Chapter 334 – Bahamut's Breath
Just as Kai Xiusu prepared to engage the opponent in another brutal melee, the Silver Dragon’s body began to shimmer with faint Arcane Radiance. His massive form gradually dissolved, vanishing from the battlefield and reappearing atop the cloud layer, several miles away.
Kai Xiusu gazed upward from afar, voice dripping with provocation:
"Old Home, are you afraid?"
"That teleportation was a violation of the Dragonkind’s ancient Sacred Duel Tradition. Are you surrendering to me?"
"Who needs rules when dealing with a creature like you, an Evil Dragon?"
Oszedro roared, a thunderous cry that echoed across the wastes. On his chest, a metallic disc slowly rotated, its intricate needle now pointing toward a radiant blue crystal.
"By the gods..."
"What in the name of Heaven is that?"
"How could such a grand structure appear out of nowhere?"
People stared up at the sky, awestruck, as a new spectacle unfolded—icy northern winds howled in from the distance, swirling around the Silver Dragon. Frost particles gathered, solidified, and coalesced into a towering bastion hundreds of meters high, forged from shimmering silver ice and suspended in the clouds. The fortress completely encased the dragon, sealing off space, energy, and matter beneath its Absolute Order.
【Bahamut’s Platinum Bastion】
The Red Dragon’s speed had utterly surpassed Kai Xiusu’s expectations. The sheer power of its breath could shatter his defenses. Facing such a foe, even the slightest misstep could lead to deadlock. For a mage like him, melee combat was no longer the right path.
Thus, he must resort to the safest, most conservative strategy.
Oszedro intended to wear down his opponent within this Unbreakable Bastion, draining his strength through relentless spellcasting until victory came through sheer magical superiority. Then, he would seal the Red Dragon—this ancient beast with Ancestral Dragon Potential—and guide it onto the Right Path. Only then could the endless war and suffering across this land finally end.
"Damn turtle shell," Kai Xiusu snarled, gritting his teeth so hard that a thin thread of fire spat from his lips.
No wonder he was a Legendary-Level Mage. This Ancient Thousand-Year-Old Silver Dragon, driven by Arcane Hunger, wielded spellcraft far beyond Kai Xiusu’s reach. And that metal disc on his chest—undoubtedly a Godlike Artifact, imbued with divine attributes.
If Oszedro were allowed to continue casting spells behind that impenetrable shield, Kai Xiusu would be at a hopeless disadvantage—endlessly on the defensive, outmatched in every way.
"I might need to provoke this old Home," he mused, "to force him into initiating an attack.
Even better… to drive him into a reckless, all-out fight."
A twisted grin split across his face. His voice carried mockery, laced with malice:
"Oszedro… want to know where your beloved granddaughter is?"
"Evil Dragon! What have you done to her?!"
"ROOOOAAAAARRR—!"
The Ancient Silver Dragon bellowed in fury, summoning thousands of jagged ice spikes that rained down from the sky like a deadly storm. The spikes plummeted with overwhelming force, striking the ground with thunderous impact.
The Red Dragon didn’t flinch. He spread his wings wide, using only the swirling flames around his body to form a protective wall—melting every ice spear before it could touch him.
"Old Home," Kai Xiusu said, voice low and laden with meaning, "have you ever heard of The Song of Ashen Embers?"
"What?"
Oszedro’s heart lurched. A chilling thought struck him like lightning.
As a mage, he had studied this enemy thoroughly. But he had dismissed The Song of Ashen Embers as the delusion of a mortal mind—after all, the Red Dragon merely devoured humans. It couldn’t possibly be capable of such abominations.
Kai Xiusu licked his lips with deliberate mockery, his grin widening into something monstrous:
"The taste of that young Silver Dragon… was exquisite. In every sense of the word."
To Oszedro, the sight was utterly chilling.
"No… it can’t be!"
The Ancient Silver Dragon froze, as if struck by divine thunder. His face twisted in horror.
This Red Dragon’s charisma was so potent, it warped reality itself. Even magic could not discern truth from falsehood in his words. Though Red and Silver Dragons were sworn enemies, they were both descendants of Aio—true dragons of noble blood. Cannibalism among kin was akin to humanity’s most unforgivable sin.
