Chapter 339: Fleecy
Chapter 339: Fleecy
Linen chose a place to stay that was neither too close nor too far from the Wizard Tower, ensuring he could receive the protection of Tier 2 Wizards while maintaining his privacy.
Arriving at his chosen spot, he took out a simple tent from his spatial equipment and casually tossed it forward.
"Whoosh..."
The tent expanded in the wind and, in an instant, transformed into a size of several dozen square meters. It landed and firmly adhered to the ground.
"Wizard Linen," a strange voice called out.
Linen turned around and nodded at the speaker:
"Wizard Charlott, greetings."
Charlott, a First Circle Mid-Rank Wizard, was just over fifty years old and one of the most promising candidates to become a Tier 2 Wizard in the Academy.
She practiced the Academy's orthodox tradition—Shape-Shifting Magic.
This Arcane Heritage allowed practitioners to freely adjust their physique, appearance, aura, and even mental fluctuations.
After becoming a Full Wizard, they could even transform into Stone Elementals, Metal Elementals, and other objects to adapt to various situations.
There were many 'legends' about Charlott within the Academy.
Some said she was a woman who changed her gender through Witchcraft, while others claimed she was always a man.
But one thing was certain.
Anyone who had seen Charlott knew she was 'beautiful' in a way that transcended gender.
Her exquisite features, graceful figure, ambiguous gender, and masterful Artificer skills left people in awe.
As an Artificer, she didn't need to go to the front lines to hunt down magical creatures.
"A Full Wizard at sixteen," Charlott sighed as she looked at Linen.
"Whether it's opportunity or luck, it's enviable that Wizard Linen has advanced to this stage at such a young age."
"Tonight, I'm hosting a banquet at my residence and have invited several Wizards. Are you interested in coming?"
"Oh?" Linen's eyes lit up.
"When is it?"
"When the sun sets behind the mountains," Charlott smiled upon his agreement.
"I'll be waiting for you."
"Alright."
...
This was a small gathering.
All the participants were Wizards from the Academy, each young in age but advanced in cultivation.
Evidently,
This was a rather high-end gathering.
Linen's presence indicated that he had gained the recognition of the elite Wizards in the Academy.
"Charlott rarely invites others personally," a female Wizard with white hair and a beautiful appearance leaned towards Linen and whispered,
"There are very few people she invites, and you're one of them."
"It's my honor," Linen raised his glass, clinked it lightly with hers, and took a small sip. The refreshing aroma permeated his body, causing every cell to relax, and he couldn't help but praise,
"Delicious wine!"
"Hehe..." Maggie, also an Academy Wizard, followed the orthodox path of Nature Magic.
She held her glass and watched the performances of over a dozen dancing girls, casually asking,
"Did Charles offend you?"
"Yes," Linen nodded.
"It was him who introduced me to Kito."
"Oh?" Maggie raised an eyebrow.
"No wonder!"
Everyone present knew that Kito had tried to harm Linen but ended up failing and inadvertently helping him instead.
So, it seemed Charles had a grudge against Linen.
"Some people become Wizards through resources and Talent, while others rely on luck."
After some thought, Maggie spoke,
"But regardless of the path, if a Wizard loses their ambition after advancing, they will struggle to achieve greatness."
"Although Charles is still alive, he's as good as dead. You don't need to stoop to his level."
"Hmm..." Linen frowned.
"Are you advising me to be magnanimous?"
"No!" Maggie shook her head.
"I'm advising you not to rush. Charles, despite losing his ambition, is still a First Circle Mid-Rank Wizard, and he's gained many benefits from his business ventures over the years. Even if you want to deal with him, you should be cautious."
"Your potential is immense, and you shouldn't let someone like him hinder your cultivation."
"Of course..."
She tilted her head and smiled lightly.
"You can ask for my help, as long as you offer sufficient compensation. I'm willing to solve your problem."
