Chapter 346: One Man Against a Ninja Village
Chapter 346: One Man Against a Ninja Village
"Lord Hayuki, fear not. With Teacher Mu Yue here, all of you will be safe," Kakashi assured calmly.
As they hadn't officially engaged in battle yet, Kakashi wasn't sure about the true strength of the hundreds of ninjas before them. But Mu Yue wasn't one to make baseless claims. On the contrary, she had always been humble, even though her strength surpassed that of the Substitute Raikage, and she hadn't boasted about winning during their previous encounter.
So, when Mu Yue said she could quell the rebellion, Kakashi believed her, and he was certain there would be no mishaps.
"But..." Hayuki was still finding it hard to believe.
After all, in his world, being able to fight hundreds of ordinary men was already astonishing. But they were facing hundreds of ninjas, some of whom were quite powerful.
Hayuki wasn't a ninja himself, but seeing how quickly his ninjas were defeated, he knew their opponents were superior.
"Father, I don't want to leave," Koyuki said, clutching Hayuki's arms tightly.
Looking at his daughter with tears in her eyes, Hayuki sighed. How could he bear to be separated from his beloved child?
"Mu Yue, please take care of them. If things go awry, please do your best to get Koyuki to safety," Hayuki said, putting Koyuki down and bowing deeply to Mu Yue.
As a ninja who had only accepted the task of protecting Koyuki, Mu Yue had already done her best. Not only had she helped expose Hayuki's crimes, but she was also willing to stand by them at this critical moment.
Mu Yue nodded slightly to reassure Hayuki, then turned to her three disciples and said, "You don't need to take the offensive. Just protect Koyuki and the Daimyo."
Both Hayuki and Koyuki must be kept safe. Hayuki's death would have a significant impact on the Land of Snow, and protecting Koyuki was at the core of their mission.
The disciples, who were no strangers to missions, nodded in understanding.
After giving her instructions, Mu Yue strode forward to face the approaching Snow Ninjas.
"Hyouton: White Dragon's Ice Breath!"
Hanyou Hyouga condensed his chakra in his mouth and exhaled, shooting out countless ice projectiles in all directions.
Shush!
Blooms of blood flowered in the air as many guards were struck by the ice projectiles.
"Hyouton: One-Horned White Whale!"
"Hyouton: Crushing Dragon Tiger!"
Seizing the opportunity, many Snow Ninjas performed hand seals and unleashed their ninjutsu, aiming to wipe out the guards with an array of powerful Snow Secret Technique beasts.
There were ninjas among the guards, but their strength paled in comparison to the Snow Ninjas, especially now that they were injured and unable to withstand the onslaught of ninjutsu.
"Katon: Phoenix Flower Jutsu!"
Just as the guards thought the battle was about to end, a barrage of dense fireballs erupted from behind them, soaring over their heads in a graceful arc and slamming into the ice whales and snow tigers.
BOOM!!!
Brilliant flames burst forth, accompanied by deafening explosions, as the ice and snow beasts created by the Snow Ninjas were obliterated and reduced to white smoke.
"This is Teacher Mu Yue, the powerful ninja hired by Lord Hayuki. Everyone, don't give up! We still have a chance to win!" Santaro Yamanaka turned and saw Mu Yue approaching, his face lit up with excitement.
Although they knew very little about Mu Yue, at this moment, Santaro could only choose to believe in her. The fact was that they were no match for the Snow Ninjas led by Hayuki's anger.
"Perhaps she can do it," Hayuki thought, a glimmer of hope shining in his heart.
The confidence displayed by Obito and his team, coupled with Mu Yue's self-assurance and the impressive display of her Fire Style ninjutsu, led Hayuki to believe that Mu Yue could bring about a miracle.
"Ice Seal, he is Yu Sheng Muyu. Are you sure?" Seeing the terrifying power of Mu Yue's Fire Style ninjutsu, Hayuki turned to Hanyou Hyouga and asked.
Hayuki's anger was currently the person he wanted to get rid of the most, besides Hayuki himself. Ever since Mu Yue arrived in the Land of Snow, he hadn't had a single day's peace.
"A ninja capable of fighting a jinchuriki is indeed formidable. But if it's just at this level, even without my Chakra Battle Armor, I can still defeat him," Hanyou replied confidently.
The effect Mu Yue had just achieved with her attack was something he could replicate, or even surpass, with his most powerful ninjutsu, Black Dragon Storm.
"If he had a few more years of training, I might not be his match. If this kid doesn't die, he might become the next Sannin." Although Hanyou claimed to be certain of victory, he no longer underestimated Mu Yue.
