Chapter 34
Chapter 34
Unova Region.
The dark night sky, cloaked in a veil of mist, carried a chilling and eerie atmosphere, as if concealing a massive secret. The sudden flashes of thunder, however, seemed to pierce through the darkness like divine messengers, bearing a sacred mission.
A bolt of white light flashed across the sky, resembling a sharp sword slicing through the night.
At the end of the shining thunder, a faint, flickering figure emerged, seemingly dispelling all the darkness. But as the lightning faded, it was replaced by an even deeper darkness, accompanied by a drizzle of rain and a howling cold wind. They wove together with the heavy night sky, forming an impenetrable web.
The shadow of the castle's dome fell like a sharp blade, casting a silhouette on a young man.
He was perched on the railing at the edge of the castle, his cap pulled down over his head, revealing a cascade of long, emerald-green hair that fluttered in the wind. He wore a beige short-sleeved shirt and had a Rubik's cube hanging from his waist.
The howling cold wind blew against him, and the fine raindrops touched his face. He pressed his cap down, his lifeless, calm eyes gazing into the endless distance.
"Whoo~~"
Whether it was because of the cold wind or the rain, the Electabuzz curled up beside him stood up and moved closer, offering a bit of warmth.
The young man's gaze gradually focused, and he felt the concern of his companion. He smiled gently and stroked the Electabuzz.
"Whoo—"
The Electabuzz was delighted by the boy's response and nuzzled his cheek, eliciting an even warmer smile from him.
Holding the Electabuzz, the young man looked down at his phone.
Even if you don't say it, I will do it.
But...
"Hero...?"
A glimmer of starlight appeared in his green eyes.
At that moment,
"N, it's time to learn etiquette."
A deep, heavy voice echoed from inside the castle.
"Whoo"
The Electabuzz could sense N's reluctance and let out a low whine.
But N just patted it gently, signaling that he was fine. Unbeknownst to him, the light in his eyes, which once shone like the stars, dimmed again, like a stagnant pool.
"I'm coming."
In the Hoenn Region, Littleroot Town.
Thanks to the timely intervention, the incident at Mt. Chimney the previous night was known to only a few people. Although Mewtwo had informed the accompanying teachers at the academy, only a handful, like Mr. Duff, were aware.
Thus, the autumn excursion schedule proceeded as planned the next day.
With a large number of participants, each class was assigned a different area on Mt. Chimney for a wilderness adventure.
The first-year Combat Class, being the strongest class, was assigned to the most "dangerous" area.
Of course, the so-called "adventure" was actually quite safe under the teachers' protection, making it feel more like a regular autumn trip.
However, the academy's goal was to help students adapt to the wilderness environment, with future excursions designed to truly challenge them.
On a slope of Mt. Chimney, the first-year Combat Class was taking a break.
Since there was no real pressure, the students gathered in small groups of three or four, chatting and laughing, looking very relaxed.
Jing He was sitting on a rock, looking helplessly at the Gastly in front of him.
"I told you, it was Nurse Joy who used the equipment to extract the Poison Barb. Trying to remove it without the proper tools would have caused further harm to the Ponyta."
Jing He emphasized the word "really."
"Kye?"
The Gastly tilted its head, giving him a skeptical look.
Why did you throw away your gloves yesterday?
"Shouldn't gloves that have touched a Poison Barb be thrown away?" Jing He countered.
The Gastly looked hesitant.
"Kakuna?"
Really?
"If you don't want it, give it to me, and I'll return it to Dianthus."
Jing He extended his hand, and the Gastly huffed.
No matter how it got here, I've already licked it, so it's mine now! The Gastly stood firm, its head held high.
Jing He smiled at the sight.
Fine, next time I'll get you some "Toxic Sludge."
"Classmates, let's have a battle!"
At that moment, a somewhat otaku-looking teenager stood up, holding a Poke Ball and loudly suggested.
Surprisingly, several others responded.
Thus, an intense classroom battle began.
"Teacher Jing He."
At the same time, the always combative Yasha approached.
"Hm?"
Looking up, he saw her with a hint of nervousness. She bit her lip and quickly shoved a thin book into his hands before running off.
"This is from my grandfather. He said it's a thank you gift."
"Kakuna?"
The Gastly poked its head over.
Ghostly Flame Insights
Is this for me too? Thinking this, the Gastly extended its tongue.
"Stop!" Jing He shouted in time. "This is a book, not food, and definitely not a 'Poison Barb.'"
Fortunately, he pulled the book away just in time to avoid being "contaminated" by the Gastly.
The Gastly chuckled awkwardly.
I just wanted to taste it. I just wanted to check if it's real.
Jing He rolled his eyes and flipped through the book, browsing it briefly.
This handwritten insight was different from a "Move Recorder." It contained the thoughts and understanding of a Trainer and their Pokemon regarding a particular move. How much one could learn from it depended on the Trainer and Pokemon's insight.
Yasha's grandfather, Mura, was the former Fire-type Elite Four member of the Hoenn region. His expertise in training Fire-type Pokemon was renowned throughout the Pokemon world.
"Ghostly Flame" was a Fire-type move, and Mura's understanding and knowledge of it were undoubtedly far deeper than Jing He's and the Gastly's.
Flipping to the first page.
"Ghostly Flame is fire. It should be called 'Deceptive Flame' rather than 'Ghostly Flame.'"
"Nine-tail's tail fur, Chingling's lamp wick flame, and Galarian Cubone's bone powder..."
Reading these materials, Jing He's forehead twitched.
According to the insight, these materials could help Pokemon better master the "Ghostly Flame" move.
But as he continued reading, it seemed to veer further from the "right path."
Especially the last item.
Flareon's X-sac!
Is this a serious insight?
Did the old man really try this?
However, the Gastly's eyes gleamed with excitement, eager to try it out.
Jing He hurriedly flipped to the next pages.
Fortunately, the content gradually normalized, detailing some techniques and experiences for using "Ghostly Flame." He gained a lot from it.
After a quick read, he had a new understanding of how to train the Gastly to use "Ghostly Flame."
'Once this stage of training is complete, perhaps I can register the Gastly as a Trainer with the League.'
Jing He thought, then looked up to hear.
"Armaldo, Wing Attack!"
The silver-armored Armaldo soared through the air, its bright white wings striking the opponent and sending it flying.
He hadn't expected Dianthus to join the battle.
But with his strength, even in the first-year Battle Class, he should easily come out on top.
However,
Jing He narrowed his eyes.
"An Armaldo that has mastered these moves, using them like this, seems a bit 'wasteful.'"
Thank you to Zizai Xian, Shu You 20210211153400606, and Tian Hui SGrey for your generous support!