"As I said, I'll do it myself," Lin En stated, his voice calm as he gently shook his silky white hair.
He felt no seduction, but a chill ran through his body.
Petrification Spell!
This woman's hair seemed to have undergone some sort of modification, like that of a snake-woman Medusa, capable of petrifying anyone who laid eyes on it.
"No need," Lin En said, shaking his head lightly.
"Haha..." A loud laugh rang out from across the room, interrupting their conversation. "Let's drink to our hearts' content today!"
Lin En looked up.
The beastman, Nikor, despite his beastly lineage, had a tall and robust physique. He was a wise individual, a rare breed among the beastmen known for their exceptional intelligence, guiding their clans.
Nikor was one of them.
Practicing the Shadow and Mental Magic Tradition, he carried a mirror at his waist and was the only Advanced Apprentice Wizard in the room.
There were many wizards present, but only Maggie, Charlott, and Nikor truly drew attention.
Lin En raised his cup in a gesture of farewell, already feeling the effects of the alcohol. He bid his farewells and stumbled out, feeling a bit tipsy.
Some wizards embraced beautiful women or handsome men and headed upstairs, while others hugged their wine barrels and drank heartily.
It was uncommon for wizards to get involved with each other.
This was understandable; wizards' techniques were often enigmatic, and many held hidden tricks up their sleeves. Without proper precautions, one could easily fall under another's control. Countless tales existed of individuals who, after attending a single gathering, became puppets, living a life worse than death.
Half a month later...
"Release!" Lin En exclaimed, his body slightly swaying as a flame erupted from within, engulfing the entire area.
As the flames dissipated, a three-meter-long Flame Scale Wyrm appeared in its place.
"Finally, success," Lin En muttered, his serpentine body undulating. Sparks of fire floated around him, and dense fire elemental particles surged into his body.
"A First-Rank Peak Flame Scale Wyrm, even if it can't match a First Circle Late-Rank Wizard, it's not far off," he assessed.
"What a pity..."
"Maintaining this transformation is too mentally taxing. With my current cultivation, I can only sustain it for a minute at most."
A minute of First Circle Late-Rank power was sufficient to handle most dangers.
Moreover, Lin En wasn't just a wizard; he had mastered numerous advanced combat techniques. His First-Rank Peak physical strength, which could merely withstand wizard spells in the hands of others, reached its limit in his capable hands.
"The Great Flame Bloodline..."
With a turn of his body, Lin En reverted to his human form, supporting his chin with his hand as he pondered, "This heritage's cultivation progress is slow. Without enhancing my bloodline, even living to two hundred years old, it's almost impossible to advance from First Circle Initial-Rank to First Circle Peak."
"No wonder Ji Tu has been taking on disciples!"
Normal cultivation methods weren't effective, but he could devour the bloodlines of his disciples to strengthen himself and advance his cultivation.
Ji Tu, who started out unremarkable, had even reached the Second Circle, solely by devouring the bloodlines of his disciples.
"I'm better off, possessing a First Circle Peak bloodline. Within a hundred years, I might become a Second-Rank Wizard."
A hundred years?
Lin En shook his head slightly.
He could wait, but his original body couldn't.
In a hundred years, Fourth-Rank and even Fifth-Rank deities would appear, and his original body would have no choice but to flee in disarray.
Therefore...
If Lin En wanted to help his original body, he needed to advance his cultivation to the Third Circle and gain access to Fourth and Fifth Circle heritages.
"My original body wants me to continue with the Great Flame Bloodline, probably seeing its potential. But teaching disciples and then devouring them goes against the Knight's Path, making it a difficult decision."
Shaking his head, Lin En turned and left the room.
Today was the day he traded potions.
After taking just two steps, he abruptly stopped, bending down to pick up a tuft of blue fur from the ground.
A familiar scent caused Lin En to narrow his eyes.
He recognized it; it was the same as the one left behind when Susan disappeared, the scent identical.
