Chapter 345: South Park Arc (12)
Chapter 345: South Park Arc (12)
"Hey… are all of these really…?" Feng Bu Jue already had a theory, but the conclusion felt too despair-inducing. Still clinging to a sliver of hope, he sought confirmation from R2.
"Yes, they're all derivative beings of the Origin Organization", R2 replied. "But don't worry too much. The Sandbox only hosts level-3 and level-4 derivatives. Right now, all the level-3s have left—these are just level-4s."
"Even if they're all level-4s…" Feng Bu Jue frowned, "there are so many of them."
"This is only a small part", R2 said. "The South Park world includes the entire Earth, plus Hell, Heaven, the Fantasy Continent, and some extraterrestrial planets with sentient life forms. In theory, every location within the Sandbox can host derivative beings."
"Oh, just say I'm doomed already", Feng Bu Jue said calmly.
"Hmm…" R2 paused for several seconds. "Indeed… even under my protection, your data integrity has a high probability of being terminated."
As they spoke, dozens of Origin Organization's derivative beings had already begun surrounding them.
Level-4 derivatives naturally possessed intelligence only slightly higher than typical scenario bosses—roughly equivalent to Terminator-like autonomous machines. Within the Origin Organization's Sandbox, their behavior patterns weren't necessarily fixed, but their purpose was singular: to destroy any data that wasn't fellow derivatives.
If they were vultures, Feng Bu Jue's unique data signature was like fresh carrion—visible from far away, drawing swarms of predators.
"Here", R2 said, unfazed by the approaching enemies. "I'll give you two skills for self-defense."
Feng Bu Jue blinked. "Can you create skill cards out of thin air?"
"Of course not", R2 replied, extending a finger to gently press against Feng Bu Jue's forehead. "But I can directly indoctrinate skill data into you."
Three seconds later, R2 withdrew their hand. "Done."
Feng Bu Jue hadn't felt anything, nor noticed any anomalies like glowing lights. "That's it?" he muttered, opening his game menu. To his surprise, two new skills had indeed appeared in his skill slots.
The first was a mobility technique categorized under martial arts proficiency:
Name: Moon Step
Skill Card Attribute: Active Skill, Permanently Mastered
Skill Category: Martial Arts
Effect: Tread on Air (No Cooldown)
Consumption: Stamina Value 15
Learning Condition: Martial Arts Proficiency C
Background: Utilizes extreme foot strength to generate air resistance, allowing mid-air directional changes and even upward climbs as if stepping on invisible stairs.
The second was a pure martial arts technique:
Name: Storm Leg
Skill Card Attribute: Active Skill, Permanently Mastered
Skill Category: Martial Arts
Effect: Ranged Slash (No Cooldown)
Consumption: Stamina Value 150
Learning Condition: Martial Arts Proficiency C
Background: Vacuum slash created by high-speed kicks, producing cutting winds.
"These are practical skills compatible with your data strength and no cooldown", R2 explained. "With these two moves, you should be able to—"
"Any more?" Feng Bu Jue interrupted immediately.
He couldn't miss this opportunity—free skills perfectly suited to him, infinitely more efficient than drawing random skill cards.
"More complex abilities wouldn't sync with your data", R2 replied. "That means I can't indoctrinate skills you haven't met the learning conditions for."
"Exactly", R2 confirmed. "Even lower-tier skills would be acceptable—I'll take those too."
Meanwhile, the leading level-4 derivatives had approached within three meters of R2. As R2 turned toward the arch-shaped opening, they casually side-kicked. A surge of power like a tiger bursting from its cage exploded from the arch, obliterating the foremost derivative into fragments. The two behind it lost half their bodies each, collapsing as their deformed figures dissolved into data fragments.
"Er… isn't this killing your own kind problematic?" Feng Bu Jue asked—a habit of his to consider others' perspectives.
"I already told you", R2 replied calmly, "My position differs from the Origin Organization. This is war. Besides…" They paused, glancing back at Feng Bu Jue. "As a human, shouldn't you feel ashamed asking such a question? In your dimension, humans are among the few species that systematically destroy their own kind. Your history is war; you kill each other for desire, to vent aggression, or even just for fun. Isn't slaughter the most common theme in your leisure games?"
"Alright, alright, I take it back…" Feng Bu Jue truly hadn't expected to get repeatedly outmaneuvered in logic by a non-human sentient being.
"Follow me out of here", R2 said, walking toward the exit. "We'll talk when we reach a safer area."
Whoosh—
Suddenly, a fuel tanker soared downward from midair toward R2's position.
Five level-4 derivatives had combined strength to hurl the massive vehicle. After witnessing their three comrades' demise in close combat, they'd switched to ranged tactics.
The dark shadow expanded in R2's pupils, signaling the tanker's approach. Even if the impact didn't kill R2, the Origin Organization's derivatives would immediately unleash ranged attacks to trigger an explosion.
"Apologies", R2 suddenly said.
Feng Bu Jue's heart lurched—he realized this was directed at him.
Before his body could react, R2 grabbed Feng Bu Jue's collar and yanked him backward out of the shopping mall entrance. In less than half a second, R2 hurled him upward with terrifying strength.
Feng Bu Jue shot skyward like a skyrocket. Hadn't R2 just taught him 【Moon Step】, he'd truly question their intentions.
Propelled straight up along the mall's front wall, Feng Bu Jue barely avoided the tanker reaching its parabolic apex.
Boom—
R2 took the direct hit. But before the explosion fully erupted, several Origin Organization derivatives with weapons or ranged skills opened fire at the tanker.
