Chapter 343: If We Can Steal, Why Buy?
Chapter 343: If We Can Steal, Why Buy?
In the previous exchange, Walker had already confirmed the identity of his opponents. After all, the extraordinary recovery ability and vitality of Werewolves were impossible to fake.
This was precisely why Walker was so puzzled. In his view, Ivan had developed the Wolfsbane Potion and advocated for the magical community to eliminate discrimination against Werewolves in the Daily Prophet. This made him a savior to all Werewolf Wizards.
These people didn’t show gratitude, but why would they repay kindness with enmity and attack Ivan’s magic shop?
While Walker was interrogating the Death Eater, he didn’t notice that their battle had shattered a nearby glass case.
A long, bloodstained noose fell to the ground near his feet.
The noose, though uncontrolled, coiled up like a silent snake, and before Walker could react, it tightly wrapped around his neck.
The situation took a sudden turn for the worse. Walker’s face turned ashen, and he released the Death Eater he had been restraining, desperately trying to pull the noose off his neck.
But the noose was too tight. Even with the increased strength of a Werewolf, Walker couldn’t budge it.
The Death Eater took the opportunity to kick Walker into the corner, quickly stood up, and picked up his fallen Wand. He then looked back at Walker with a cold sneer.
“Didn’t you ask why we attacked? Of course, it’s for the Wolfsbane Potion!”
Walker, bound and unable to speak, stared at the Death Eater with confusion.
Wolfsbane Potion? He remembered that Ivan had never prevented other Werewolf Wizards from purchasing this potion. Considering their unique condition, he had set a relatively low price.
With hard work, they shouldn’t be unable to afford a bottle of potion each month.
“Since we can steal, why buy?” The Death Eater saw through Walker’s naive thoughts and said with disdain.
Ten Galleons a month is no small amount. It would be better to find a way to get the recipe for the Wolfsbane Potion and brew it ourselves, or maybe even make a fortune by selling it to other Werewolves!
Walker was furious at the words of the Werewolf in front of him, but he was helpless, could only glare with wide eyes, and couldn’t move.
The Death Eater didn’t want to waste any more time and raised his Wand to point at Walker.
In fact, he was very interested in how Walker could freely transform into a Werewolf. According to his knowledge, only the Werewolf leader, Fenrir Greyback, could transform into a Werewolf without a full moon.
However, the situation was dire. The sounds of fighting from other areas had stopped, and he knew the current state of the battlefield.
After Aisha and others appeared, Brock had no chance of winning. If it weren’t for this Werewolf brat’s insistence onentanglement, he would have fled long ago.
Spitting out a curse, the Death Eater pointed his Wand at Walker and cast a spell.
“Goodbye, boy! Avada Kedavra!”
A dark green light flickered at the tip of the Wand. Walker’s pupils constricted. The Protective Ring given to him by Ivan couldn’t defend against a killing curse.
At the same moment, a young female voice rang out.
“Stupefy!”
A red light struck the Death Eater on his back, knocking him unconscious. The green light of the killing curse deflected and grazed Walker’s body, striking the ground and creating a crater.
Walker’s forehead was drenched in cold sweat as his large wolf eyes scanned the surroundings, trying to see who had saved him. Most importantly, he needed someone to help him remove the troublesome noose around his neck.
From a dark corner, a brown-haired Young Witch emerged from the void.
After putting away the Invisibility Cloak, Hermione looked at the terrifying wolf-like form of Walker, feeling a bit frightened but forcing herself to remain calm as she said, "How should I help you?"
Walker pointed at the noose around his neck, his throat constricted, making it impossible for him to speak.
Hermione tried casting a spell, using the Sectumsempra to cut one end of the rope on the ground. In her mind, all she needed to do was destroy this magical item, and Walker would be saved.
Unfortunately, magical items were not that easy to destroy. Even the Sectumsempra only managed to leave a few fine scratches.
Walker’s eyes rolled back as he began to lose consciousness, his mind growing hazy. Just then, a strange flame landed on the rope, burning it into two pieces.
The pressure on his neck eased, and Walker quickly pulled the noose off and threw it to the ground. The strange flame continued to burn along the rope, quickly reducing the magical item to ashes.
Hermione turned to look behind her, knowing that the strange flame was not her doing.
Ivan emerged from the darkness, helping Walker to his feet and patting his furry shoulder as he asked, "Walker, are you okay?"
"I’m fine, thanks to Miss Granger for saving my life!" Walker’s large wolf face showed a look of lingering fear. He had almost been killed by that Death Eater just moments ago.
Ivan then turned to look at the Young Witch, saying somewhat helplessly, "Hermione, what are you doing here? Didn’t I tell you to stay outside with the Invisibility Cloak?"
The plan to attack Borgin and Burkes was too dangerous, and Ivan did not want Hermione to be involved. At the same time, he was a bit worried about her staying alone in the mansion, so he had her wait at a temporary hideout outside.
"I thought you were done fighting, so I came in to check", Hermione stuck out her tongue. She had been listening to the explosions and screams from outside, feeling very anxious, afraid that something might happen to Ivan and the others.
When she noticed that the commotion inside Borgin and Burkes had died down, Hermione put on the Invisibility Cloak and came in to check the situation, just in time to see the Death Eater about to kill Walker.
Although Walker had already transformed into his werewolf form, Ivan had told her that the black-robed Wizards were the enemy, so Hermione struck and stunned the Death Eater.
Hearing Hermione’s explanation, Ivan felt a wave of relief. If she hadn’t arrived by chance, Walker would likely be dead by now.
"Thanks a lot, Hermione!" Ivan said gratefully.
"It’s good to be of help", Hermione shook her head.
Walker slowly transformed back into his human form, looking somewhat dejected. Ivan thought he was feeling down because he had lost the fight to the Death Eater and almost died, so he offered a few words of comfort.
Those Death Eaters were strong to begin with, and the place was full of dangerous dark magical items. It was normal to lose if you weren’t careful.
