Chapter 340: You're Quite Famous
Chapter 340: You're Quite Famous
"Good morning, Nia."
Hebe opened the door and stepped aside with a smile, welcoming her daughter who was standing outside.
"Albert asked me to come and wake you up after eight," Nia pouted a little grumpily. "He always treats me like a little kid who needs looking after."
"You are a kid," Daisy kissed her daughter's forehead and asked with a smile, "Where's Albert?"
"He took Tom for a walk," Nia complained. "He said he wanted to find a quiet place."
Nia was feeling frustrated. In her family's eyes, she would always be the child who never grew up. Yet, at Albert's age, her family had already trusted him with a lot more responsibility.
"Now, now," Hebe comforted her daughter, sensing her mood. "Once you start middle school, no one will treat you like a kid anymore."
"But I want to go to Hogwarts," Nia said.
"For that, you'll need to receive an acceptance letter from Hogwarts first," Daisy consoled her. "Don't worry, it's still early in the month, and Albert hasn't received any owl post from Hogwarts either."
Daisy didn't believe her daughter was a witch. Nia had never displayed any unusual abilities, and she trusted her son's judgment on the matter.
After all, a wizard would know another wizard! In truth, neither Daisy nor Hebe wanted Nia to be a witch. Even though it had only been two years, they had both noticed a slight distance growing between them and Albert.
The values and worldview of the two worlds were inevitably different. As Albert fully immersed himself in the wizarding world, his connection with them would gradually fade, perhaps even severing completely.
"Albert can tell you all about the wizarding world!" Hebe took Nia's hand and said, "Let's go downstairs for breakfast. The French food here is truly amazing." He caught the disapproving glance from his wife and quickly changed the subject. "By the way, did Albert say when he would be back?"
"No, he's been gone for about half an hour now," Nia said, looking out the window, deciding that she would ask Albert to teach her skiing later.
At that moment, in the woods north of the resort, Albert watched Tom frolicking excitedly, his face filled with helplessness. This fat cat, with all his blubber, seemed impervious to the cold.
"Tom, don't run off. If you get lost, I'm not going to look for you," Albert took a few steps forward, intending to grab the cat's leash and restrain him.
Unexpectedly, the chubby cat darted away, faster than he anticipated, and managed to slip out of his grasp.
Before long, Tom returned on his own, as if he had encountered something terrifying. He tried to hide behind Albert's legs, but his plump body was too big to be concealed, eliciting a burst of laughter from Albert.
"Hmm, I didn't expect you to be such a scaredy-cat," Albert scooped up the fat cat and looked up at the nearby traveler, his eyebrows furrowed in surprise.
Who would be skiing in the forest? Were they seeking thrills?
The skier stopped not far from Albert, took off her goggles, and turned to look at him, as if she had seen something intriguing. Suddenly, she froze, her expression turning strange as she stared at him.
Albert returned her gaze, his eyebrows knitting together in confusion. He hadn't expected to encounter anyone else here, and the way this person was looking at him... It was peculiar.
She was a very beautiful woman, and Albert suspected she was the same woman he had seen the night before—the one who appeared to have Veela ancestry. He had no intention of getting entangled with her and prepared to head back to the inn for breakfast with Tom.
"Sorry, I seem to have startled your cat, Mr. Anderson," the young woman's tone was refined, as if they had known each other for a long time.
"Do I know you?" Albert halted, narrowing his eyes at the woman before him. He didn't recall ever meeting her.
"We haven't met, but I've heard your name before. You see, you're quite famous, Mr. Albert Anderson," she smiled confidently and introduced herself, "I'm Louise Drakul. It's a pleasure to meet you here."
"I'm famous?" Albert frowned, the surname 'Drakul' ringing a bell.
"Are you the helpful Mr. Drakul's niece that Mr. Claude mentioned?" Albert raised an eyebrow and asked.
"The helpful Mr. Drakul you mentioned is my uncle," Louise Drakul smiled. "Uncle Claude once told Uncle Drakul about you, and I happened to be visiting their home at the time, so I got to witness his memories as well. Uncle Claude thinks highly of you and believes you're a genius who will become an extraordinary wizard."
Louise Drakul surveyed Albert up and down, nodding in agreement, "Uncle Claude's assessment was correct. You are indeed remarkable, figuring out who I am so quickly. By the way, your French is impeccable as well."
Being able to identify her so swiftly had impressed Louise Drakul, and she acknowledged that his French was indeed fluent. At least, she didn't think she could master a foreign language to such a high standard.
"Welcome to France!"
In that moment, Albert felt a sense of dizziness, and the Louise Drakul before him became irresistibly enchanting.
"I heard there's a magic school in France as well," Albert averted his gaze from Louise Drakul, steering the conversation away from himself.
He always felt awkward talking about himself.
"Beauxbatons Academy of Magic!" Louise said cheerfully, "That's where I study. Beauxbatons is a beautiful school, and I've heard that Hogwarts in England also has a long history."
"Yes, it's also a school with a rich heritage," Albert took out his pocket watch to check the time and offered an apologetic smile. "I should head back now, or my family will worry. We can chat another day. Oh, and you might want to tone down your allure a bit. I heard several couples broke up last night because of it."
Albert turned and walked away, cradling Tom in his arms.
"What an unlovable guy!" Louise watched Albert's retreating figure, a smile tugging at her lips. She had indeed released a bit of her allure to tease the genius, but it seemed her usually irresistible charm had failed to affect him.
What a pity! "Drakul?" Albert muttered to himself. The Veela lineage was truly overpowered, inheriting only the strengths of their Veela ancestors without any of their weaknesses.
Albert conceded that Louise was indeed a captivating woman, but he decided to keep his distance from her to avoid any potential embarrassment in the future.
Those unfortunate gentlemen still entangled in the aftermath of their girlfriends' sudden breakups could blame her mischievous whims.
