Chapter 339: Orbs of Light Everywhere
Chapter 339: Orbs of Light Everywhere
Kuangming Island.
"Alright, I'll leave it at that."
"My fellow sect member will arrive on the island soon to relieve me. If you need any help in the future, you can turn to him."
Lu Chen rode on the back of the plump bird, addressing a group of Song cultivators led by Song Yu.
"Uncle Lu, this is a small token of our appreciation, made from Kuangming Spirit Fish. Please accept it as a memento."
Song Yu handed over an exquisite jade box, his voice filled with reluctance.
During Lu Chen's three-year stay on Kuangming Island, he usually kept to himself. However, whenever there was a problem on the island, he would always be the first to arrive and help.
Especially with the incident of the blood parasites, he had given advance notice, helped them prepare, and eradicated those strange insects, preventing a potential disaster.
Therefore, Song Yu and the entire Song family were reluctant to see Lu Chen leave.
Lu Chen did not refuse. He took the jade box and glanced at Song Yun, who was standing behind Song Yu.
"After I leave, remember to focus on your cultivation. I look forward to seeing you at Tianjian Sect."
"Yes, Senior Lu! I will not let you down."
The teenage Song Yun nodded vigorously, his eyes reddening.
With his natural talent and Lu Chen's guidance, he had already reached the sixth layer of Qi Refining at a young age. Once he broke through to the higher stages of Qi Refining, he would be able to try and join the Tianjian Sect.
Lu Chen gave Song Yun some final words of encouragement and then turned to the sharp-looking female cultivator, Zhou Bingyu.
"Friend Zhou, farewell for now. I rarely leave my sect, but if the opportunity arises, please come and visit me at Tianjian Sect."
Shi Zhong had completed his duty on the island before Lu Chen and, despite his reluctance to leave the rare fishing spot in the boundless sea, he returned to the Lishan Sect, leaving his duty to another sect member.
"Okay, Friend Lu. Until we meet again."
Zhou Bingyu replied nonchalantly.
"Until we meet again," Lu Chen cupped his hands and, with a thought, the wind falcon let out a crisp cry. The spirit light surged on its pale green wings, transforming into a beam of green light that shot into the sky.
Two days later, in Jianmen Town.
Lu Chen guided the plump bird to land on the massive square of blue stone. After restocking their supplies at the various shops and stalls, he eagerly made his way to the small courtyard connected to the underworld.
As he activated the Thousand Illusions Misty Smoke Array, a familiar cool breeze washed over him.
After Lu Chen had taken away several underworld spirit plants the last time, the courtyard felt much more spacious. Currently, only the fifth-grade Holy Infant Fruit and the fifth-grade Blood Sin Flower remained.
"It's been three years since I properly nurtured them. I wonder how my two little underworld treasures have been doing."
He walked up to the Holy Infant Fruit, and on the ground, there was a spirit fruit that resembled an embryo. Within the fruit, using his Eye of Illusion-Piercing, he could vaguely make out a shriveled, dark gray infant hiding.
Sensing Lu Chen's gaze, the dark gray infant transformed into a shadow, silently hiding itself.
Occasionally, a faint chill would gather on Lu Chen, signifying the infant's presence.
"Poor Holy Infant, it hasn't fed on a child for three years."
Lu Chen sighed and took out the wooden infant of the Five-Child Heart Demon from the Gluttonous Bug Pouch.
With a swing of the Purple Electric Sword, a deep purple electric glow struck the hideous green wooden infant.
"Wake up! Spit out some infant souls!"
Stimulated by the electric glow, the wooden infant trembled, and the deep blue rune chain that wrapped around its body shone with spirit light, sealing it completely.
The wooden infant's ashen-white eyes were filled with venomous hatred. Having experienced numerous electric shocks, it knew its situation and that it would eventually have to spit out a few infant souls to lessen its suffering.
Sensing the appearance of the infant soul, the dark gray infant within the Holy Infant Fruit emerged once more, inhaling deeply, and the infant soul was sucked back into the spirit fruit like a noodle.
Lu Chen repeated the process, squeezing out several souls from the wooden infant's body and feeding them one by one to the Holy Infant Fruit.
"It's been several years since I obtained this Holy Infant Fruit seedling, and currently, the spirit plant is in a rapid growth phase. I must consider the heretical cultivator behind all this."
The Holy Infant Fruit in the courtyard was not a complete plant but rather a offshoot separated from the mother plant. When the heretical cultivator cast out this offshoot, they could possess it as it neared maturity, using it to observe and sense the surroundings.
Lu Chen had long wanted to lure out this heretical cultivator along with the mother plant of the Holy Infant Fruit. He decided to wait a little longer, refining the Nightmare Eyes to a more pure state, and then he would occasionally visit the courtyard to keep an eye on the heretical cultivator.
After tending to the Holy Infant Fruit, Lu Chen turned his attention to the Blood Sin Flower.
A hollow blood orb grew on a slender, dark red stem.
The blood orb looked as if it were woven from countless tiny blood vessels, having not drawn fresh blood in a long time, causing the vessels to appear shrunken and diminished.
Lu Chen probed his spiritual sense into the blood orb, and the boundless sea of blood within no longer held the same momentum as before, now calm as a mirror, with only a crimson flower bud in the center, waiting to bloom.
Lu Chen quickly took out the dragon's essence blood from his storage bag and poured it over the surface of the blood orb.
The tiny blood vessels instantly came alive, greedily sucking in the essence blood, and the blood orb became vibrant once more.
The dead and silent sea of blood within stirred, waves growing larger and more turbulent, and the crimson flower in the center slowly opened its bud.
After nurturing the Blood Sin Flower, Lu Chen took out the Strange Longevity Peach and Blood Spirit Palm Ginseng from the Gluttonous Bug Pouch and transplanted them into the small courtyard.
The Gluttonous Bug Pouch was two levels higher than the Raw Spirit Pouch, and its effect on maintaining the vitality of spirit plants was stronger. In just a few days, there was no adverse effect on the two spirit plants.
Although the Strange Longevity Peach was originally a fifth-grade spirit plant, a mutation had occurred. Lu Chen did not dare to plant it in the sect, so he could only leave it in the underworld courtyard in Jianmen Town.
With these additions, the courtyard now had a total of four strange and heretical spirit plants, three of which were fifth-grade, and the lowest grade was the fourth-grade Blood Spirit Palm Ginseng.
"Thankfully, I drew enough dragon essence blood from the inspections and bloodletting of those dragons in Thousand Dragon Lake, or else I really wouldn't be able to satisfy these two bloodthirsty spirit plants."
Lu Chen gazed at the gently swaying hollow blood orb and the restless pale red palms crawling around the courtyard, his heart filled with mixed emotions.
After carefully tending to these four underworld spirit plants, Lu Chen's thoughts turned to his sect. He urged the plump bird onward, and in the blink of an eye, they arrived outside the protective grand formation of the sect.
Passing through the Stars and Planets Sword Formation, a dense and pure spiritual energy rushed toward him.
"It's good to be back at the sect."
Lu Chen couldn't help but feel relieved. Although Kuangming Island was just a fishing spot, he had always felt a sense of unease there. Now that he had returned to the sect, he felt a sense of peace and security.
His heart was filled with anticipation as he thought of the numerous spirit plants that he had left untended in his cave abode for three years. Thus, he did not rush to turn in his task but instead made his way to his abode first.
As he opened the formation, the thick white mist dissipated, and a familiar scene appeared before him.
Lu Chen's figure flashed as he arrived at the spirit fields, looking around. Speckles of soft white light flickered everywhere.
Orbs of light were scattered all over the peaks!