After all, he had started his training at the age of six and had only reached his current level of strength after more than thirty years. In contrast, Mu Yue was not yet twenty.
"In that case, leave this side to you. I'll find an opportunity to get in and capture Hayuki," Hayuki said, feeling relieved by Hanyou's confidence.
Hanyou nodded in agreement. Letting Hayuki escape would indeed be a big problem.
"You should all fall back. It won't be good if you're accidentally injured," Mu Yue said to the guards.
With hundreds of ninjas on the opposing side, Mu Yue knew she would have to use large-scale ninjutsu. As they didn't have many reliable ninjas on their side, she chose to have the guards retreat to avoid friendly fire as she took on the entire Snow Ninja Village alone.
Santaro stared at Mu Yue, bewildered, wondering if he had suffered hearing damage during the battle.
"Teacher Mu Yue, are you going to fight the enemy alone?" one of the guards blurted out, unable to contain his curiosity.
While Mu Yue had indeed shown exceptional strength, her decision seemed perplexing.
"Teacher Mu Yue, many of us here are still capable of fighting," Santaro said, gripping his long sword tightly.
Mu Yue shook her head and explained, "Falling back is the best way you can help me. The ninjutsu I'll be using will have a wide range."
The guards' intentions were commendable, but the reality was cruel. From Mu Yue's perspective, they were more of a hindrance than a help.
While Mu Yue possessed exceptional chakra control, facing hundreds of ninjas while also trying to avoid harming her allies would be extremely taxing. Some of the guards were ordinary people who wouldn't be able to dodge attacks as ninjas could.
As one of the guards was about to say something, several Snow Ninjas charged forward.
Whoosh!
Mu Yue's figure blurred as she moved at a speed imperceptible to the average person, appearing before the Snow Ninjas and delivering rapid punches.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Several Snow Ninjas who had rushed forward were sent flying back even faster, crashing into the ground or into their comrades.
From Santaro's perspective, Mu Yue's body seemed to blur for a moment, and the Snow Ninjas were knocked back before he could fully process what was happening. By the time he reacted, Mu Yue had already returned to her original position.
"Is this the power of a true strong?" Santaro was left dazed.
"Everyone, fall back and don't interfere with Teacher Mu Yue's battle," Santaro finally shouted, choosing to trust in Mu Yue's strength and believing that her confidence wasn't misplaced.
Some of the ninjas among the guards, recognizing Mu Yue's prowess, nodded and retreated, understanding the importance of not hindering her.
Mu Yue, with his breath switched to the Flame Breath, exhaled a colossal fireball that engulfed all the incoming attacks. With his current mastery over fire-style jutsu, even his Great Fireball Technique packed a formidable punch.
"What a powerful fire-style ninjutsu!"
The Snow Ninjas' foreheads glistened with cold sweat as they witnessed the enormous fireball, twice the size of a house.
"Hyouton: One-Horned White Whale!"
Hanyou Hyouga immediately rushed forward, gathering a substantial amount of chakra to create an even larger ice whale that collided with the fireball, causing it to shatter. However, the intense heat of the Great Fireball eventually melted the ice whale as well.
Witnessing this exchange, the Snow Ninjas' morale soared. Mu Yue was strong, but their leader was equally formidable.
Just then, silvery-white fragments began to descend from the sky.
While this was a common occurrence in the Land of Snow, it caused discomfort among the defenders and excitement among the Snow Ninjas on the battlefield.
"Damn, the Snow Ninjas' jutsu becomes stronger when it snows," one of the ninja defenders remarked, his gaze towards Mu Yue filled with worry.
The sheer number of enemies, coupled with the environmental boost they received, seemed like an insurmountable challenge.
"Kid, it seems heaven is determined to destroy you." Hanyou Hyouga laughed aloud.
The sudden snowfall only added to their already significant advantage.
"Is that so? Actually, that Great Fireball Technique I just used is one of the weaker jutsu in my repertoire," Mu Yue replied with a faint smile, his expression unperturbed by the changing environment.
While it was true that the environment could influence the power of a ninja's jutsu, when the gap in strength was too vast, environmental factors became negligible.
"Hmph, bluffing," Hanyou Hyouga scoffed, believing that Mu Yue was exaggerating his capabilities.
A fire-style jutsu of that caliber would even give him a run for his money, and he'd have to employ a serious jutsu to counter it; it was far from being weak.
"Flame Breath, full concentration!"
Mu Yue focused his breathing, enhancing his physical capabilities and amplifying his fire-attribute chakra nature. He then performed a series of hand seals, gathering a massive amount of chakra in his throat.
"Katon: Great Fire Annihilation!"
HUUUUU!!!
