Chapter 340: Captain Nalgah, the World Government Will Surely Rescue You!
Chapter 340: Captain Nalgah, the World Government Will Surely Rescue You!
Distant shouts echoed through the air.
A dense crowd of people armed with weapons surged toward the battlefield.
As the crumbling walls collapsed, Klah approached Kuro's side.
"Mr. Kuro, many people are coming. They're soldiers from Insect Country's army", Klah reported.
"I see."
Kuro glanced toward the approaching force. Leading the soldiers was a pale man wearing a black feathered coat and a sinister bird-faced mask.
The Revolutionary Army had allied with the local troops.
Before Kuro could speak, a black-cloaked figure suddenly appeared nearby.
"Commander Kuro! Stop them! The Revolutionary Army is inciting rebellion—hurry and stop them!"
It was Nalgah, who'd seemingly materialized from nowhere. His body bore fresh wounds, evidence of recent combat.
For him to survive unscathed was surprising indeed.
Without a word, Kuro stepped forward and kicked aside a mound of flesh scattered across the ground. His five fingers clenched, and the falling rain abruptly coalesced. Like a living entity, the water enveloped the flesh, forming a massive floating sphere.
Boom!
The earth beneath them trembled and shattered, creating a vast crater at the center of the battlefield.
Soil and rock fragments lifted into the air, merging with the water sphere until it transformed into a colossal stone ball.
"Take this!"
With a sweep of Kuro's arm, the boulder hurtled toward the sea at lightning speed, soon becoming a mere wisp of a meteor streaking across the sky.
Traveling this trajectory would carry it to the remote waters of the Grand Line before crashing into the ocean depths.
After this display, Kuro turned to Nalgah with feigned innocence. "Oh, Captain Nalgah."
He glanced at the charging soldiers and shook his head. "You overestimate me. I'm merely a Navy Commander—how could I possibly fight so many soldiers? Besides, war isn't the Navy's responsibility. We should report this to the World Government for their decision."
Nalgah stared at Kuro's absurd rhetoric, still stunned by the earlier spectacle of the floating stone sphere.
Aren'T You The One Who Just Launched That Ball?!
With A Single Strike, You Could Have Crushed These Tens OF Thousands OF Men IN Seconds!
"Lucius Kro!"
Nalgah barked, "Do you understand what defiance of the World Government's orders means? Don't destroy yourself over this!"
Kuro rolled his eyes, pinching a cigar between two fingers to tap off its ash. Exhaling a plume of smoke, he turned to leave.
"If you've got complaints, take them to the World Government yourself."
Without glancing back, he gestured, summoning his Navy subordinates to gather around.
"Your choice—come with me or stay here", Kuro addressed Ju Geng.
"Huh? Pork elbow or shrimp? Both are fine, but this really isn't mealtime, is it?" Ju Geng replied helplessly.
Kuro: "..."
"Forget it. Decide for yourself. If you change your mind, find me on Pegasus Island."
With a resigned wave, he dismissed the chef and proceeded toward his ship.
"Lida, would you like to bid farewell to your brother?" Kuro suddenly paused, glancing at the fallen Luo Wei who still radiated faint aura.
"No need", Lida shook her head. "I'm Flo Lida—forever a member of the Navy, never a Luo Family member."
Kuro studied her, then ruffled her hair with a chuckle. "Good. Then you'll always be Navy. Klah, organize the retreat. We're leaving."
Staying here would only sink them deeper into a quagmire. The Navy and Revolutionary Army had no direct conflict yet.
Even the crowding crowd exhaled in relief as they watched Kuro's ship depart. Though they'd reported to Dragon, they had no intention of fighting him directly.
Better to withdraw than provoke unnecessary bloodshed.
"Unforgivable!!"
Nalgah cursed, forced to retreat as the enemy surged forward. Activating his Moonstep, he ascended into the sky toward Kuro's warship.
Suddenly, Kuro's hand clenched.
Boom!
A towering wave erupted, slamming into Nalgah midair. The force sent him crashing into the port, directly into the crowding soldiers.
"Oh dear, Captain Nalgah's luck has turned poor. A wave knocked him down—hurry, open fire and try rescuing him!" Kuro casually ordered from his departing ship.
Cannonfire Roared as broadsides erupted. Yet by some universal law, the cannonballs either splashed into water or struck distant earth, leaving only craters.
By now, the soldiers surrounded Nalgah, their blades and spears capturing him.
"Unforgivable!!"
Kuro pounded the ship's railing, roaring, "You Revolutionary dogs—just wait! The World Government won't let this stand!"
As the ship receded, he bellowed, "Captain Nalgah, endure! The World Government Will rescue you!"
Turning away, his fury dissolved into calm. Drawing on his cigar, he leaned against the rail. "Finally damned done."
"Mr. Kuro", Klah adjusted his glasses, "was that truly wise?"
"Let the Revolutionary Army handle explanations. I'll interpret events however I like. Besides, how could a lowly Commander like me possibly defeat such a colossus? I must follow protocol—when I say I can't do something, I really can't."
If Nalgah survived? Let him file complaints.
"Removing Lida's burden and collecting complaints from those I expelled—two birds with one stone."
Kuro secretly hoped the World Government would demote him. That would be ideal.
