Chapter 328: Father and Son
Chapter 328: Father and Son
Upon the scorched earth, now reduced to ruins, the war drew to a close.
The corpses of the Deathstalkers lay scattered, all of them lifeless. Most of the Dragon Race understood the wisdom of retreat when faced with overwhelming odds, and even with the 'Pure Land' as an obstacle, a portion of the Dragon Race managed to escape during the descent of the 'Heaven's Punishment Sword', which was primarily focused on defense.
Even the dead Dragon Race members might not be truly deceased, as the pure-blooded Dragon Race of the Third Generation and above may have left behind 'cocoons'. Fortunately, the most crucial target, the Dragon King, had been captured.
The surviving Yu Hua girls salvaged the spoils of war, collecting and disposing of the bodies of the Deathstalkers and the Dragon Race. Injured students were sent to the medical room for treatment, while the rest returned to rest.
Crack!
The Murasame, after countless clashes, was finally severed. Chu Zihan's sword, tempered by Lu Ke, was a top-tier Alchemical weapon with a living spirit, while Chu Tianjiao's sword had become outdated.
Odin himself was severely injured and preoccupied with his own survival, unable to transmit his power. Time Zero, the cheater, was neutralized by Ange, and even if the Deathstalker transformed into Chu Tianjiao, it would only be an ordinary S-rank opponent, easily defeated by Chu Zihan, who had upgraded his bloodline twice.
The expressionless face of Chu Zihan severed his father's limbs, severing the meridians and muscles to weaken his resistance. The modified S-rank Deathstalker had a strong regenerative ability, but repeated recoveries could lead to errors, and after several dozen attempts, the meridians connected incorrectly, further reducing his threat.
Caesar slowly descended, his body exhibiting further signs of Dragon Transformation. Two bony wings sprouted from his bloody back, and flesh continued to grow, seemingly transforming him into an ancient dragon.
"I'm sorry," he apologized sincerely to Chu Zihan. Although he didn't care about Pompeii Catacomb, the man was still his father, and his sins would be passed down through their shared bloodline.
Chu Zihan once again severed the healing wound of Chu Tianjiao, shaking his head at the Deathstalker's hoarse cries of pain. "You and he are two different people. I won't blame you."
After a brief pause, Chu Zihan continued, "But I never intended to forgive him. I still intend to kill him."
"That's reasonable. I never expected you to spare him either."
Caesar suppressed the surging emotions within him and silently raised his head.
The sky gradually brightened with the dawn's light, and the night quietly faded away. On the distant horizon, a faint orange-red glow appeared.
The war was over, and the day was about to begin.
In the center of the ruins, Ange approached the charred and bisected Dragon King, who was on the verge of death. He slowly crouched down and placed the red rose from his chest in front of the Dragon King.
"Although the Incantation's range is greater, in terms of concentrated destructive power at a single point, your Incantation couldn't surpass the Heaven's Punishment Sword."
Before the descent of the space-based weapon, Li Wuyue, who had been prepared, unleashed all her power in resistance. However, the 'Abyss' had not yet fully matured, and with the additional interference, the descending metal rod still shattered all resistance, impaling the roaring Dragon King.
The Dragon King was still resentful, considering this death a disgrace, but with no chance to resist, it could only expel its hatred from its belly.
"The difference between humans and beasts lies in the ability to utilize tools. Weakness is not an obstacle to survival; arrogance is."
Although he regretted not being able to participate in the entire battle, Ange was satisfied with the outcome. He tightly gripped the folding knife imbued with the Philosopher's Stone and plunged it into the Dragon King's heart, allowing the poison to spread through its bloodstream.
"What a monstrous vitality. I'm curious to see how long you can survive."
He sat beside Li Wuyue and took out an antique pocket watch to start timing.
The sun slowly rose on the horizon, and against the white background, the scene of the seated elderly man with bent legs, the ticking second hand, and the charred monster formed a peculiar tableau.
Just before the majestic Golden Eye dimmed and closed, seven sharp Alchemical weapons flew from the void and impaled Li Wuyue from all sides. As the blades trembled, the domain of 'Sin and Punishment' appeared, trapping the soul of the Dragon King.
"Principal, if you had returned a little later, you would have let our enemy escape," Lu Ke said as he emerged from the void, holding a person in his hand—the immobilized Pompeii Catacomb.
The battle in Japan had concluded, and after awakening, the 'White Queen' was entirely consumed by him. After spending some time restoring the damaged surface, he had returned.
The charred body trembled and took its final breath, rapidly disintegrating into blood and flesh, leaving behind only a dragon bone cross that resembled a work of art.
"I believed you would make it back in time. If he hadn't truly died, my wish would not have been fulfilled," Ange said with a smile as he stood up.
