"My turn, let's draw." You Xuan drew a card and smiled.
"The Demon King's signature deck, a collection of fiends from various myths and folklore. Due to his ability to skillfully harness the power of these fiends, he earned the title of Demon King."
"Hahahaha! You know your stuff, kid."
The Demon King laughed heartily but then waved his hand dismissively. "Never mind that. To be honest, there's more to why they call me the Demon King."
He paused, his eyes narrowing as he sized You Xuan up, his tongue flicking across his lips. "You'll understand why when you lose."
Although Yugi Muto beside him didn't quite understand what he meant, he still shuddered instinctively, feeling a chill run down his spine.
"One of the most important traits of fiends is their immortality," You Xuan explained. "They can resurrect themselves from the graveyard any number of times. And with each resurrection, they can give rise to various different tactical maneuvers."
"Oh, you've done your homework, kid." The Demon King smiled slyly. "Good, very good. I'm starting to like you. That's right, by accumulating sleeping fiends in the graveyard and having them resurrect over and over, you can unleash a ferocious offense, which is the key to skillfully controlling fiends."
"Of course," You Xuan smiled as he slowly drew a card from his hand. "So I will play this card—the continuous spell, 'Dimensional Fissure'!"
Electricity overflowed from the space, and countless surging lightning bolts turned into blades, forcefully slicing open the space. A pitch-black fissure, like a scar in the fabric of reality, was forcefully torn open, spanning the middle of the arena.
"As long as 'Dimensional Fissure' remains on the field," You Xuan continued, "all monsters sent to either player's graveyard are removed from play instead!"
The Demon King's smile lasted for about a second. Then it slowly faded, and after another second, his mouth opened wide in a mix of shock and disbelief.
"W-what did you say?!?"
Remove from play instead of sending to the graveyard?!?
It took his brain several seconds to process the information contained in that sentence, and in that moment, the Demon King felt like he had been struck by lightning, his CPU nearly frying from the shock.
What?!?
You're removing his graveyard from play right from the start?!?
Isn't that just blowing up his entire strategy with his Fiend deck?!?
"Next, I summon 'Survivor of Another Dimension'," You Xuan declared.

"Survivor of Another Dimension, attack 'Ox-Head Goblin'!"
Only then did the Demon King snap out of his daze from the massive blow and grit his teeth. "Hmph, it won't be that easy! I activate my face-down Trap Card! Trap Card, 'Fiendish Reinforcements'!" (Original card)
A Fiend-specific Trap Card, this one hadn't been made into an actual card yet.
"By paying 1000 Life Points, 'Fiendish Reinforcements' allows me to Special Summon two Level 4 or lower Fiend-Type monsters from my graveyard!"

"I pay 1000 Life Points to Special Summon 'Angel's Charity' and the two monsters it discarded!"
The Demon King drew the two cards that had been discarded from the graveyard.
"Return to the field, 'Crow Tengu of Demise' and 'Shadowmoor Goblin'!!!"

He pointed at You Xuan's field.
"Destroy 'Survivor of Another Dimension'!"
Dark currents swept over the robed warrior on You Xuan's field, shattering its body.
"Now, the effect of Yin Demon Rogue! When this card is Special Summoned from the graveyard, I draw one card from my deck!" The Fiend King continued.
"Oh, he blocked it," Judai said from the side. "This guy's pretty good."
You Xuan merely smiled and drew four more cards.
"Then, I'll set four cards face-down and end my turn."
With a wave of his hand, another pitch-black dimensional void opened up on the field. The robed and hooded warrior that had just been destroyed returned to the field once more.
The Fiend King was shocked. "Survivor of Another Dimension... Why? It should have been destroyed by Crow Tengu of Demise's effect!"
"The effect of Survivor of Another Dimension," You Xuan explained, "When this card is removed from the field, during the End Phase, Special Summon this card to your field."

The Fiend King's pupils contracted.
He had begun to grasp the outline of You Xuan's strategy.
With Dimensional Fissure on the field, both players' graveyards were essentially non-existent, as all monsters sent to the graveyard were removed from play.
His Fiend deck relied heavily on the graveyard, and most of his monsters' effects were related to it, leaving him almost paralyzed.
On the other hand, the combination of "Survivor of Another Dimension" and "Dimensional Fissure" seemed to grant them an immortal-like ability. Whether through battle or card effects, as long as "Dimensional Fissure" was on the field, "Survivor of Another Dimension" would be removed from the game and then resurrect itself due to its own effect.
Furthermore, it was evident that his opponent's deck was likely full of cards related to removing cards from play.
As a result, the situation had become one where his graveyard strategy was crippled while his opponent had an abundance of resources in the form of removed cards.
What a ridiculous tactic! The Fiend King's eyes turned red as he thought of this.
Only now did he truly understand. His opponent's claim of having researched him and understanding the characteristics of his Fiend deck wasn't out of respect for a strong opponent, but because he wanted to mess with his head!
"Your turn, Your Majesty the Fiend King," You Xuan reminded him. "If you don't make a move soon, you'll time out."
"Hmph, of course, I know it's my turn. I draw."
At this point, the Fiend King realized that the opponent he faced today was no ordinary duelist. Although he had few resources in his graveyard, he had managed to accumulate some during his first turn.
In this situation, if the duel dragged on, his available resources would diminish while his opponent's removed resources would increase, leaving him with no room to struggle.
He had to think of something.
However, after drawing his card, his eyes lit up.
"Hahahaha!" The Fiend King laughed. "Do you think you can stop me by banning my graveyard with 'Dimensional Fissure'? How naive! I activate the quick-play spell 'Whirlwind' from my hand, destroying all Spell and Trap Cards on the field!"
A vicious smile spread across his face as he pointed at You Xuan's back row.
"Dimensional Fissure, be gone!"
