Chapter 333: Struggle
“Order?”
“A new Order shall be written by me!”
Kai Xiusu roared into the sky, veins bulging across his body like iron cables, muscles rippling beneath his hide like forged steel. With a thunderous sweep of his wings, his massive frame shot upward like an arrow loosed from a bowstring, tearing through the heavens.
Boom!
Where the Red Dragon had stood, the earth cracked open in a web of fissures. A crater dozens of meters wide split the wasteland open. Invisible shockwaves exploded outward from the impact site, sweeping across the desolate plain. A hurricane of sand and rock lashed at mortals hundreds of meters away, blinding them with the sheer force of the storm.
The Red Dragon folded his wings tightly against his body, streamlining his form to cut through the air like a blade. Flames erupted from pores along his neck and tail, glowing like embers, while his rear left a blazing trail behind him—like a falling star, reversed. In less than a breath, he had soared to hundreds of meters above the ground.
Kai Xiusu was wreathed in fire, lightning, and ash. As his speed increased, a torrent of arcane energy swirled around his body, tearing the air apart with sonic booms that echoed like thunder. He charged straight toward the ancient Silver Dragon high above.
Oszedro’s expression was grave. He saw the sheer destructive power of the assault—and knew it was no mere display.
The Ancient Silver Dragon raised his Stellar Scepter, chanting in the ancient Dragon Tongue, a language pulsing with primordial magic. Silver stars erupted around him, swirling into a vast, radiant sphere hundreds of meters in diameter. They linked together, spinning rapidly, forming a dense lattice of light.
But this was not the end.
The outer layer of the lattice was sheathed in smooth, transparent fractal frost crystal. The flawless surfaces shimmered with cold light, reflecting spellfire like mirrors. The result was a perfectly symmetrical, multi-faceted sphere—orderly, flawless, and impenetrable.
Boom!
Kai Xiusu’s strike collided with it—yet the shield held.
The scorching flame column struck the surface and was instantly reflected. The backlash struck the ground, carving a new molten lava crater, rivers of magma spilling across the cracked earth.
The unbreakable protective spell absorbed and reflected all energy, shielding the Ancient Silver Dragon from harm.
Oszedro’s expression tightened with satisfaction.
“Red Dragon! Your attack is weak!”
But Oszedro had forgotten one thing—he had not yet sealed space.
For a thousand years, Silver Dragon tradition held that sorcerers favored evocation-based spells—raw, explosive power. Few mastered the secrets of spatial manipulation. Sorcerers were often mocked as “barbarians among spellcasters,” unable to choose their own spell repertoire.
But Kai Xiusu was no ordinary sorcerer.
Swish—
Kai Xiusu only grinned, a feral, merciless twist of his jaw. He tore open space with a single claw, ripping a portal into existence—its edges burning with fire, leading straight into the heart of the protective barrier.
“No!”
Oszedro’s eyes widened. He tried to counter with a spell—but the Red Dragon was already gone.
Space convulsed. A blur flashed through the air. Even the Silver Dragon’s True Sight, enhanced by millennia of mastery, failed to track the movement. In an instant, the Red Dragon had slammed into his back, powerful foreclaws locking onto his wings.
“You’re a nuisance, old homebody!” Kai Xiusu snarled, wrenching the Silver Dragon down with all his might. The jagged, blood-red maw snapped toward the neck—razor-sharp teeth bared.
But this was no ordinary dragon.
In the face of mortal danger, Oszedro’s innate Chain Trigger Spell activated. Layers of luminous membranes burst forth from his scales, shielding his body like living armor.
Yet no ordinary spell could withstand the might of the Red Dragon.
The membranes shattered in seconds—like paper pierced by a blade. The teeth tore through one layer after another, then plunged deep into the silver scales.
Shards of silver scale flew through the air, glittering in the sunlight. Crimson dragon blood spattered across the sky.
Roar—!
The Silver Dragon’s cry rang across the battlefield, drawing every living creature’s attention. Humans, Tieflings, even other dragons paused, staring up in stunned silence. They watched the titanic struggle unfold above—two ancient beasts locked in combat, a clash echoing from the dawn of time.
Now, clearly, the Red Dragon held the upper hand.
Yet the Ancient Silver Dragon was no weakling. His experience in battle was unmatched, his combat wisdom deeper than Kai Xiusu’s fleeting fury.
Oszedro writhed in midair, flipping and twisting, unleashing spell after spell from the Transmutation and Abjuration schools. Ice spikes, force fields, hurricanes—wild, unpredictable counterattacks erupted from his body, throwing Kai Xiusu off balance. The Red Dragon was flung away, breaking free from the Silver Dragon’s back.
But there was no respite.
Before Oszedro could cast another spell, the Red Dragon struck again—faster than thought.
The two dragons crashed into each other, tumbling through the air in a violent spiral, crashing down into the frozen wasteland. Ice mountains shattered beneath them, cracking into splinters.
In the close-quarters chaos, Oszedro sensed something… off.
The scent.
There was the unmistakable smell of rain.
He knew it too well—this was the unique fragrance of the Silver Dragon race, the crisp, clean scent of air after a storm.
And long before his clan’s arrival, the Anzeta Great Wasteland had only one Silver Dragon—his beloved granddaughter, “Silver Star” Olivia.
Oszedro’s face twisted in shock.
He abandoned all dignity, all composure—leaping forward with a fury born of betrayal.
“Red Dragon!” he roared. “You carry the scent of a Silver Dragon!”
“Where is Olivia?”
“What have you done to her?!”
In his rage, the Ancient Silver Dragon’s aura flared violently. His body tensed, veins bulging, strength surging—overwhelming even the Red Dragon’s might.
For over a thousand years, Oszedro had grown cold. He no longer crusaded for justice as he once had. Mortal lives meant little to him.
But family—family—was his final forbidden treasure. The duty of a clan elder.
“Hahaha!”
Kai Xiusu laughed, wild and mocking. “Old homebody… didn’t you know? Your precious granddaughter is now a proud citizen of the Kingdom!”
With a brutal shove, he slammed Oszedro’s furious face into the ground. Then, with a claw, he raked deep gashes across the Silver Dragon’s side.
Oszedro ignored the wounds. He spread his broad, silver wings like a blade of light and charged forward, roaring in fury.
“You’re lying!”
“Olivia was my student! Her nature is pure, her heart just! How could she ever bow to a bloodthirsty beast like you?!”
Kai Xiusu met him head-on, shoving his massive body into the Silver Dragon’s, then tearing open the silver scales with claw and fang.
“Old homebody, your ideals are outdated! They no longer make sense!”
“Even your own granddaughter doesn’t believe in your so-called ‘Order.’ How can you hope to be the world’s balance with such nonsense?”
“Pathetic.”
