Chapter 333: The Beginning
Chapter 333: The Beginning
Time passed.
Linen had been at Kito's Wizard Tower for almost two months, and his supply of potions and supplements was nearly depleted.
As for his cultivation...
On the surface, he had just become an Advanced Wizard Apprentice, but in reality, he was already nearing the pinnacle of an Apprentice Wizard.
With steady and solid progress, he would undoubtedly achieve the rank of a Full Wizard within two years!
Under Kito's dedicated guidance and with the aid of various potions, he had successfully constructed the Zero-Circle Spell—Blood Purification.
Additionally,
He had also developed a mental defense spell—Everstill Flame.
This spell could calm agitated emotions and maintain composure in any situation, providing strong resistance against various soul-targeting attacks.
Everything was ready.
Meanwhile,
Kito had also been busy on the second floor of the Wizard Tower, inscribing intricate runes and setting up a peculiar altar in the corner, adorned with beast bones, magic crystals, and pure flames...
As an Apprentice Wizard, Linen couldn't fathom what Kito was up to, but he understood it perfectly.
Blood Plunder!
This was akin to an altar, a mechanism through which one could plunder the bloodline of another using a unique spell.
From the looks of it, the preparations were almost complete.
"Hmm..."
Linen exhaled deeply, checking his gear one last time in preparation for the upcoming event.
"Huh?"
His temples twitched slightly, and his expression suddenly changed.
It felt like an invisible steel needle had pierced his psychic ocean, causing excruciating pain that made him cry out involuntarily.
"Ah!"
"What's wrong?"
Kito, who was arranging the altar, furrowed his brows at the sight and quickly appeared by Linen's side, tapping his staff gently:
"Banishing Spell!"
The One-Circle Banishing Spell was capable of expelling all foreign entities invading the mind and body, a relatively powerful auxiliary curse.
As the spell's aura enveloped Linen, his facial expression gradually returned to normal, and he opened his eyes, still feeling the lingering effects.
"Mentor."
"What happened?"
"..." Kito's expression turned grim:
"What have you been up to lately? A Full Wizard just attempted to curse you from a distance."
As Linen's cultivation increased, Kito's attitude towards him had become increasingly harsh, and his patience had worn thin.
His tone now carried a hint of anger.
It was understandable.
After all, Linen had nearly depleted Kito's savings during this time, and his cultivation progress wasn't particularly remarkable.
Moreover, with the impending bloodline seizure, Kito had grown weary of sugarcoating his words.
"This..." Linen shook his head lightly:
"I didn't do anything!"
He had his suspicions, but he chose not to voice them, especially since the performance earlier had been too obvious. If Kito were to catch on, it would spell trouble.
"Hmph!"
Kito scoffed:
"You must have offended someone, which is why they'd go through the trouble of cursing you. However, it shouldn't be a significant issue. I doubt any Full Wizard would expend considerable effort to target an Apprentice Wizard like you."
He continued:
"You're at a critical juncture now, so put aside any distractions and focus on your cultivation."
"Yes, Mentor," Linen replied.
...
A few more days passed.
Kito had completed his preparations, and the Wizard who had attempted to curse Linen from afar had not made any further moves.
Second Floor of the Wizard Tower.
The hanging flame candles ignited on their own, and a mysterious hexagram array emerged silently from the ground.
Linen, deep in meditation with his eyes closed, seemed oblivious to these changes and continued his arduous training.
"Tap..."
Kito stepped into the array, fingers weaving intricate spell gestures, as the Wizard Tower's portals sealed shut, and the array began to operate at full capacity.
Everything was set, and the culmination would take place today.
Anticipating the stabilization of his foundation and a promising future, Kito, despite being over a hundred years old, couldn't suppress his quickened breath and accelerated heartbeat. His gaze towards Linen intensified with fervor.
This disciple of his was more like a ladder to Tier 2!
