Chapter 34: The Well-Behaved Hufflepuffs
Chapter 34: The Well-Behaved Hufflepuffs
"Rita Skeeter? The reporter from the Prophet Daily?" Fred asked, puzzled. "What does she have to do with this?"
George added from the side, "And we're not interested in her. She's destined to pine for someone."
"That's a shame," Kyle said, brushing off the topic as he squeezed past the two of them.
By now, lunch had started, and Kyle just wanted to sit and enjoy the tender steak and pumpkin juice, not stand like an idiot at the entrance of the Great Hall.
However, Fred and George had other ideas. They followed Kyle all the way to the Hufflepuff table.
"Although there's no evidence, I still feel like the Spellcraft classroom exploded because of you," Fred said, squeezing past Cedric to sit next to Kyle. He took a cup of pumpkin juice and gulped down a large mouthful before continuing, "Why else would something like this happen as soon as you arrived, and not before? It must be your influence."
Hearing this, Kyle felt a chill down his spine, almost choking on the pumpkin juice.
What did he do? He had been helping all along, right? Why did they insist on blaming him?
Kyle turned his head and flipped the bird without saying a word.
But Fred ignored the gesture and continued, "It's a pity you're not in Gryffindor."
"We asked," George said with a smile. "The first class for Gryffindor newcomers is Potions. If you were there, along with the cooperation of the newcomers, the one sent to the Hospital Wing might very well be Snape."
"Yeah, what a pity," Fred put down his pumpkin juice and sighed, "If we could really send Snape to the Hospital Wing, you would become the hero of not just Gryffindor... no, the entire Hogwarts!"
Fred's face, which had been full of regret a moment ago, suddenly lit up with excitement, and his whole body began to tremble.
In his excitement, Fred didn't even notice Cedric tugging at his robes from the side.
"Honestly, Kyle, I still think you don't belong in Hufflepuff. Gryffindor is your real home."
"Let's say you're right, but Fred, George..." Kyle cleared his throat and said with a smile, "Why do you think the Gryffindor newcomers would cooperate with me to deal with Professor Snape?"
"In my opinion, the young wizards of Gryffindor are all well-mannered and speak politely. The Headmaster is also kind, so they wouldn't be so... unrul..."
"What nonsense are you talking about, Kyle? Do well-behaved kids get sorted into Gryffindor?" Fred was taken aback, then raised his eyebrows and said, "Oh, right, we can't say that. We should say we just like adventure..."
"Then, Mr. Weasley, is this why you're not eating at your own House table?"
A cold, emotionless voice came from behind them.
The smiles on Fred and George's faces vanished, and they turned around with difficulty.
"Professor McGonagall, when did you get here..." Fred forced a smile that looked worse than crying and said, "I think there's been a misunderstanding. I can explain."
"There's no need, Mr. Weasley. I believe I understand what you're saying perfectly, and there's no misunderstanding."
And you should be grateful that it's me standing here and not Professor Snape."
Professor McGonagall's face was calm, and she seemed no different from usual. "Because you don't respect the professors, Gryffindor loses ten points, ten points each."
At least it's just a deduction.
Fred and George breathed a sigh of relief. It was only the beginning of the school year, and Gryffindor's hourglass still had plenty of points left, just twenty points, which was acceptable.
"Additionally..." Professor McGonagall glanced at the twins and continued, "Due to your poor performance at the Sorting ceremony, both of you will be in detention every night for the next week."
Fred and George felt like they had been struck by lightning.
The Sorting ceremony? They thought that matter was already in the past...
They didn't mind the point deduction, but detention was a different story, especially a week's worth, meaning they couldn't go out at night for seven whole days. This was like asking for their lives!
The two of them had already started to feel desperate.
"Professor, please..."
Fred and George looked at Professor McGonagall pitifully, hoping to awaken her compassion with this approach.
Unfortunately, Professor McGonagall didn't budge at all, and there wasn't even a hint of emotion in her voice:
"Detention starts at 11 p.m. Go find Filch, and he will take you to the Trophy Room. There's a register there that records the names and achievements of all the outstanding students in Gryffindor since its founding.
You need to transcribe this register in its entirety until you finish. Remember, each of you will do it once, and you are not allowed to use magic or quills. You must copy it all by hand."
After Professor McGonagall finished speaking, she pointed towards Gryffindor and said, "Now, Mr. Weasley, get back to your table quickly!"

Fred and George felt like they had been struck by lightning. They lowered their heads and quickly returned to Gryffindor's table, their faces filled with despair.
Kyle also lowered his head, barely holding back his laughter until the twins left. Then, as if nothing had happened, he turned and said, "Good afternoon, Professor McGonagall. It's a pleasure to see you here."
Professor McGonagall's voice finally showed a hint of emotion as she replied, "Good afternoon, Mr. Joba."
"Call me Kyle, Professor," Kyle smiled. "Have you had lunch yet? If not, you can eat here."
Cedric also reacted at this point, quickly moving to make room for Professor McGonagall.
Professor McGonagall's expression softened, and she said, "I'd be delighted to, but unfortunately, I've already eaten."
To maintain her dignified image, Professor McGonagall usually arrived at the Great Hall before mealtimes or stayed in her office, rarely dining with the young wizards.
"That's really unfortunate," Kyle sighed softly, and the other badgers also pretended to look disappointed, as if they genuinely wanted to have lunch with Professor McGonagall.
Everyone was well-behaved.
Professor McGonagall looked at this scene and then glanced at the chaotic Gryffindor table next door, feeling a sense of exhaustion.
Indeed, there was no harm without comparison. Why were all the well-behaved students in other houses, especially Kyle and Cedric? Even having one of them in Gryffindor would be nice.
That damn Sorting Hat...
