Chapter 331: The Invisible Supernatural Creature
Chapter 331: The Invisible Supernatural Creature
Qiao Sang's pupils constricted, unable to suppress the shock that washed over her. The first thought that crossed her mind was:
Did a random thunderstorm darken the sky just to help this guy find me?!
Is his luck really that terrifying?!
She couldn't blame herself for thinking this way; the coincidence was just too bizarre and uncanny.
If this had happened to anyone else, she might have dismissed it as a fluke. But this was happening to someone who picked up money with every step, collecting four or five coins in half a minute, and even had an advantage in every randomly assigned match venue. It was hard not to connect the dots.
For a moment, Qiao Sang's gaze toward Wu Chang became peculiar, and a second thought formed in her mind:
All abnormal natural phenomena are related to Supernatural Creatures.
There's something off about this guy!
If picking up money could be chalked up to dumb luck, and the random match venues being advantageous to good fortune, then a sudden thunderstorm leading him directly to her was just too abnormal.
Seeing that Qiao Sang wasn't speaking, Wu Chang suddenly remembered something, his face turning red as his voice involuntarily grew louder: "I'm not here to flirt!"
"Do you need something from me?" Qiao Sang asked.
Relieved that she was addressing him, Wu Chang quickly said, "My name is Wu Chang, and I'm in the same Group Stage as you. I watched your match today. Can I ask if your Glacialia can heal anything?"
So, you're here for a cure... Qiao Sang said without changing her expression, "I'm not sure. I usually just read and train; Lulu hasn't treated any diseases."
Her unspoken message was: I haven't treated many diseases, so I can't guarantee anything. Don't bother me.
In truth, Lulu's Healing Light had reached Mastery, capable of healing any ailment as long as the person wasn't dead. But she wasn't about to make any promises.
Besides, Qiao Sang didn't want to help.
Part of it was a rebellious streak.
If fate brought you to me, but I refuse to heal you, what can you do about it?
The other part was her curiosity. She wanted to see if refusing the "Lucky Prodigy" would lead to more bizarre events forcing her to help.
Although Wu Chang's luck was extraordinary, his brain functioned like any other high school student's, completely missing the subtext. He glanced around, seeing no one nearby, and then turned to her with a serious expression, "Could you do me a favor and try to heal a friend? It's okay if it doesn't work."
Qiao Sang pretended to be reluctant, "If it's a medical issue, your friend should go to the hospital. And I need to prepare for tomorrow's match."
Her meaning was clear: I don't have the time.
"My friend doesn't want to go to the hospital", Wu Chang said, still missing the subtext. "I can bring my friend to you. As long as you're willing to help, I'll do anything."
"Why doesn't your friend want to go to the hospital?" Qiao Sang asked.
People who refused to go to the hospital usually fell into one of a few categories: they lacked the money, thought their condition wasn't serious enough, or were too old and didn't want to be a bother.
But as she pondered, Wu Chang lowered his voice and said, "My friend is Undocumented and can't go to the hospital."
Qiao Sang: "."
Well, that’s something she hadn’t considered.
A silence fell between them. After a while, Qiao Sang asked, “Since your friend is Undocumented, they shouldn’t be able to get in, right?”
To enter the accommodation area of the Beastmaster Center, one needed either an identity card or a Beastmaster Emblem to be scanned.
“You don’t need to worry about that. My friend doesn’t have a body,” Wu Chang whispered.
Qiao Sang: “???”
No body? What does that even mean?
Qiao Sang suddenly thought of something, her expression turning blank as she blurted out, “Is your friend a Supernatural Creature?”
“Yeah,” Wu Chang nodded. “It’s not exactly that it doesn’t have a body; you can touch it, but you just can’t see it.”
Of course! She should have known!
Qiao Sang felt she had finally grasped the truth at that moment.
If her guess was correct, the Supernatural Creature behind the “Lucky Prodigy” was the real reason for his extraordinary luck.
If this Supernatural Creature could genuinely improve someone’s luck, could she also get a bit of that good fortune?
The thought ignited a fire within her, making her restless and unable to quell it.
Qiao Sang took a deep breath and said with a serious tone, “Since your friend is sick, it’s best not to move around. I’ll go with you.”
Wu Chang was instantly overjoyed. “Thank you!”
But as she heard his gratitude, Qiao Sang felt something wasn’t quite right.
She had initially planned to refuse him.
In the air, Qiao Sang sat on Fangy, while Wu Chang sat on the Sensory Bird.
“My parents divorced when I was very young. I used to live with my dad, but then he remarried and sent me to my mom.”
“My mom was dating an uncle at the time. After a week, she took me back to my dad’s place. They kept passing me back and forth until I ended up living with my grandfather.”
“I was nine years old at the time.”
“Later, when I was in my third year of junior high, my grandfather passed away. On the night of his funeral, I overheard my parents arguing over who should take me in.”
“I missed my grandfather so much that I decided to walk to his grave to visit him. That’s where I met it.”
“It sounds funny, but around two in the morning, the apple I brought for my grandfather suddenly got bitten. It nearly scared the life out of me.”
“Don’t look at me like that. I know you might think my life is tragic, but it’s okay. I’ve moved on, otherwise, I wouldn’t be telling you this.”
“After meeting it, everything seemed to go smoothly for me. That year, I Awakened the Beastmaster Codex. My parents argued again over who should take me in, but this time, they both wanted me.”
“I refused. I wanted to stay here.”
“When I Awakened the Beastmaster Codex, I asked it if it would Bond with me, but it refused. Later, when the Codex had a second page, I asked again, and it still refused.”
“Well, if it doesn’t want to, that’s fine. Things are good as they are.”
“Oh, and could you please not tell anyone about it? It doesn’t like attention. It usually won’t appear if there are others around, and it won’t respond when called.”
“There was this nice uncle who wanted to introduce me to some people, but it went missing and only reappeared after a while.”
“That’s when I realized it was injured.”