Mu Yue unleashed a gargantuan inferno from his mouth, melting and drying the ice and snow beneath his feet instantaneously. Everything combustible within the vicinity was engulfed in flames, and even the snowflakes yet to descend were vaporized by the scorching heat.
A broad, orange-red sea of fire rapidly formed around Mu Yue, generating such intense heat that some of the defenders, despite the snowfall, broke into a sweat.
Witnessing the terrifying inferno, the defenders who had retreated as instructed by Mu Yue finally understood his rationale. Had they stayed any closer, they too would have been reduced to charred remains.
At that moment, Asama Santaro was immensely grateful that Mu Yue had accepted the mission. He believed that even in prominent ninja villages like Konoha, ninjas of Mu Yue's caliber would be few and far between.
"I told you Mu Yue-sensei is super powerful. With him here, we're definitely going to be fine," Obito boasted, standing at a higher vantage point and gazing proudly at the dazzling sea of fire.
Obito felt partially responsible for the success of the Great Fire Annihilation jutsu, as it was he who had bestowed the technique upon Mu Yue. Now that Mu Yue had mastered it, he could, in turn, teach Obito. Perhaps Mu Yue would even figure out its intricacies faster than he had.
"I suppose posting that mission was the only right decision I've made lately," Fu Yahoshi sighed, marveling at the towering flames.
With Mu Yue's intervention, a glimmer of hope blossomed in Fu Yahoshi's heart.
While Kakashi was awestruck by the prowess of Mu Yue's fire-style jutsu, he remained vigilant, carefully scanning their surroundings for any signs of enemies breaching their defenses.
After all, the guards didn't seem very dependable, and it wouldn't be surprising if a few Snow Ninjas slipped through amidst the chaos.
"Quick, let's use a defensive jutsu together!"
Sensing the surge of power emanating from Mu Yue, Hanyou Hyouga immediately shouted, his tone laced with disbelief.
Although it was hard to fathom, it seemed that Mu Yue had indeed been holding back, and he did possess far more formidable jutsu.
Standing at the forefront, Hanyou Hyouga was the closest to the sea of fire, and he could feel its terrifying heat more intensely than anyone else. He stared at Mu Yue, incredulous that the young man he had underestimated could wield such awe-inspiring fire-style ninjutsu.
In that moment, Hanyou Hyouga cursed Fu Yahoshi in his mind. It was Fu Yahoshi's intel that had led him to dismiss the need for further investigation into Mu Yue. But now, witnessing Mu Yue's display of strength, he wondered if the intel had been falsified.
However, Hanyou Hyouga didn't have the luxury of pondering what had gone wrong. He had to use a jutsu to counter the fire-style attack.
"Hyouton: Ice Wall!"
Hanyou Hyouga and several dozen Snow Ninjas simultaneously performed a defensive jutsu, conjuring three immensely solid walls of ice and snow.
While a single Snow Ninja's defensive jutsu might not have been enough to withstand Mu Yue's fire jutsu, the combined efforts of dozens of ninjas changed the equation.
The thick walls of ice and snow, infused with a substantial amount of chakra, successfully halted the advance of Mu Yue's scorching flames.
As the Snow Ninjas and the defenders looked on, the first ice wall quickly melted under the relentless heat. The sea of fire diminished in size, and once the second ice wall was gone, it shrank further. Finally, when the last ice wall melted, the vast sea of fire also vanished.
Hanyou Hyouga breathed a sigh of relief. Mu Yue was undoubtedly powerful, but he wasn't invincible. They still had a fighting chance, even against such a formidable opponent, as long as they maintained their numerical advantage.
"Damn, if only our ninjas could do the same..." Asama Santaro muttered, his eyes glued to the dissipating flames, a bitter taste in his mouth.
He couldn't help but feel frustrated that Hanyou Hyouga's side had hundreds of ninjas to aid him, while they couldn't provide the same level of support to Mu Yue.
"Well done. You managed to withstand another fire-style jutsu. Can you keep this up for the next one?" Mu Yue asked, a faint smile playing on his lips.
The previous fire jutsu had been impressive, but it wasn't Mu Yue's full strength. Opportunities like this to test the limits of his skills didn't come by often, and he was determined to make the most of it.
As he spoke, Mu Yue quietly activated his Ban Mode, entering the Flame Breath Chakra Mode.
Mu Yue's breathing pattern abruptly changed, and a surge of chakra erupted within his body, synergizing with his breathing technique to enhance his fire-attribute chakra. His aura intensified rapidly.
"Is this guy a monster?"
Sensing the intense heat and power emanating from Mu Yue, Hanyou Hyouga's expression shifted rapidly. This wasn't a mere encounter with a talented ninja; he was facing a force of nature!