The leader of the Secret Party, who had defeated the Shadow Emperor Kusanagi Etsu, stumbled slightly, almost losing his balance. His withered face seemed even more aged, and his once-straight back now hunched slightly, as if the valiant dragon slayer had reverted to an ordinary old man.
He didn't glance at the dragon bone cross that would incite countless people to fight over it, nor did he say anything more. He merely nodded at Lu Ke and slowly walked away.
"It seems like after fulfilling one's final wish, one can't live for long."
Lu Ke glanced at Ange's fate line. After completing his revenge, Ange seemed to relax, as if an old man who had been holding his breath finally exhaled, relieved but also losing the drive to continue living.
Lu Ke sighed. Extending one's lifespan was an easy task, but Ange was different from Kusanagi Etsu, who still had a son and daughter to care for. Ange, on the other hand, had no desires left.
With the dragon bone cross of the Ocean and Water Monarch recovered, Chu Zihan and Caesar, who had been waiting nearby, approached. Their gazes simultaneously turned to Lu Ke, who held Odin, or Pompeii Catacomb, in his hand.
"Here you go. Keep him alive, and deal with him yourselves."
Lu Ke casually threw the man to the ground. After a few quiet seconds, the Murasame was drawn, and Chu Zihan, expressionless, prepared to strike. Caesar lowered his head, standing in front of Chu Zihan to block his path.
"Can I have a moment alone with him to say goodbye?"
Chu Zihan didn't speak but sheathed the Murasame and took a few steps back. He wouldn't give up on killing Odin, but he was willing to grant them time for a father-son farewell.
Lu Mingfei and Fingal woke up in their dorm room, both of them looking haggard with dark circles under their eyes.
"Mingfei, why didn't you sleep last night?" Fingal asked, sniffing his underwear and gagging before putting it on.
"I was too excited about suddenly being in a relationship to sleep," Lu Mingfei yawned, squinting as he put on his socks. "What about you, Wastrel Senior Apprentice?"
"Haven't you heard? There's a group of transfer students coming today, and my girlfriend is on that list," Fingal replied.
"Really?" Lu Mingfei was taken aback by the news and hesitantly asked, "Senior Apprentice, are you having a delusion because I'm in a relationship? Did you develop some kind of hysteria?"
"What do you mean? What do you mean! I, your senior apprentice, was once a formidable figure. Standing there, I was the undisputed king of Cassel!" Fingal boasted, his head held high as if reminiscing about his glorious past.
"But now you're the school's only F-grade student, and you're almost thirty. Unless the students have a fetish for older men, I don't think anyone would like you," Lu Mingfei couldn't help but tease.
"Junior Apprentice, do you understand the charm of maturity? Men get better with age," Fingal said, patting his face. "Isn't that what men rely on?"
"Well, the principal is quite handsome. As for you..." Lu Mingfei said diplomatically.
"Actually, Senior Apprentice, you're not bad-looking either. It's just that I've been hanging out with the Boss, Chu Senior Apprentice, and Caesar a lot, so my aesthetic standards have risen," Lu Mingfei added.
Fingal let out a cold laugh and patted his face. "Is this what men rely on?"
He then patted his toned body, "It's this!"
And then he patted the area below, "And this!"
Fingal proudly displayed himself, "My Incantation is Bronze Throne. Do you know what that means? Bronze Throne!"
The Bronze rank is pretty low...
Lu Mingfei thought for a moment, "I remember this Incantation is for strengthening the body to carry the Dragon Race, hence the name Bronze Throne."
"The focus isn't on carrying the Dragon Race, but on strengthening the body! Strengthening the body!" Fingal emphasized, banging the table. "Junior Apprentice, you really don't get the point. And who's this Caesar you mentioned? Which sand sculpture gave himself the name of the Roman Emperor? Is he trying to reach the heavens?"
"God's gold, who doesn't know Caesar in school? Didn't you join the student council too?" Lu Mingfei looked at Wastrel Senior Apprentice in amusement.
"Is there such a person in the student council? I've never heard of him," Fingal said, looking surprised.
"You're really confused. How can you forget the president of the student council, the heir of the Gatuzo family, and Chu Zihan's arch-nemesis?" Lu Mingfei listed Caesar's titles.
"He also likes to challenge the Boss, but he always loses," Lu Mingfei added.
"This... Mingfei, are you sure you're okay?" Fingal became serious, sensing that Lu Mingfei seemed sincere.
"All the titles you mentioned belong to Abdullah Abbas," Fingal said.
"Abdu... what?"
"Abdullah Abbas."
Fingal looked up in awe, "He's a towering man like a polar bear!"
Lu Mingfei: ???
What the heck?
His surname isn't even Gatuzo, how can he be the heir of the Gatuzo family?!
Don't you guys think something's wrong here?
