Chapter 332: The Frenzy (1)
Chapter 332: The Frenzy (1)
Lu Jiaxin had expected Nie Zhan to visit regarding her investments, but to her surprise, he didn't bring it up at all and instead talked about He Hangguang's case.
Nie Zhan said, "The woman was saved, but she lost the child she was carrying. Moreover, she suffered a ruptured uterus and massive bleeding. To save her life, her uterus had to be removed, and she will no longer be able to bear children."
He himself didn't have a strong concept of children, and Nie Manli's constant urging to marry and have children sometimes annoyed him. However, not wanting to have children was different from being unable to.
This woman had gone through a lot, but knowing that He Hangguang was married with a child and still considering herself his girlfriend made it hard to sympathize with her.
"Will He Hangguang be sentenced?" Lu Jiaxin asked.
Nie Zhan nodded. "Yes, but the He family has hired the best lawyers. If that woman is willing to be lenient, the chances of him being convicted of murder are slim, but he won't be able to escape a charge of grievous bodily harm."
As for how many years he would be sentenced to, that would depend on the capabilities of the He family's lawyers.
Lu Jiaxin recalled some of the infuriating cases from the past and asked, "If they manage to get a certificate proving that He Hangguang has mental health issues, would he be able to avoid prison?"
Nie Zhan hadn't thought about that angle yet. "If they produce documents showing that he has a mental illness, and the documents are authentic, then he might be able to avoid incarceration. However, he would no longer be able to work."
"Regardless of whether he goes to prison or is institutionalized, He Hangguang will no longer be able to serve as a director of the He Group. With He Hanxuan dead and He Hanzheng being a doctor who can't shoulder this responsibility, the He family will have to rely on He Mingzhu from now on," Lu Jiaxin mused.
A thought occurred to her, and she asked, "Do you think this is a coincidence or a carefully planned scheme?"
Nie Zhan didn't speculate. "Whether it's a coincidence or a scheme, if He Mingzhu becomes the decision-maker in the He family, the outcome will be favorable for us."
Lu Jiaxin agreed. No matter what, He Mingzhu would never resort to the same underhanded tactics as He Zhuliang. "When will He Zhuliang's sentence be decided?"
Nie Zhan shook his head, indicating that it was hard to say and depended on the prosecution and the police. "After Yun and Gao's accident, the police have been monitoring him more closely. With so many charges against him, he won't be able to escape punishment. You don't need to worry; this has nothing to do with us."
Lu Jiaxin thought to herself that she was the one who had orchestrated He Zhuliang's imprisonment. However, she trusted Gu Wenfeng and Xie Kaixiao, and believed that He Zhuliang wouldn't be able to trace anything back to her no matter how capable he was.
After discussing the He family's matters, Nie Zhan finally brought up the topic of foreign exchange trading. "This opportunity is rare. If you can recoup some of your funds, I can help you buy in."
Lu Jiaxin agreed and then asked, "Nie Zhan, can I tell Su Heyuan about this? He has been very kind to me, and I want to give him a chance to make some money."
Nie Zhan shook his head. "Don't tell him. Even if you do, he probably won't be able to get in on the action. If he misses out, it's better that he doesn't know. It'll only make him feel worse to know that others are profiting while he couldn't get in on it."
"Whether he can get in on it or not is his problem," Lu Jiaxin said, shaking her head. "Since I got the information, it wouldn't be right for me not to tell him. That wouldn't be very loyal of me."
"Then I won't stay for dinner today. We can go out for a meal another day," Nie Zhan said. Lu Jiaxin was still a minor, and it wouldn't be appropriate for him to stay, so it was better to just leave early without having dinner.
"Okay," Lu Jiaxin agreed.
After seeing Nie Zhan out, Lu Jiaxin immediately called Su Heyuan. The call was answered quickly, and it was Su Heyuan himself on the line.
Lu Jiaxin briefly explained the Plaza Accord to him and urged, "You must have some familiar brokers at the bank, right? Call them immediately and ask them to place an order for you, or you might miss out tomorrow."
If Nie Zhan hadn't told her about the Plaza Accord, Lu Jiaxin wouldn't have suggested that Su Heyuan try foreign exchange trading. The reason was simple—explaining how she got the information would be too troublesome given her limited sources.
Su Heyuan had bought stocks before but had never tried foreign exchange trading. Upon hearing this, he immediately said, "Are you at home? I'll come over now."
Lu Jiaxin wanted to say something else, but the call had already ended. When she tried calling back, the servant informed her that Su Heyuan had already left.
Su Heyuan rushed into the living room as soon as the car stopped. Lu Jiaxin was still in her room and hurried downstairs when she heard his shout.
As soon as he saw her, Su Heyuan asked anxiously, "Jiaxin, tell me in detail why we're sure to make money this time by shorting the Hong Kong dollar against the Japanese yen."
"Let's go to the study!" Lu Jiaxin suggested.
Once they were in the study, Lu Jiaxin explained the details of the Plaza Accord to him. "This is what Nie Zhan told me. According to his analysis, buying these short positions is a sure profit. If you have spare funds, act quickly and buy them."
Su Heyuan's heart raced with excitement. "How much did you buy?"
Lu Jiaxin vaguely indicated that her funds were tied up in other investments, and she would have to miss this opportunity. "Don't worry about me. Hurry up and make arrangements! Once the news spreads tomorrow, everyone will rush to buy, and it might be too late."
Su Heyuan said, "If we make a profit, I'll give you a 10% cut!"
"No need," Lu Jiaxin replied. "Just treat me to a nice meal. Stop lingering here and go find your stockbroker."
Su Heyuan immediately called Sun Wushuang.
Lu Jiaxin had just washed her hair, and it was still damp as she came downstairs to see Su Heyuan in a panic. Seeing him make the call, she went back upstairs to blow-dry her hair.
After drying her hair and returning downstairs, she saw Su Heyuan sitting on the sofa eating fruit. Seeing his relaxed demeanor, she asked, "Did you get it?"
Su Heyuan shook his head. "No. Sun Wushuang went back to his hometown and won't be back until tomorrow morning. I called a few other brokers, but they all made excuses. In the end, I had to ask my grandfather for help. He has 5 million in his foreign exchange account."
"So, you got it?" Lu Jiaxin asked.
Su Heyuan nodded. "He called his stockbroker, who agreed to place the order first thing tomorrow when the market opens. However, the most they can offer is a 10x leverage, and that's only because my grandfather is a long-time client."
Lu Jiaxin thought that a 10x leverage was still pretty good. After all, buying in was as good as profiting.
Su Heyuan looked at her and hesitated before asking, "Jiaxin, do you know that your father is getting married again?"
Lu Jiaxin waved it off. "I know. Heung Ming-gor told me when I returned from abroad. I won't be going back to the mainland anyway, so it doesn't matter to me how many times he remarries."
Su Heyuan felt relieved that Lu Jiaxin was in Hong Kong, far away from her father's antics. Otherwise, seeing her father marry one woman after another in Si Jiu City would have been nauseating.