Even the most Chaotic Evil Red Dragons rarely consumed their own kind. Any dragon who did was remembered as Infamous Evil Beasts across the multiverse—so vile that even Tiamat would refuse to acknowledge them.
"ROOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAARRRRRR!"
The Ancient Silver Dragon let loose a deafening, soul-shattering roar that shook Heaven and Earth. A hurricane of ice and fury swept across the wasteland, tearing through the land like a divine wrath.
The Platinum Bastion shattered into mist, dissolving in the wind.
Oszedro unfurled his vast silver wings and rose slowly into the sky. His colossal, radiant form glowed beneath the sunlight, blinding all who dared look upon him.
His eyes—two vast, crystalline orbs of water-like silver—burned with uncontainable fury.
"Kai Xiusu… I made a grave mistake."
"For a creature like you—irredeemable, utterly wicked—there should have been no expectation. No hope. No desire to reform you."
"Any mercy I felt toward you, born of kinship… is a betrayal of every righteous martyr who died at your hands. A blasphemy against the World Order."
"You do not deserve the name True Dragon. You are a Shameful, Pitiful Monster. A flaw that must be Eradicated."
Oszedro stared down at the earth, his chest disc turning slowly. Ancient magical runes flared to life across its surface, glowing faintly from the cracks between its plates.
The needle finally settled upon the silver-white gemstone.
This was a sacred artifact—bestowed by Bahamut himself. The very one he had received upon leaving Heaven’s Mountain. He had sworn a vow: only when facing the most evil, irredeemable foe would he unleash the power of the silver "Bahamut’s Wind."
"Kai Xiusu… the suffering of this land has gone on long enough."
"Therefore… I shall end it."
The Silver Dragon parted his jaws slightly. A pale, milky glow began to pulse deep within his throat.
【Bahamut’s Breath】
A wave of sacred light erupted outward. The northern wind howled, and in the clouds above, a hymn seemed to echo—ancient, divine, eternal. The overwhelming Aura of Intimidation made even the strongest warriors want to kneel and worship.
"That’s… Bahamut’s Breath?"
"No! Grandfather’s going to kill him! Kai Xiusu can’t survive this!"
Olivia, watching tensely from afar, gasped in horror. She screamed—a piercing, desperate cry—and transformed instantly into her Silver Dragon True Form, launching herself into the sky, her final hope to stop this deadly duel.
"Stop—! Grandfather!"
Her voice trembled with anxiety, edged with a sob.
Beside her, Blue Dragon Christina roared, wings flaring as she surged after her:
"Damned Metal Dragon! You won’t interfere with the prince’s battle!"
But in the midst of such a tense, world-shattering confrontation, their presence was negligible. The two young dragons, each over ten meters long, were mere hatchlings compared to the titans above.
Now, the eyes of the two dragons were locked—only each other. Any distraction could lead to irreversible consequences.
"This is Bahamut’s strength! Come on, old Home—perfect!"
Kai Xiusu laughed wildly, gazing up at the sky, his bloody maw wide open.
Flames surged through every vessel in his body, blazing so intensely they spilled out through his skin. Root-like patterns erupted across his flesh, pulsing with raw power.
The endless flow of energy surged into his Dragon Crystal. At his neck and tail, porous organs erupted with dazzling, high-temperature white flames—blazing like stars.
A violent, chaotic magical fission exploded within the Dragon Crystal. Chaotic sparks and arcs of lightning crackled violently inside, bursting like fireworks. Embers ricocheted wildly across his chest. The crystal blazed so brightly it became a miniature sun on the ground.
A scorching wind radiated outward from the Red Dragon, obliterating everything within a hundred-meter radius—men, stone, trees—all reduced to ash in an instant.
"BOOM!"
The explosion roared like a storm of experience points.
【Primordial Breath】
In that moment, a torrent of blue-white fire erupted from the Red Dragon’s maw—so hot it instantly vaporized the air around him.
Simultaneously, from the Ancient Silver Dragon’s mouth poured a pure, sacred torrent of white light—so cold it could solidify space itself.
