Chapter 33: The Monthly Assessment at Tianhai Begins
Chapter 33: The Monthly Assessment at Tianhai Begins (Please Follow and Read)
Over the following days, Lin Qi threw himself entirely into martial arts training to improve his strength.
Life as a Senior Year martial artist was monotonous—eating, studying, and training consumed their days, with training time increasing for most.
Yang Lei, after his humiliating defeat by Lin Qi, had become meek and now fawned over Lin Qi constantly. As Jiang Tao had predicted, Yang Lei was exactly the kind to bully the weak and fear the strong.
Meanwhile, Coach Zhang Cheng had elevated his attention to Yang Lei, offering frequent guidance.
Besides training, Lin Qi occasionally visited the Crimson Vault Martial Arts Pavilion with Jiang Tao as a sparring partner. What began as a part-time job had turned into a mutual exchange with Guo Heng. The sparring sessions were brief now, quickly giving way to time spent in the Crimson Realm Arena.
Within the Crimson Realm Arena, Lin Qi had become an elite competitor, accumulating points rapidly and climbing the Scarlet List rankings.
Everything was improving methodically. Lin Qi felt his strength growing visibly each day, bringing a deep sense of fulfillment.
Time passed swiftly—over ten days vanished in a blink.
October 8, 2045, Martial Arts Era. Sunny.
The first day after National Day holiday marked the beginning of the first Monthly Assessment for Senior Year students across Tianhai City.
At Tianhai No.2 High School’s Elite Class, cold air blew from the air conditioner, chilling their skin but failing to dispel the tension in the room.
Lin Qi sat near the wall, his desk holding a folded exam paper and a massive answer sheet. He gripped a water pen, swiftly tackling the questions.
"What is the adult weight of a Tier-1 Disaster Beast, the Ironthorn Boar?"
Lin Qi scanned the question, instantly knowing the answer—400 kilograms!
He moved to the next question without pause. Most of the exam consisted of multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank questions, all simple for him, requiring almost no hesitation.
The cultural exam lasted a grueling ten hours, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with only one hour of rest. Eight of those hours were spent nonstop answering questions—a true test of endurance.
The exam covered Chinese, mathematics, geography, physics, biology, martial arts theory, Disaster Beast knowledge, and more.
At 6 p.m., the exam ended.
"Everyone, rest well. Meet in the Martial Arts Classroom at seven for the martial arts assessment", reminded Headteacher Yan Hong as she collected the papers.
Exhausted students slowly left for the cafeteria.
"Qige, let's eat!"
Lin Qi and Jiang Tao walked together. He pulled a Revitalizing Elixir from his backpack and drank it. A cool sensation surged through his head, soothing his fatigued mind.
"Time flies. It's already been over a month since school started."
"We've worked hard this month. Tonight will show our results. I'm aiming for top ten this time", Jiang Tao said, equally energized after taking an elixir, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
Lin Qi rubbed his temples. He too wondered where he now stood—rank-wise in the school, even in Tianhai City.
Principal's Office
"Time flies. Time to test my teaching results", Zhang Cheng said, lounging on a leather sofa with one leg propped on the desk.
"Yes. Let's hope we see some progress", Jiang Zhiguang replied nervously, watering plants.
"You've watered that pot a dozen times, and nothing's grown yet", Zhang Cheng teased.
"Patience. It'll sprout soon!" Jiang Zhiguang muttered.
At 7 p.m., after a brief rest, all fifty Elite Class students gathered in the Martial Arts Classroom, warming up individually.
Expressions varied—some relaxed, chatting with friends, others visibly tense, hands cold and faces stiff.
"Looks like everyone's ready! The Punch Force Analyzer and speed track are set!" A burly figure entered, followed by a man and woman.
Zhang Cheng's entrance brought immediate pressure, silencing the room.
He strode to the Punch Force Analyzer, patting the machine. "No need for speeches. Your results reflect your effort. Names will be called."
"First, Chen Zichuan!"
From the corner, Chen Zichuan stepped forward—ranked 50th, yet his gaze sharpened with determination.
"Chen Zichuan? Always alone. Probably getting kicked from Elite Class", someone sneered.
Lin Qi smirked. Chen Zichuan would surprise them all.
Seconds later—
"Boom! Boom!"
Chen Zichuan's fists struck the target. The screen flashed:
"722.3 kilograms!"
"719.5 kilograms!"
"Over 700 kilograms of punch force!" Gasps filled the room.
The taunter winced, stung by his own words.
After speed testing, Zhang Cheng nodded, pleased. "Good job!"
Chen Zichuan clenched his fist, smiling faintly as Lin Qi and Jiang Tao gave thumbs-up.
"Liu Yiheng! 672kg? What did you do this month?" Zhang Cheng scolded. Liu Yiheng paled, his speed test worse.
Zhang Cheng shook his head silently.
"Wei Qing! 685kg—progress!"
"Yang Lei! This is your improvement?" Zhang Cheng frowned. The atmosphere thickened like a death trial.
"Next, Lin Qi!"
Curiosity surged as Zhang Cheng called his name.
"Go, Qige! Show them your strength", Jiang Tao grinned.
Lin Qi stepped forward, brushing past Yang Lei. All eyes watched—this was the one who'd dominated Yang Lei weeks ago, the student Zhang Cheng watched closely.
He exhaled, relaxing.
Suddenly, his eyes sharpened. Muscles tensed. Vital Energy surged through his arms, power chain-linking from his waist to his fists.
His punch exploded onto the target—like a sandbag striking with thunderous force.
"Boom!"
The target shook violently, wind whipping outward. The screen read—840.8kg!
Lin Qi remained calm, but the crowd erupted.
"840 kilograms?!"
"Qige's insane!" Jiang Tao gaped.
Others murmured, "800kg explains beating Yang Lei. Makes sense now."
"Yang Lei challenged him? Like an uncle with a lantern entering the toilet—asking for death!"
"Good!" Zhang Cheng finally smiled, recording the score.
Lin Qi moved to the speed test. Activating the infrared tracker, he burst forward like a wild horse.
Vital Energy surged, muscles blazing. A blur passed the finish line.
"16.2m/s!"
"820kg punch force, 16.2m/s speed. His Vital Energy stat must've broken 8.0!"
"Mid-tier in the grade now", someone gasped.
"Li Zhou, the top student, crossed his arms, smirking. "Interesting. Another genius."
"Yu Jing, he was in your old class. Know him?" asked a peer.
"Not well. Just 800kg", Yu Jing replied coldly.
Yang Lei watched, face twisted with regret, feeling like a fool.
