Chapter 34: Bold and Elegant Jerry
Chapter 34: Bold and Elegant Jerry
"Damn, at this point, I can only take it one step at a time!"
All these analyses were Jerry's own deductions based on the results. He couldn't be entirely sure if they were true.
After all, logically speaking, the Sorting Hat's sorting is supposed to follow the deepest desires of the young wizard's heart, and he had clearly wanted to be in Gryffindor.
Could it be that deep down, he actually wanted to be in Slytherin?
Forget it, there's no point in agonizing over this now. Since he's been sorted into Slytherin, he might as well embrace his new identity and focus on learning magic at Hogwarts.
He looked up at Professor Mcgonagall, who had been quite friendly with him before.
Then he glanced at the long table where Professor Snape, who looked like a big bat, sat with a grim, stern, cold, and harsh demeanor. Jerry couldn't help but sigh once more.
Plans never keep up with changes!
The entire strategy he had devised for Gryffindor was now useless. He had to start thinking again and come up with a new plan for Slytherin.
But upon further reflection, being a Slytherin wasn't entirely a bad thing.
At least Snape, despite being cruel and harsh to wizards from other houses, especially Gryffindor, was very friendly to the young wizards in his own house.
Moreover, Snape was an expert in Dark Magic. If he could get on Snape's good side, he might have the chance to learn some powerful Dark Magic.
"Harry Potter, Gryffindor!"
At that moment, the famous Harry, after a brief conversation with the Sorting Hat, was destined to be sorted into Gryffindor, marking the official end of the Sorting Ceremony.
"Draco, I didn't expect you to be in Slytherin too. We must be destined to be friends!"
Jerry, snapping back to reality, noticed Draco Malfoy and his cronies sitting far away from him. His eyes flickered, and he immediately walked over, squeezing himself between them and enthusiastically draping his arms over their shoulders.
"Destiny indeed..."
(There's no way a guy like you could be a Slytherin!)
Draco Malfoy's body stiffened, and he forced a smile, his face twitching.
When he saw Jerry being sorted into Slytherin, he almost burst into profanity on the spot.
He couldn't understand why a rude and uncouth brute like Jerry could be sorted into the noble and elegant Slytherin.
However, considering Jerry's impressive fighting skills on the train, where he had taken on three of them and won, Draco had to suppress his anger after the Sorting Ceremony and sit as far away from Jerry as possible with Goyle and Crabbe.
A gentleman takes his revenge after ten years. Physical fighting isn't the way of an elegant Slytherin wizard. Once he learned enough magic, he would make Jerry understand the consequences of angering a noble Malfoy.
"Draco, you all seem to get along well!"
At that moment, a short-haired witch sitting opposite Malfoy looked at Jerry, Malfoy, and the others, her eyes widening in surprise.
"Of course! Draco, Goyle, and Crabbe and I met on the train, and we immediately became good friends, didn't we?"
Jerry narrowed his eyes and applied a little more pressure to the arms he had draped over Malfoy and Goyle.
Seemingly recalling some unpleasant memories, the three of them shuddered simultaneously and then reluctantly nodded.
"Hello, I'm Jerry Carmen!"
"Pansy Parkinson!"
Jerry removed his right hand from Goyle's shoulder and extended it toward Pansy.
Pansy hesitated for a moment but then reciprocated, lightly shaking Jerry's hand.
Given Malfoy's pride, the friends he chose were bound to be exceptionally talented pure-blood wizards. However, he had never heard of the name Jerry Carmen before.
"The banquet begins!"
At that moment, Headmaster Dumbledore, who was seated at the center of the staff table, rose and announced loudly.
As Dumbledore's voice faded, Jerry noticed that the golden plates in front of him, which had been empty, were suddenly filled with various steaming, aromatic dishes:
roast beef, roasted chicken, pork chops, lamb cutlets, sausages, steaks, and more.
The silver goblets were also filled with different beverages, such as fruit juice and milk.
"Looks like I'll need to spend some time learning cooking magic in the future!"
Seeing the food materialize before his eyes, Jerry's eyes lit up, and he immediately decided to add cooking magic to his list of magical studies.
Learning cooking magic would greatly reduce the time he spent preparing meals when he returned to the Main World.
And, of course, he couldn't forget the household management spells!
While planning the various types of magic he wanted to learn, Jerry didn't stop moving. Like the other hungry young wizards, his stomach had been growling for quite some time.
Perhaps it was the hunger, or perhaps the house-elves' cooking magic was truly exceptional, but he found the food on the table particularly delicious today.
"Pansy, it's been a while. You've cut your hair short."
While Jerry was eating, Malfoy pretended to chat with Pansy and subtly moved his position.
"Draco, you actually noticed. Do you like it?"
Pansy's face turned slightly red.
"Um, it looks very nice!"
Jerry glanced over and saw Draco Malfoy moving away from him. He smiled inwardly but didn't stop him.
His goal had been achieved, and it no longer mattered whether Draco Malfoy sat next to him or not.
"Ah...!"
Just as he was halfway through a piece of steak, Jerry heard the young wizards' screams.
Looking up, he saw a few of his fellow first-year Slytherins staring in horror at his side.
Turning his head in confusion, he saw a gaunt, hollow-eyed, and terrifying ghost wearing a long robe stained with silver blood sitting next to him.
"Hello, I'm Jerry Carmen, a first-year in Slytherin!"
Jerry smiled, gracefully set down his knife and fork, and nodded politely to the ghost.
The ghost turned and looked at Jerry with surprise. It was the first time a first-year had shown no fear of him. A hint of appreciation appeared on his terrifying face.
"I am Barrow, or you can call me the Bloody Baron. I am Slytherin's ghost. Welcome to Slytherin!"
"Thank you!"
After a brief exchange, Jerry continued to eat his steak calmly.
As an adult, especially one who had experienced life and death and had taken lives, he wasn't going to be frightened by a ghost.
Seeing Jerry so calm and composed while chatting with the terrifying ghost, most of the first-year Slytherins, and even some second-years, looked at him with admiration.