"Mentor," Doll Dorothea, now with most of her body covered in rust, whispered from the stairs, "Natalie Wizard sent a message saying she wants to see you."
"Natalie?"
Kito's joyous mood was abruptly interrupted, his face clouding over with displeasure. Without turning back, he waved his hand dismissively:
"Ignore her for now. We'll deal with everything after today."
"..." Dorothea opened her mouth to speak but eventually shook her head softly after glancing at the meditating Linen.
She had thought that this young man would have some means to change the situation, which was why he had remained calm from the start.
Now it seemed...
Nothing had changed.
"Shua!"
The candles in the hall suddenly blazed brighter.
Kito walked into the altar, knelt down in a specific position, glanced at Lin En, and abruptly clenched his fists, forming intricate gestures.
"Vrrr..."
A halo of light appeared.
Two mysterious auras rose from the two of them, intertwining in mid-air, one significantly larger than the other.
The larger one belonged to Kito, and the smaller one to Lin En.
The larger one,
was devouring the smaller.
Everything was proceeding as planned, and Kito began to devour Lin En's bloodline, but suddenly, an unexpected event occurred.
In a secluded room elsewhere, Angus's face turned pale. He tightly held a skull of the deceased, his thumbs inserted into the eye sockets, and his body trembled slightly.
'How could this be?'
'Impossible!'
'Lin En is just an Intermediate Apprentice Wizard who has recently advanced. How could his psychic power be so formidable?'
He had doubted his target choice, but initially, it was indeed Lin En's aura.
When attacking others with Spirit Secret Arts, one could 'see' the person being attacked.
It was undoubtedly Lin En! Moreover...
Now, in the midst of casting the spell, their psychic powers were intertwined, making it impossible to stop.
Forcing the spell to end...
would mean death!
With this thought, he gritted his teeth and desperately drove the psychic power enhanced by the skull of the deceased towards his opponent.
Angus's practiced witchcraft was related to the spirit, and this psychic clash was his forte.
Additionally, with the skull in his possession, even if his opponent was a full-fledged wizard, he still had a chance of victory.
Meanwhile, on the other side.
Kito's face also changed dramatically.
"How could this be?"
"This kid has the psychic power of a full-fledged wizard. Could it be that his body has been possessed?"
This could explain why Lin En's cultivation had skyrocketed in such a short time after leaving the academy.
If his body had been taken over by a full-fledged wizard, with their experience in wizardry, such rapid progress was understandable.
"Even if you are a full-fledged wizard, defeating me in my own Wizard Tower is wishful thinking!"
"Moreover..."
"Your psychic power is not as strong as it seems. You must have borrowed some secret technique, and you won't be able to sustain it for long."
With this thought, Kito calmed his mind and engaged in a fierce battle within his psychic ocean against the incoming psychic power.
Outside, Lin En slowly opened his eyes, glanced at Kito, who was kneeling with his eyes closed and a hideous expression on his face, and smiled faintly.
"I was planning to let my main body take action, but I never expected such a fortunate turn of events. The fisher's gain from the crabs' struggle."
"Interesting!"
He had long been aware of Angus's remote curse, but he had been constantly casting spells to dodge it until he lured Angus to attack by enticing Kito to take action.
As Angus launched his attack, Lin En concealed his psychic power within his psychic ocean, avoiding the brunt of the assault.
When Angus attacked, sensing Kito's consciousness, he naturally mistook Kito for Lin En.
Kito, apparently, had the same misconception.
Once a psychic battle begins, it's difficult to end it without a clear victor.
"You two fight it out."
Lin En raised his head and lightly formed intricate gestures with his hands.
"Mentor, I gladly accept this gift from you!"
Bloodline Devouring Spell!
Kito would never have imagined that this apprentice, whom he had only recently taken under his wing, had not only mastered the Bloodline Purification Spell within a few months but had also achieved bloodline advancement and bloodline devouring.
Moreover, he was counter-devouring Kito's bloodline, strengthening himself in the process.
