Chapter 334: Tricking Dobby
Chapter 334: Tricking Dobby
In the village of St. Catchpole, an old-fashioned dark green car swayed to a halt at the entrance of a dilapidated house.
The car door opened, and Kyle, along with several members of the Weasley family, slowly exited the vehicle.
"We're home, kids. Be careful not to leave your luggage in the car," Mr. Weasley called out from the driver's seat, but he showed no intention of getting out himself.
His old Ford, which Ron had driven to Hogwarts and subsequently lost in the Forbidden Forest, was nowhere to be found. This car was a temporary loan from the Ministry of Magic, and he needed to return it soon.
Every time he thought about this, Mr. Weasley felt a twinge of pain. He had put a lot of effort into modifying that ordinary Ford, adding not only the standard Trace-less Expansion Charm but also the ability to fly, turn invisible, and automatically sense directions... only to have it disappear without a trace.
"Maybe I should find an excuse to beat Ron up?" Mr. Weasley silently mused as he drove back to the Ministry of Magic.
"His grades aren't too bad..."
...
On the other side, as the group alighted from the car, Mrs. Weasley rushed out of the house.
"Thank goodness you're finally on vacation!" she exclaimed, a water bottle attached to her waist and a brand-new large brush in her hand. She headed straight for Kyle.
"Kyle, you..."
At that moment, Ron suddenly looked at her with surprise, noticing the house-elf following her.
"Oh, you must be Dobby... no, wait, it's Dobby!"
"Yes, Mr. Weasley," Dobby respectfully replied.
"He calls me sir!" Ron looked a bit excited.
"If you like..." Fred smirked, "we can call you that too."
"Mr. Ronald Weasley, would you please take your luggage back to your room now?" George giggled.
Ron's face turned red.
Just as he was about to pick up his luggage, Dobby had already stacked the boxes together and carried them back into the house.
"This is so convenient," Ginny exclaimed.
"Yeah..."
Ron forgot about Fred and George's teasing and began to fantasize about the upcoming life of leisure.
"Convenient? I don't think so."
In a corner unnoticed by the others, Mrs. Weasley muttered to herself.
She pulled Kyle aside, making sure Dobby wasn't nearby, and then asked eagerly, "Dear, I know it's not right to say this, but can you really send Dobby away?"
"Of course, Mrs. Weasley," Kyle nodded, "but it's too late today. I'll take him away tomorrow."
"That's great, that's great," Mrs. Weasley sighed in relief, "if possible, please try not to hurt him. Dobby is a really good child, but..."
She suddenly sighed, "Arthur's appetite has been getting smaller and smaller lately. I know he wants to eat my cooking."
"I've tried talking to Dobby, but every time he's so nervous that he thinks he hasn't done well enough, and he even bumps his head against the table."
"I understand, Mrs. Weasley..." Kyle nodded, "leave it to me."
While the two were talking, the others had already entered the house.
Dobby had prepared a table full of cookies and desserts, suggesting that they fill up before dinner.
However, the table was so full of cookies that it could easily serve as a meal.
At this rate, the Weasley family's food expenses were bound to increase significantly...
Kyle found Dobby busy in the kitchen, preparing ingredients for dinner and desserts like pudding.
"Sir!"
Upon seeing Kyle, Dobby immediately stopped his work, "Thank you for helping Dobby find a new job. Dobby likes it here."
"I'm glad you like it," Kyle said, "by the way, I have something to discuss with you. Would you like to come to my house as a guest?"
"An invitation... you just said, an invitation!"
Dobby excitedly grabbed his large ears, his entire face turning reddish-brown, "Dobby is very willing."
"Afterwards, Kyle brought Dobby back to his own home.
"I have good news."
As Dobby eagerly prepared to scrub the floor, Kyle quickly spoke up, "You've passed your probationary period."
"Probationary... period?"
Dobby looked confused, clearly not understanding what this meant.
"In simple terms, the family you just met wasn't your actual workplace."
Kyle shared the excuse he had prepared, and before Dobby could use his head to bump the floor, he quickly added, "You need to work for another family, but the master there is very picky, and only the best house-elves can gain their approval."
It seemed like he had triggered some sort of keyword...
"Dobby can... Dobby is the best house-elf!"
Fortunately, the floor was spared.

"Of course, Mrs. Weasley has already told me." Kyle nodded and continued, "You passed her test, and you're qualified to go there to work."
...
After Kyle's persuasion, Dobby quickly believed his words.
But it insisted on finishing tonight's dinner before leaving the Weasley household, or it would rather not be the "best house-elf."
Kyle had no reason to refuse, as they were leaving tomorrow anyway.
Mrs. Weasley readily agreed.
After settling Dobby's affairs, Mr. Weasley returned just in time, accompanied by Chris and Diana.
The reunion after a year was not as warm as imagined...
As soon as Diana saw Kyle, she immediately frowned and began to scold him for tampering with time, saying that when she discovered she had gone back in time, she should have written to her family first.
"Even if I don't receive the letter, you can tell your dad... he'll always find me..."
Diana narrowed her eyes, "If it weren't for Dumbledore, I wouldn't even know you were having such a great time at school..."
"Have all the teachers at school died, and you need to solve the Chamber of Secrets..."
Chris kept his head down, as if he hadn't heard anything, and quietly slipped out the door to hide in the Leaky Cauldron.
The lecture lasted for over half an hour, until Kyle repeatedly assured that Salazar Slytherin had agreed to help him erase the effects of that time travel, did it finally end.
As a Slytherin graduate, Diana had an inexplicable admiration and trust for the founder.
It was like Lockhart's fans at the beginning of the school year, who believed everything he said.
...
Finally, it was evening.
Kyle's family, with the Weasleys, set off for the Leaky Cauldron.
Dobby used up all the ingredients and turned them into a sumptuous feast.
Mr. Weasley had to temporarily transform a larger dining table to barely accommodate all the plates.
Because it was so sumptuous, the dinner lasted for nearly two hours before it finally ended. Ron covered his stomach and slumped in his chair, unwilling to move.
This meal was almost like a school feast.
Enjoying a feast at home... this was something he had never imagined before, no wonder so many people wanted a house-elf.
"It's so great..." Ron thought to himself.
Fred and George were also delighted. With a house-elf, Mrs. Weasley wouldn't have to clean their rooms anymore, and she wouldn't discover the things they hid under their beds.
And Percy... house-elves were known for being quiet while doing chores, so they wouldn't disturb him.
...
