Chapter 335: The End
Chapter 335: The End
"Dorothea!"
Kito turned around, his eyes filled with disbelief and denial as he gazed at the unexpected figure.
Having lived for over a hundred years, he had never trusted anyone.
The only exception was Dorothea.
Of course, it wasn't because of their deep connection, but because Dorothea was under his control.
As a puppet, she couldn't defy her master. Kito had granted her unrestricted access to places, including the Wizard Tower.
Never did he imagine...
That she would betray him!
After nearly a century of being under his control, his dominance had seeped into her very bones. Facing Kito's furious glare, Dorothea's body trembled, and she unconsciously retreated, pulling out the dagger embedded in her body.
"Pfft!"
The dagger drew blood, causing Kito's body to shudder.
"Poison?"
He gritted his teeth and roared, "Yellow Sparrow Poison!"
As a Tier 1 Wizard who cultivated Fire Elemental and Bloodline Witchcraft, Kito's physical body had been modified long ago. Even if his heart were pierced, it wouldn't be fatal in a short time, and ordinary poisons had no effect on him.
But there were exceptions.
Yellow Sparrow Poison was one of them.
"Evil deeds will eventually lead to self-destruction," Lin En remarked, shaking his head. "Mentor, if you had treated Senior Dorothea better over the past hundred years, you wouldn't have ended up like this."
"As the saying goes, what you have now was destined long ago," Kito roared. Fire erupted from his mouth, nose, and pores, causing the temperature in the room to soar.
"Do you think you've won?"
"Die!"
"Boom..."
Without any warning, the second floor of the Wizard Tower instantly turned into a sea of flames, and Dorothea screamed as she fell to the ground.
As for Lin En, he raised an eyebrow, watching as Kito transformed into a flame and rushed towards him.
Still under the influence of the control, Lin En couldn't move, and he could only watch helplessly as the flames surged into his body.
"Ugh..."
"Soul Possession?"
Unlike Angus's long-distance spellcasting, Kito intended to possess Lin En's body.
"I didn't expect that you, Mentor, would know such witchcraft."
Closing his eyes and sinking his consciousness into the psychic ocean, Kito's soul also appeared there.
However, compared to Lin En's intact soul, Kito's soul appeared somewhat illusory and insubstantial.
Evidently, he was injured, and it wasn't a minor wound.
First, the psychic battle with Angus, then the mutual destruction from Angus's self-detonation, and now Dorothea's assassination attempt. Kito was already remarkable for keeping his soul stable.
"Hmph!" Kito coldly snorted, and fish-scale-like patterns appeared on his body, while his eyes transformed into vertical pupils.
"Swish!"
His body shimmered, revealing its true form.
Flame Scale Serpent!
This was a relatively common magical creature, often found deep within lava, and it possessed an innate ability to control flames.
"A Flame Scale Serpent?" Lin En exclaimed in surprise.
"To enter the gate with such a low-level magical creature and still become a Tier 1 Wizard is quite an achievement."
Kito's lips twitched.
If given a choice, he wouldn't have picked the Flame Scale Serpent in his youth. But back then, it was the best option among the few bloodlines that met the requirements and could be refined.
However, this choice also resulted in his shallow foundation, forcing him to rely on continuously devouring his disciples' bloodlines to enhance himself.
"It's not a Flame Scale Serpent anymore but a Flame Wyrm!" Kito declared as he whipped his body, instantly transforming into a giant wyrm over ten meters long. With his bizarre double pupils, he glared at Lin En:
"By consuming you, I can be reborn!"
"Is that so?" Lin En took a step back, his body engulfed in raging flames. "I doubt you can pull it off!"
The Flame Heart Witchcraft, created by the Origin, was a 4th-tier technique. Even with an ordinary bloodline, it significantly enhanced one's affinity and control over flames.
"No matter how many tricks you have, they won't work in my psychic ocean. Moreover, I'm already a full-fledged Wizard, while you're heavily injured. The odds are clearly in my favor."
"Hmm..."
Lin En's eyes flickered, and a jade pendant appeared in his hand.
"I almost forgot about this."
This was the enchanted item given to him by Natalie, which could increase his defense against attacks on his psychic ocean.
"Boom!"
Instead of speaking, Kito transformed into a ball of fire and rushed towards Lin En.
In response, a similar fireball greeted him.
But it was larger! Its foundation was even more profound!
"Hmm..."
Dolorin struggled to stand up, her body trembling as she slowly rose from the ground and began walking towards Lin En.
Her entire puppet body was covered in rust, with cracks all over its shell, and the hand holding the dagger shook uncontrollably.
"Die!"
"Die..."
After nearly a hundred years of exploitation and control, she had longed for death, and rather than continue enduring her tormentor's torture, she preferred a clean death.
She forced her body to approach Lin En, slowly raising her arm and tightening her grip on the dagger in her hand.
Then, she saw Lin En open his eyes.
His crystal-clear eyes sparkled with dazzling brilliance, like a bright star, only to suddenly dim.
"..." Dolorin's body trembled as she forced down her fear:
"Who are you?"
"Me?" Lin En stretched his limbs and slowly moved his body, reaching out to take the dagger from her hand:
"Dolorin, if I were Kito, do you think you'd still be standing here?"
"A Tier 1 Wizard..."
He smiled lightly:
"My mentor has really given me a great gift!"
...
"Hmm?"
The old woman, who had been waiting in the living room with her eyes closed to rest, suddenly opened them and looked towards the Wizard Tower.
"The enchantments are gone?"
Natalie also sensed something amiss and stood up abruptly, her face turning towards the Wizard Tower with concern:
"What's going on?"
Just then, they realized that many of the enchantments within Kito's estate had suddenly failed, and the Wizard Tower's spiritual light had dissipated.
It was as if...
It had lost its master!
The two exchanged a glance, and Natalie's beautiful eyes narrowed:
"Let's go and see!"
With that, she rushed towards the Wizard Tower using the Quick Travel Spell, disappearing after a few blinks.
The old woman sighed, extending her hand with a hint of helplessness, and then transformed into a gust of black wind, following Natalie.
They arrived at the Wizard Tower just as Lin En was slowly descending from the second floor.
"Natalie!"
Lin En was momentarily stunned upon seeing Natalie, then smiled:
"You're here."
"Yes," Natalie said, her body tensed as she held her staff and looked past Lin En, her voice grave:
"Where's Kito?"
As she approached Lin En, the old woman suddenly reached out and grabbed Natalie, her disheveled hair framing a pair of dull yellow eyes that fixed on Lin En.
"Who are you?" she asked.
"Me?" Lin En pointed to his nose and laughed:
"Who else could I be?"
"A few months ago, Lin En was just an Intermediate Apprentice Wizard. Now, you're a Full Wizard. I've never seen an apprentice progress so quickly," the old woman said, her eyes flickering.
"That's because you haven't seen enough," Lin En shrugged, turning back and pointing upstairs, his expression regretful:
"Mentor Kito's spellcasting failed, causing his bloodline to collapse. Before he passed away, he used a special method to pass on his bloodline power to me, allowing me to become a Full Wizard."
"Oh!"
"Mentor Kito has been so kind to me. I've only been his apprentice for a few months, and I haven't done anything to help him, yet he treated me this way."
"That's right!" Lin En clapped his hands and spoke solemnly:
"The reason Mentor Kito met with misfortune was because of Angus' curse. I'm going to report Angus' actions to the academy."
Angus? The others looked puzzled.
How is he involved? Natalie's staff glowed intermittently, as if observing something, and the wariness in her eyes gradually faded.
"It's Lin En!"
"Not Kito."
