Chapter 339: Crimson Edge (II)
The air within the Alternate Dimension warped violently, and from the throat area of the Red Dragon, a searing Flame Light erupted.
“Quick! Scatter!”
“That’s Dragon Breath!”
Dekks roared at the top of his lungs.
Members of Crimson Edge sprang into action—some spread their wings and soared into the sky, others vanished into shadows, and a few vanished through spatial teleportation, scattering in every direction.
Boom!
A torrent of blazing fire poured down like a waterfall of molten fury, transforming the entire space into a Sea of Flames. Their meticulously prepared defenses were instantly melted away by the scorching heat.
Kai Xiusu, his entire body wreathed in fire, charged through space with the sheer force of his massive frame, using his fangs and claws to tear at the veil separating this realm from the Prime Material Plane.
“Is this truly your best? A laughable attempt to slay a dragon?”
“You fools—so many have tried before you, and all met the same fate.”
“Their end is always the same—reduced to Ash.”
With a thunderous roar, the Red Dragon shook the very fabric of space around him, sending tremors rippling through the air.
After repeated charges, a web-like network of cracks spread across the void. Then came a sharp, crystalline crack, and with a final, shattering sound, the space collapsed entirely—Klein, despite his desperate efforts, could no longer hold it together.
They were suddenly exposed in midair above the Prime Material Plane, tumbling through the sky before crashing down onto the battlefield below, leaving behind a scene of utter devastation.
“Don’t fear, comrades!”
“This kind of battle will drain his strength—there’s no way he can sustain this!”
Dekks Flamegold unfurled his wings mid-flight, lifting himself above the wreckage. With a powerful grip on his golden longsword, he raised it high. On the hilt, the sun emblem of the Order of Eternal Radiance Amanata gleamed.
“Evil Dragon! By the name of Lord of Eternal Radiance Amanata—I shall grant you utter Termination!”
A beam of pure solar Radiance descended from the heavens, blazing down upon the Red Dragon.
This was the Revenge Holy Knight’s Channel Divine Power: Oath of Utter Destruction!
Dekks channeled the power of the Sun God, instilling in the beast a deep, primal Fear of Order and Justice—especially devastating against Fiends and Undead.
The Red Dragon, now bathed in blinding light, shimmered like a molten statue, yet he still flapped his vast wings with relentless force.
Meanwhile, Klein summoned a thick, spiraling chain of spiritual energy from the air, wrapping around the dragon’s massive body with iron-like grip.
“Revenge Black Rider… Familiar tactics,” Kai Xiusu mused, his vertical pupils narrowing with amusement.
With a single, effortless shake, the Red Dragon tore free from the chains. The divine light flickered and dimmed, the chains rattled violently, and the air echoed with a harsh clash.
“Now! Strike him while he’s vulnerable!”
“He’s too strong! My Channel Divine Power and Klein’s Spell can’t hold much longer!”
Dekks shouted in urgency.
The members of Crimson Edge needed no further instruction.
“Massacre the Enemies!”
Gromra raised his hand crossbow and fired a crossbow bolt wreathed in thick, black fog—the Dragon-Slaying Arrow.
At the same time, Ingrid raised her staff, her face serene with devotion. The sun symbol at its tip blazed with radiant light.
“Sacred Flame Strike!”
A vertical pillar of divine fire roared down from the heavens, descending like a celestial hammer.
“Calamity Blade!”
Klein raised his staff, pointing skyward. A dimensional rift opened in the air—a blade-shaped tear, stretching several feet long, wrapped in swirling Black Mist.
The Dragon-Slaying Arrow, now the size of a thick arm, shot through the air, trailing black smoke.
The pillar of sacred fire descended from above.
The rift-blade tore through space.
Three Legendary-Level attacks converged from three directions—each aimed solely at the Red Dragon above.
If this had been any ordinary dragon, even an Ancient Dragon of the Red variety, such concentrated fire would have left it grievously wounded.
But they had faced Kai Xiusu.
Dragons, by nature, possessed high resistance to magic. Ordinary spells barely scratched them. And this dragon’s Essence was staggering.
“Roar—!”
The Red Dragon reared back, spreading his wings wide. In an instant, he tore free from every binding—divine light, magical chains, mental suppression—shattering them all like glass.
[Magic Wastage]
A barrage of Anti-Magic Rays shot outward, forming massive, spherical fields that devoured magic itself. Ingrid’s sacred fire was extinguished. Klein’s dimensional blade was swallowed whole.
Even the Dragon-Slaying Arrow, hurtling straight for the heart, was caught mid-flight—pinched between the dragon’s claw.
With the power of countless dragon spells amplifying his strength, speed, and reflexes, Kai Xiusu stood unshaken.
“Dragon-Killing Arrow? How amusing.”
A cold smirk crossed his face. He felt the arrow’s enchantment—its deadly signature, specifically attuned to destroy dragon essence. If it had pierced his heart, even he would have suffered grievous injury.
Leo Bosk had truly gone all in. This was no ordinary adventuring party. They were capable of countering—even killing—an Ancient Dragon-level foe.
“How… is this possible?”
Gromra stared upward in disbelief, only to lock eyes with the Red Dragon across the void. Those golden irises, deep as an Abyss, seemed to gleam with a cruel amusement.
A crushing Aura of Intimidation surged from all directions, freezing time and space itself.
This was the power of Reality-Warping Charisma.
Gromra’s mind froze. His breath halted. He stood paralyzed, utterly still.
A Ranger of Legendary caliber—this was the greatest of sins in battle. And yet, the truth would soon prove it.
Swoosh—!
A massive, arm-thick arrow shot through the air, piercing straight through Gromra’s chest and pinning him to the ground.
He slowly looked down. Blood spilled from his lips.
Then, realization struck.
The arrow that had killed him… was his own.
“Gromra!”
Ingrid’s face twisted in horror. She raised her staff frantically, trying to cast a protective barrier.
But the arrow erupted in a sudden, scorching flame.
The slender Ranger was engulfed in fire.
A single, shrill Wail—cut short—followed by the crackling of burning flesh and bone.
Where Gromra once stood, only a shapeless pile of ash remained.
“No—!”
“Let me go! I want to flee—into the Shadowmire Abyss!”
Gromra’s spiritual soul, now a shadowy wisp, tried to escape.
But the red flame followed.
It consumed the last trace of his soul.
Another agonized Wail echoed across the battlefield—then silence.
Legendary Ranger, Shadowrealm Tracker Grom Duart—dead.
Even a Perfect Resurrection spell could not bring him back.
“No… no…”
Ingrid shook, her golden eyes wide with terror. Her white robes trembled violently.
She had never faced anything like this.
It had all happened too fast.
In just a few breaths—before the battle had even truly begun—her party had already lost a member.
