Chapter 346: Hydra Spy (First Update)
Chapter 346: Hydra Spy (First Update)
In the box space, Jerry woke up the more than twenty captured enemies one by one, then began to interrogate them using the Imperius Curse, Cruciatus Curse, Legilimency, and Veritaserum.
In fact, not everyone had such strong willpower. Among the twenty-odd people, most didn't even need the Cruciatus Curse or Veritaserum; a single Imperius Curse was enough to extract all the information.
However, to his surprise, all of these people turned out to be S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. They had received orders from their superiors to capture Has, Teacher Berry, and Aisha.
They had no idea that these three were Witch's family members, nor did they know Witch's true identity.
All they knew was that one of the three might possess dangerous superpowers. The stone statues and other phenomena they had witnessed were attributed to the superpowered individuals in the house.
"Strange, this shouldn't be the case!"
He had just visited S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters recently, and Egg Man didn't seem to dare to act against him. Could it be because he refused to join the S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy?
After a moment of thought, he decided to continue the interrogation, tracing up the chain of command one by one.
If it turned out that Egg Man had indeed given the order, he would have to consider whether to humanely destroy the entire S.H.I.E.L.D. leadership.
Although, considering the presence of Odin and the Ancient One, as well as his need to maintain his image, he had always been cautious in his actions, avoiding anything that would tarnish his reputation and refraining from unnecessary killing.
But now, with his family's safety threatened, a counterattack was justified. At worst, he would only eliminate the decision-makers involved in this operation, sparing the innocent agents below.
However, he also suspected that it might not be Egg Man at all, but perhaps some ambitious individuals within S.H.I.E.L.D.
S.H.I.E.L.D., as a global, powerful armed organization, involved the interests of too many people. It was impossible for everyone to be on the same page; there were bound to be internal conflicts and power struggles.
This was one of the reasons he didn't fully trust S.H.I.E.L.D.
He could trust Iron Man, Captain America, or even Coulson, as individuals whose character and personality were known and generally stable. But he couldn't trust an entire organization.
An organization, a group, is composed of countless individuals. Who could possibly know and trust everyone within it? Who could guarantee that no bad apples would appear?
Therefore, entrusting his trust to a group of people was the least reliable choice.
"Soul Out of Body!"
Jerry continued his interrogation with the Imperius Curse on the next individual.
A moment later.
"Hmm, this guy is a bit more resilient!"
When Jerry woke up the Captain who had led the team into the villa and used the Imperius Curse, it failed for the first time.
"Even if you are innocent, I still have to apologize."
Seeing the Imperius Curse fail for the first time, he prepared to use the Cruciatus Curse to break the other's will before trying the Imperius Curse again.
If that didn't work, he would resort to Veritaserum; even the strongest will would be futile.
However, before he could use the Cruciatus Curse, the man clenched his teeth and began to foam at the mouth.
"This is... taking poison? How tough."
Jerry's reaction was not one of shock but rather joy. This unexpected situation indicated that the person's mind definitely held valuable information. Otherwise, like other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, once captured, they would not have shown any signs of attempting suicide.
Moreover, a regular S.H.I.E.L.D. agent on a capture mission wouldn't hide a lethal poison in their teeth.
"High-grade antidote, come to me!"
With a gesture towards the mini mansion, a bottle of high-grade antidote potion, which he had personally brewed, flew out of the window and into his hand.
"Thinking of suicide? Not so easy!"
Jerry sneered, pulled the cork from the bottle, and forced the potion down the Captain's throat.
It didn't matter that he had the antidote; even if the Captain had been truly poisoned to death, Jerry could still use the Soul Sucking Spell to extract the soul and slowly retrieve the memories.
In just three seconds, the Captain, who had been foaming at the mouth and on the brink of death, returned to normal.
"You won't get any information from me!"
Surprised to find himself still alive, the Captain looked at the smiling Jerry with determination.
"That's not up to you."
Jerry pulled out a vial of Veritaserum he had prepared in advance but rarely used, and forced it down the Captain's throat.
"What's your name?"
"Kiru Yamashita."
The Captain, shocked by his own words, obediently answered Jerry's question.
"Tell me about your organization and your mission this time."
"My organization is Hydra, and my mission this time was to secretly take away the family of Witch Jerry Carmen."
The Captain began to spill everything he knew.
"Hydra? Didn't they get taken down by Captain America during World War II? How are they still around, and even infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D.?"
The Hydra organization was well-documented in history books, and all records related to Captain America mentioned this organization.
According to his textbooks, the organization was dismantled by Captain America during World War II, and their leader, Red Skull, was believed to have died.
However, this S.H.I.E.L.D. team Captain was a Hydra spy, which was surprising to Jerry.
According to the Captain, he was brainwashed into becoming a loyal Hydra warrior by a Level 6 agent who served as his mentor when he first joined the S.H.I.E.L.D. field department.
This time, the Level 6 agent had used the pretext of capturing superpowered individuals to gather two S.H.I.E.L.D. teams to assist with the mission.
However, the Captain was unaware of how many Hydra spies were in S.H.I.E.L.D. or who they were, as only his superior knew.
"It seems that if we find that Level 6 agent, we can trace the real mastermind!"
With a plan in mind, Jerry immediately left the box space and wrote down the name of the Level 6 agent the Captain had provided. He then handed the note to the owl he had brought out of the box space.
He wasn't worried about the Level 6 agent using a fake name, as the owl's ability to deliver messages ensured it could find the recipient's location, regardless of whether the name was fake or if there were others with the same name.
After casting a Disillusionment Charm on himself and the owl, they flew off in the direction of the Level 6 agent.
