Chapter 331: Justice's Partner?
Chapter 331: Justice's Partner?
Yi Xiao watched Kuro sheathe Autumn Water. After a moment's thought, he turned toward the group of CP3 members who had just regained consciousness. Nalgah's eyelids twitched slightly as Yi Xiao nodded approvingly, then returned his staff-sword to its scabbard.
"Brother used my hand to accomplish something incredible", he mused, tapping his wooden staff against the ground as he turned to leave. "Seems the world isn't as unchanging as I thought. But I'll need to observe more carefully to understand the details."
With a faint chuckle, he added, "Navy, huh? Interesting indeed."
The oppressive atmosphere vanished instantly.
Kuro snapped his fingers. The continent cloaking the sky began rising, revealing Sky like a curtain lifting. The full moon, previously obscured, reappeared in all its glory, bathing the land in silvery light.
"Take care, Brother."
Kuro called after Yi Xiao's retreating figure before sighing. "Lost again."
In terms of abilities, he was clearly outmatched by Yi Xiao. Losing an entire continent so effortlessly?
At least his swordsmanship should still exceed that blind old man's.
Fifty-fifty odds overall.
"Not good enough", Kuro muttered, stroking his chin. "If some random old blind man can fight me to a draw, this Grand Line is truly dangerous. If a few more like him appear, I'm finished. Cultivation training can't wait."
Nalgah groaned as he slowly regained consciousness, clutching his aching head. The searing pain reminded him urgently of his mission.
"Revolutionary Army!"
He shot to his feet, then froze, staring at the rocky wasteland around him. "Where am I?"
Just moments ago he'd been in the grasslands. How did he end up here?
His eyes landed on Kuro standing nearby.
"Kuro Commander!"
Nalgah shouted, "Where's the Revolutionary Army? Where are they?!"
"Ah, you're awake, Captain Nalgah", Kuro said, exhaling smoke from his cigar. "Revolutionary Army? They fled. Not sure exactly."
"Not sure? Then what were you doing all this time?"
"Oh, that. I was just about to report - I encountered a 'suspected' Revolutionary Army member, an old blind man. Powerful fellow. Following standard procedure to eliminate threats, I engaged him for assessment. There was a minor misunderstanding, but resolved it. Turns out he wasn't Revolutionary Army after all - just here for gambling."
Kuro gave a thumbs-up. "No need to thank me. Just thinking of World Government's interests. Imagine if someone that strong actually joined Revolutionary Army. Big trouble."
Nalgah stared silently.
"What old blind man are you blathering about? I'm asking about Sabo! The vice commander and chief strategist of Revolutionary Army! That's who we're supposed to capture!" Nalgah roared.
"Must say Revolutionary Army's deception tactics are brilliant", Kuro said, clenching his fist. "They disguised themselves as civilians, making me target the wrong person. Despicable!"
"Rest assured, Captain Nalgah", Kuro said, shaking his fist angrily. "I'll fully support your operation."
"I-" Nalgah clenched his fist, barely containing his rage.
"Though this area's a mess now. That old man didn't care about environmental safety. Let me clean up."
Acting on instinct, Kuro raised his hand. The jagged rocks and stone formations lifted from the ground, ascending like stars.
Boom! Boom!
The ground trembled violently as Nalgah staggered, nearly losing his balance. Watching the myriad floating boulders suspended in the sky, he swallowed hard and slowly unclenched his fist.
Better not provoke him.
"Hey, Navy big brother!"
A group rushed from the village - Su Zhan, Ju Geng, and others.
"Grandpa Ushida, you're safe! Thank goodness. The moon disappeared earlier."
Seeing Ushida unharmed, Su Zhan sighed in relief before confronting Kuro. "Navy big brother, that blond big brother ran off. He said he'd save us, but seemed scared of you. Who were those 'Revolutionary Army' people anyway?"
"A bunch of troublemakers who'd even check the saltiness of fertilizer carriers' spoons", Kuro replied. "Though you could call them 'Justice's Partner' too."
"They escaped?!"
Hearing the boy's words, Nalgah clenched his fists. With Revolutionary Army's capabilities, tracking them down after a genuine escape would be impossible.
What a waste of hard-earned intelligence.
Recollecting would strain their limited manpower. Though Insect Country wasn't large, gathering Revolutionary Army intelligence in such a short time across a mid-sized nation would be challenging.
"You'll serve as our gift to Insect Country - become their king and help us!" Nalgah spat, glaring at Ju Geng. Suddenly remembering she was the poacher, he thought, "Presenting her as tribute should make negotiations easier with the king."
He advanced toward Ju Geng.
"What do you think you're doing?!" Su Zhan shouted, stepping protectively in front of Ju Geng. "Don't you dare harm Ju Geng sister!"
"Move aside, brat! Or I'll arrest you too as an accomplice!" Nalgah snarled, suddenly vanishing. Using 'Shave', he reappeared beside Ju Geng, hand gripping her shoulder.
"Woman, come with me for..." The word "trip" hadn't finished when Ju Geng grabbed his wrist, seized his collar, and in a single fluid motion, lifted the trained fighter over her shoulder.
Bang!
Nalgah slammed head-first into the ground, creating a visible shockwave.
"Cough!"
Blood spattered from Nalgah's mouth as he nearly blacked out.
"Wait, this is..."
Lida's eyes widened. "Judo?!"
"Storm Mountain?!" Kuro exclaimed in surprise.
Since when did this woman know more than archery?
Ju Geng exhaled sharply, assuming a judo stance. "Kuro Commander, arrest him!"
Still dazed on the ground, Nalgah called out.
"Not possible", Kuro said casually, exhaling smoke. "This woman's joining the Navy. You attacked my subordinate, and now you want me to help arrest her?"
"Eh, Kuro, she's joining Navy?" Lida asked.
"If I say she's joining, she's joining. I need a chef anyway. Her cooking was delicious." Kuro shrugged.
Perfect excuse to shake off this nuisance, he thought.
