Chapter 333: Fortune Seeker
Chapter 333: Fortune Seeker
"Of course not." Wu Chang stopped shouting and turned his head, puzzled. "Why do you suddenly ask that?"
"Just curious", Qiao Sang said.
She didn't directly mention her feeling that something was off about Uncle Zhang.
Would someone really be so good to another person for no reason?
Without a mobile phone, shouldn't he have tried to contact Wu Chang first?
Yet, he came straight to the graveyard late at night. Was that normal?
Moreover, the graveyard was eerily quiet at night, with not even a single insect or bird sound. Any slight noise would be especially noticeable. From her vantage point, she could clearly see where she and Wu Chang had been standing.
Logically, any sound, whether footsteps or the commotion caused by Fangy and Treasure Seeker, should have been noticed immediately.
But Uncle Zhang didn't greet Wu Chang, acting as if he hadn't heard anything. Was that normal?
One question after another flooded Qiao Sang's mind.
If she were to entertain a conspiracy theory... what if this Uncle Zhang was a Beastmaster who had noticed the lucky familiar?
That would explain his approach to Wu Chang and his late-night visit to the graveyard.
Qiao Sang didn't say this outright. First, she felt it was just her personal sixth sense.
Second, if she voiced her suspicions without evidence, Wu Chang would likely think she had some serious issues.
Between a man who treated her like his own son and someone she had only known for less than a day, anyone would side with the former.
Better to avoid trouble. She had only come to see what kind of familiar could bring good luck and maybe catch a bit of it herself... With this in mind, Qiao Sang said, "Go ahead and keep calling."
Wu Chang, not suspecting anything, turned back and continued to call out in a low voice, "Yun! Yun!"
The sound in the eerie, silent graveyard felt like a call to the dead.
After a couple of calls, Treasure Seeker finally drifted up to its Beastmaster, wearing a puzzled expression.
"Xunxun?"
If the human from earlier wasn't a Beastmaster, then whose familiar was the one by his side?
Damn... Qiao Sang felt her adrenaline surge.
Despite the cold night air, she broke out in a cold sweat.
Honestly, she was a bit scared.
Familiar?
There was another familiar with that uncle, and she hadn't seen it at all?!
A ghost-type familiar?!
"How big was that familiar?" Qiao Sang asked, swallowing hard.
"Xun~"
Hearing its Beastmaster's question, Treasure Seeker thought for a moment, then floated up until it was about four meters off the ground. It then made a large circle at that height.
About that big.
Qiao Sang: "!!"
A familiar that size must be at least a General-Class!
Qiao Sang shivered, feeling the temperature drop even more.
"Yun! Yun!" Wu Chang continued calling.
Qiao Sang silently climbed onto Fangy, who was now on high alert, looking around. She was starting to think about leaving...
A high-level Beastmaster with a hidden identity would have surely noticed Wu Chang's extraordinary luck.
Staying in Misty Town for so long, he must have had some agenda.
It was best not to get involved.
"Well, since it's not here, let's try again next time. I'll be at the Beastmaster Center for the next week, so you can bring it to me then", Qiao Sang said, trying to sound calm.
"It must be here! It probably just doesn't want to appear because it senses someone else besides me", Wu Chang said anxiously.
Qiao Sang asked, "Did you tell it I'm here to treat it?"
Wu Chang was silent for a moment, then turned and called out in a low voice, "Yun! Yun! I brought someone to treat you!"
Qiao Sang: "..."
"Yun~" A voice clearly not Wu Chang's echoed.
Qiao Sang froze, then suddenly looked forward.
She had discovered that the voice was coming from right in front of Fangy’s head!
"Ya!"
Fangy’s fur instantly bristled. She lifted her paw, and the energy within her body surged, gathering into a scorching flame on her raised right paw.
"Whoosh!!"
The flame-encased paw, accompanied by a whistling sound, ruthlessly slammed down.
The momentum was impressive, but Fangy’s paw was stopped by an unknown force just in front of her head.
The flames exploded, and a wave of heat spread, momentarily illuminating and warming the eerie graveyard.
The flickering red flames revealed that the force blocking the attack was a wall of energy.
"Don’t attack! It’s Yunyun!" Wu Chang exclaimed.
"Yunyun!"
The invisible familiar nodded frantically.
It’s him! It’s him!
"Fangy!"
The flames dissipated, and Fangy awkwardly retracted her paw.
She had been terrified, thinking it was something else…
At that moment, Qiao Sang exclaimed in shock, "Fangy, you know Flame Claw?!"
Flame Claw, an Intermediate Fire Skill, focuses Fire Energy in the claws, delivering a powerful attack with a chance to inflict the target with a burning status.
Fangy had never learned this skill before. How did she suddenly know it?
Could it be from fear?
Qiao Sang couldn’t help but recall the time Fangy had been scared by a TV show and produced a spark.
This wasn’t the first time Fangy had learned a skill out of fear.
Could Fangy have a talent for acquiring new skills when scared?
They hadn’t watched enough horror movies in the past.
Maybe they should try it again next time…
"Ya Ya!"
Fangy was initially taken aback by Qiao Sang’s words, then excitedly lifted her paw to inspect it, completely unaware of her Beastmaster’s inhumane thoughts.
On the other side.
"Yunyun, are you okay?" Wu Chang asked worriedly.
"Yunyun." The transparent familiar shook its head to indicate it was fine.
"Yunyun, where are you?" Wu Chang asked.
"Yunyun." The transparent familiar flashed in front of him, waving its paw.
"Yunyun, where were you at the beginning?" Wu Chang continued.
Qiao Sang snapped out of her thoughts, looked up, and saw Wu Chang seemingly talking to himself.
If not for the voice in the air responding, someone unaware might think he was insane.
"Treasure Seeker." Qiao Sang called out.
"Xun~" Treasure Seeker floated down from above.
"Can you see it?" Qiao Sang whispered.
Treasure Seeker looked in the direction of the "Yunyun" sound, rubbed its eyes, and tried to see more clearly.
"Xunxun."
Treasure Seeker shook its head.
It couldn’t see anything.
Not a Ghost-type Companion Beast, but invisible, bringing good luck, and with the skills it had just displayed, it must have Psychic-type attributes. Which familiar from the Yuhua Region fits this description?
While Qiao Sang was deep in thought, Wu Chang spoke, "Yunyun, I’ve brought someone to heal you. Don’t worry; this time, your injuries will definitely be treated. Quickly, cover yourself with the cloth so she can see your appearance."
He pulled out a crumpled chiffon cloth from his pocket and shook it out.
"Yunyun."
The invisible familiar called out, and the chiffon cloth moved forward as if controlled by an unseen force.
The white cloth covered the figure, revealing a small creature with two three-horned ears, standing about 30 centimeters tall.
Fortune Seeker. Qiao Sang stared at the ears visible through the white cloth, her mind buzzing, her expression frozen in shock.
As if to confirm her suspicions, a low, sighing voice sounded behind her:
"Fortune Seeker, I finally found you."
