use Moon Step for a while."
Feng Bu Jue didn’t respond but followed the instructions. Activating Moon Step, he propelled himself upward, gaining more elevation.
Meanwhile, on the ground, R2 emerged from the roaring flames, stepping into the center of the parking lot. Surprisingly unscathed, his clothing remained perfectly intact. A closer look revealed a glowing blue energy field enveloping his body—the key distinction between a Level-2 derivative being and lower-tier ones.
"Unfortunately, ‘standard data’ can’t harm me", R2 declared, addressing the Origin Organization members surrounding him. "Using props from this scenario is pointless." He spread his arms. "If you want to kill me, use your own strength."
The derivative beings showed no facial expression changes but reacted in unison—they charged at R2 from all directions, each unleashing their abilities simultaneously.
"To maximize combat effectiveness before sustaining greater losses… attempting to overwhelm me in one decisive strike", R2 mused, slowly crouching. "A sound strategy. The previous tanker truck was also clever… your intelligence exceeds my expectations." He suddenly leaped. "Unfortunately… it’s still futile."
Though his jump started powerfully, R2 didn’t soar high—only reaching two meters. However, his next move revealed where that force had gone.
Mid-air, his body twisted violently. Using the momentum, his legs lashed outward, releasing a barrage of vacuum slashes in all directions.
Hundreds of crescent-shaped energy blades scattered horizontally, spinning like spirals as they flew. This radial attack, resembling steel blades but packing artillery-like force, caught the Origin Organization’s derivative beings completely off guard.
A perfect circular zone of destruction expanded rapidly, shredding everything within.
Watching from above, Feng Bu Jue was awestruck. He recognized these strikes as Storm Leg—but this was a far more advanced application than the basic version he’d just learned.
This was a fundamental principle of the Terrifying Paradise skill system. Feng Bu Jue’s Less Hasty Repair had evolved from Hasty Repair, and other skills followed similar progression paths.
R2’s current Storm Leg - Spiral White Blade, if measured by proficiency level, would undoubtedly be S-rank. However, this technique had no official skill card and didn’t occupy an extra skill slot. Fundamentally, it was still Storm Leg—just a spontaneous evolution unlocked when the user’s power reached a certain realm.
"Oh? Still a survivor…" R2 landed, immediately turning to face the sole Origin Organization derivative being who’d survived the Spiral White Blade.
Roar—
A tiger’s roar accompanied a streaking shadow.
The survivor lunged at R2, hands shaped like claws striking ferociously. Amber light radiated from his palm strikes.
Clearly a powerful technique—the derivative being was no ordinary foe.
Still off-balance, R2 crossed his arms to block. The impact sent him flying backward with tremendous force.
Shriek—Boom!
R2’s feet carved two skid-like marks across the ground, slightly slowing his retreat… until his back slammed against the shopping mall’s wall. The thick concrete cracked and caved inward before he finally stopped.
"I see… enhanced with Beast Imitation Strengthening", R2 exhaled. "Unexpected that a Level-4 could achieve such refinement. Source must’ve done something risky again… I’ll need to report this."
"Hey… while I’d love to stand aside", Feng Bu Jue called out, descending slowly via Moon Step to R2’s flank, "I should ask… do you need help?"
"Underestimating me, huh?" R2 shot him a cold glare.
The moment the words left his mouth, a sandbag-sized fist slammed into his face.
The Beast Imitation Strengthening user pressed their advantage, launching a flurry of blows that trapped R2 against the wall.
"That initial strike was decent", R2 remarked calmly mid-beating. "But this… feels like scratching through boots."
Suddenly, R2 vanished from Feng Bu Jue’s sight.
The next moment, a Light Blade descended from above, cleaving the Beast Imitation-enhanced derivative being in half vertically. As the corpse fell, Feng Bu Jue got a clear view of its cross-section—cut so cleanly by the blade’s incredible speed that organs, bones, and muscles looked like a surgical diagram.
R2 landed gracefully. "After all, at Level-4, data intensity has limits. Techniques like that can’t be repeated immediately", he mused, not looking back at Feng Bu Jue. "You can lower your Death Poker now."
Feng Bu Jue stood frozen mid-air, Death Poker raised, looking utterly stunned.
He’d meant to help, but the battle ended the instant he lifted his hand…
"Hmph… right", Feng Bu Jue sheathed his psionic weapon, clearing his throat awkwardly. "Well, I’ve got a clearer idea of your strength now. Lead the way."
